WTAF?! I have no words. Except, maybe it IS actually time to defund the BBC?

SamW98 · 14/09/2023 23:40

But dismissing the objections, a member of the BBC's complaints team said: 'People will interpret songs with any element of nuance or ambiguity differently.

Oh do fuck off BBC . How can the words Kick terfs all day, don't break a sweat' be ambiguous or open to interpretation?

Nuance? Ambiguity?

Just cancel your tv licence, go online and declare you no longer need one because you don’t watch any live tv, then set up a new email account to log into anything you want to watch! If everyone did this the BBC would disappear and it can’t come a day to soon Stop funding this shit!!

"Dream Nails"?
Sounds like a nail bar down the high street, ten a penny.
Let me guess, they're "LibFems"?

Edited

There is actually a chain of salons in East London/Essex called Dream Nailsz

I doubt there’s any Terf kicking going on though

Not if they want to keep their customers.
I guarantee you the good women of East London and Essex wouldn't have any time for this whiney bunch. I never had a ton of time for punk back in the day, but at least they wanted to give the establishment a good kicking. Now jokers like this band are the establishment's lackeys in wanting to kick other women. Farcical.

Woah-oh) They them, they them!
(Woah-oh) Not asking for a friend

Call me a girl again
Kick terfs all day, don't break a sweat
Call me a girl again
Trans power is forever
Call me a girl again
My gender's not your business
Call me a girl again
Non-binary resistance!

They them obviously hate women enough to not want to be called one.
Internalised and externalise misogyny much?

Everyday I think it cant go on being this ridiculous (actually depressing).

You mean the BBC has actually said that a lyric "kick terfs all day, dont break a sweat", is open to interpretation. They are taking the piss and they know nobody can do anything about it. They all be their sniggering about how funny it is, and isn't it great to make "terfs" feel uncomfortable.

I did think that after the Magistrate let Sarah Jane Baker get away with incitement to violence because it was about getting publicity was going to lead to more and mora aggressive comments about "terfs", and this is an example.

Does the BBC regularly play songs that encourage violence against women?

The whole fake narrative of the BBC and others saying violence against women is terrible, and yet everyday they are supporting activists who are inciting violence against women.

EasternStandard · 15/09/2023 00:18

Madness

I always felt strongly on R6 existing

Finding that hard atm and questioning licence fee

PorcelinaV · 15/09/2023 00:20

So their gender isn't anyone else's business, but everyone needs to remember their pronouns. If they just kept it to themselves then no one would fucking care.

unwashedanddazed · 15/09/2023 00:28

Good luck to them as they'll now have to screen every single lyric for potential offence to the ever diminishing band of grievance goblins that will ultimately be their only audience.

RaininginDarling · 15/09/2023 00:31

"Grievance Goblins"

Actual LOLs

I'll just leave this here

MixedTocopherols · 15/09/2023 00:44

OK so:

their gender is not my business

but

they also really want to make sure I know about their gender

Great stuff

duc748 · 15/09/2023 00:52

I don't like the idea of banning records, but the fact that they played it NOW....

They are totally taking the piss.

Maddy70 · 15/09/2023 00:57

Lots of songs have objectionable lyrics. Immsuprised many make it to radio

sarsaparillatree · 15/09/2023 01:04

Surely this is against the law as it is incitement to violence?

duc748 · 15/09/2023 01:22

Well, yes, but I think this law is wisely proceeded with seldom. You'd be banning a lot of hip-hop, and not just that.

PriOn1 · 15/09/2023 03:55

The BBC was always going to be problematic when it came to digging its heels in, I think. Wasn’t there a survey a few years back saying that 2% of its employees were “trans” and 4% when you got to management level? Those levels are not reflective of the general population and can’t have happened accidentally.

I do think that perhaps the BBC has to go. It’s a million miles from fulfilling its remit.

Datun · 15/09/2023 05:16

sarsaparillatree · 15/09/2023 01:04

Surely this is against the law as it is incitement to violence?

On the basis of a protected characteristic too.

They wouldn't allow 'kick the disabled all day, don't break a sweat' would they?

Catsanfan · 15/09/2023 06:59

Incitement to violence!

Catsanfan · 15/09/2023 07:02

Why don't they just employ SJB and be fucking done with it!

NashvilleQueen · 15/09/2023 07:23

Who played it, do we know?
