Anyway, she's liked a load of fan comments, including mostly women's rights accounts

What's not to understand? Haven't Pitchfork praised the album?

'To review this at all is bad enough, but to give such a good score is to be complicit in genocide.'

God damn it, the satire is getting harder and harder to spot.

WarriorN · 13/09/2023 13:48

It's what Roisin has written - the truth is... when clearly a previous one was scored more highly

Fabulous!

She's a total icon. Her costumes are amazing.

She's also clearly got no fucks

Between Billy "you're smiling so it can't really be all that bad" Bragg, and Beta Cuck Lefties placing Róisín up there with Atilla The Hun, Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot and Mao, the peaking of millions by the woke idiot class is breaking all previous records.

Keep it up, guys, just keep it up. Have as many megaphones as you need.

The infected boil has been getting more and more pustulent for years now. The disinfectant and antibiotic of sunlight is now acting. Róisín's debacle is like a sterilised scalpel piecing that boil.

StephanieSuperpowers · 13/09/2023 14:01

I wish I had your confidence. I feel like what they've manged to do already will take a couple of decades to undo - and that's if they stopped today, which they don't plan to do. It just feels like there are no depths to which they won't sink and at this point, I feel like even if a woman were to be murdered for being a terf they'd probably be fine with it. I'm feeling quite despondent today.

CorruptedCauldron · 13/09/2023 14:03

So, the truth is that Pitchfork says Hit Parade is Roisin’s best album, yet has rated it lower than her first solo album, Ruby Blue. Got it. Truth hurts!

WarriorN · 13/09/2023 14:05

Some days I'm hopeful; others much less so.

It's hitting schools very badly. Myths are common facts amongst the educational community.

I hold on to some hints via nhs clinical guidance but it's not happening quickly enough imo to make a change in schools. The horse bolted a long time ago.

Or maybe Roisin pointing out what "truth" is

@StephanieSuperpowers

All of this stuff is motored by a small minority of individuals, who rely on threats and bully-tactics, to get what they want. Their true colours are now there, presented to the world for all to see - and people, the general public-at-large, are watching and noting.

StephanieSuperpowers · 13/09/2023 14:25

@Biffology , I thought that initially. I, like so many others, thought that when things like the client group being seen by the Tavistock came out, it would make people think, or when trans women were put into women's prisons or when men started taking sporting places from women, people would think again and realise that there is some merit in what we're saying. But no. I'm afraid to say, it's become very clear that many people do not care about women at all.

Of course. In this manic world, 2+2=567,890.
Of course her best album would get a lower score. Up is down, down is up, girls can become boys, men can enter any female space, Big Pharma is definitely not fucked.

Biffology · 13/09/2023 14:31

'many people do not care about women at all.'

But are they the majority ?

Stephanie, don't lose faith. Yes, it's absolutely awful and shit on any parameter you look at. But the sunlight shining on this stuff is incessant now. Even a year ago, the light was diffuse and it was hard to focus.

But the long ignominious line from Lia Thomas, thru Isla Bryson, Dylan Mulvaney, Austin Killips, Mika Minio, Emily Bridges, Sarah Jane Baker and now Róisín Murphy (as victim, not perp), is absolutely peaking people.

Enough people know about the legal challenges and victories from Julie Bindel, Maya Forstater, Allison Bailey, Jo Cherry.

And the school gender debacle is coming to an explosive head. That powder keg when it goes off will so do damage to this movement and it's enablers. I pity Keir Starmer holding this particular unstable gelignite. Because the female vote will make him. But then could easily after that break him.

I was in a real funk about the victory TRA was cantering to in 2022. I feel totally different now. I hope you and others worn down by all this will as well.

Dramatico · 12/09/2023 09:53

Mmmm I wouldn't entirely agree with your assessment. Firstly I don't think humans naturally tend to altruism, mammals just don't really work that way. Hominids definitely cooperated within small groups as a means to survival, sure. But we have always been utterly vicious to 'out groups', outsiders.

Young chimps will patrol the boundaries of the group's area and if any chimps who are not part of that tribe approach, they will tear the outsider apart. Literally. Tear the outsider apart. Humans inherited this vicious in-group / out-group mentality and we see it in early hominid scapegoat ritual behaviours (which are now repeated in social media 'cancellations').

Christianity on the other hand specifically sought to override the in-group / out-group mentality by emphasisng our common humanity. This is why the Gospel writers show Christ consorting with Samaritans (BIG enemy of the Israelites) and other known societal scapegoats of the time such as tax collectors, thieves and prostitutes. The Gospel writers were attempting to show that tribalism is wrong because we are ALL equal before God, no matter how 'sinful' we may appear to be. That was an incredibly controversial stance at the time. It still is, really. 'Judge not, lest ye be judged'? That's an incredibly hard lesson. Roisin Murphy and JK Rowling certainly got judged.

In that sense, Humanism as a philosphy is basically Christianity without the founding myths. Even some of the great Humanists admitted it (and Nietchze, not a humanist but a very perceptive man, stated this outright).

A Christian based society would not protect the pure and innocent trans kid as you put it, because Christianity empaasises the communitarian impulse as being the trait human beings should cultivate. Trans ideology on the other hand is very much based on aggressive individualism - I decide what I am and YOU must accept it and kow tow to it even if it degrades your rights. In that sense, trans ideology is actually closer to Crowleyist satanism, "Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law" (as opposed to the more gentle Wiccan creed "An it harm no one, do what you will").

Also the Christian tradition strongly resists damaging / mutilating the body (see the controversial Pauline letters on circumcision and his teachings around that) so the medicalisation and surgery of trans kids would definitely be out.

I know this thread is about steam coming out of our ears, while tapping our feet to 'Let Me Know When You're Lonely Babe'.

But just wanted to say thanks to Dramatico, RealityFan and others for digging deeper into the spiritual and philosophical roots behind the sound and fury.

In a similar vein, the writer Paul Kingsnorth recently converted to Orthodox Christianity (there's a good video on YouTube where he discusses it with Rowan Williams). For Kingsnorth, finding faith has meant conversion to a strongly gender-critical stance. His new-found faith roots him in a deeper, wiser tradition than the shallow individualism and toxic fads of the culture. It gives him a place outside the culture to view it from a distance.

WarriorN · 13/09/2023 16:42

Shall I start a new thread or continue on the bbc cancels one? Easy to link again.

Anyone any thoughts?

Hey, thanks for the name check. Its really worth interrogating this phenomenon from different angles. I'm glad a bit of metaphysics has gone down well.

Kudos to Dramatico for running with the ball, I've got a lot out of the perspective on the humanist/atheist slant on all things woke/TRA, and my thanks to VitoCorleoneOfMNMafia here who has so revved me up on the concept of higher castes, and elites/professional classes transmaidens acquiescence to, and promotion of.

Its come to something when a pop star and all round disco diva can with the help of so many dumb and intransigent people provoke such rich "meaning of life" and "best way to live" philosophical discussions.

I thought it was just music. And dancing.
