virgin active changing room policy

roarrfeckingroar · 07/08/2023 11:06

Does anyone know Virgin Active's policy for changing rooms? There was a "woman" displaying male genitals while changing in the women's this morning. Women's, not family. I'll be honest, I didn't feel comfortable getting undressed. Before I'm accused of staring, it was hard to miss as the person was right where you come out of the showers.

VA aren't going to care are they?

@Clymene Thanks

It's disgraceful that this term is censored out of MN. What kind of totalitarian regime is running this site?

LulooLemon · 07/08/2023 12:51

Which acronym?

The acronym for biological males who identify as trans.

Also forms a man's 3 letter name.

LulooLemon · 07/08/2023 13:04

The fact that these terms are banned is alarming.

We need to return the position of a man who deliberately exposes his penis (regardless of what he's wearing or claiming to be) in a space reserved for women and girls is seen as a predator. All the statistics show that flashing is a gateway crime to more serious sexual offences. Even the police are being forced back to that position after the numerous disasters (including Wayne Couzens)

Report, report, report. Let the Stonewall captured police start investigating these creeps and have to defend any lack of action. I'd put money on it that a hard drive check on the men who do this will provide all the evidence needed to out them as sex offenders.

Was about to write something similar to this!

It should be taken as obvious that a male person choosing to enter the clearly marked Women's changing room and then deliberately exposing their male genitalia is aware that doing so will cause alarm and distress.

Airport code for Malaga.

Was it? I thought Beverly used the acronym relating to trans identification. May be confusing it with deletions on another thread active today.

LulooLemon · 07/08/2023 13:08

@MN, please don't just delete with a link to Talk Guidelines.

Please spell out to us all the rationale behind such censorship. I'm all ears.

Theunamedcat · 07/08/2023 13:09

Surely the fact that they were so obvious means it's deliberately exposed? I've been in communal changing rooms before everyone has their backs turned towels draped appropriately unless your staring and really watching im sure there is nothing to see (guessing as I've never stared or watched)

fortheloveofflowers · 07/08/2023 13:11

It’s the psychological term used to describe men who get their rocks off on parading as a woman.

It’s pretty much what all men have over a certain age.

fortheloveofflowers · 07/08/2023 13:12

For a predominantly female site it loved sticking up for predatory men 🤷‍♀️

LulooLemon · 07/08/2023 13:17

@MN I've just flicked through your Talk Guidelines and come across this:

" Mumsnet will always stand in solidarity with vulnerable or oppressed minorities. "
**
This thread is about AN OPPRESSED GROUP (women and girls) IN A VULNERABLE PLACE (in a state of undress in a public changing room).

By deleting inoffensive posts from concerned posters on this thread, YOU ARE ACTUALLY BREAKING YOUR OWN GUIDELINES.

Green777 · 07/08/2023 13:21

Hear hear.

@mnhq can you clearly explain why you’ve deleted some terminology and what the correct terminology should be in place of if?

I agree using a very vague and confusing ‘talk guidelines’ is not acceptable.

LulooLemon · 07/08/2023 13:23

@MNHQ

Please have a serious review of your over-controlling deletion policy.

It's pee-ing us all off.

BaronMunchausen · 07/08/2023 13:26

(never fully understood what "stand" means in phrases like that...)

JanesLittleGirl · 07/08/2023 13:28

Has Maddy been on yet to tell us that she wouldn't be bothered?

This.

Publicise it from the rooftops. The tide has turned, and Virgin are behind the bloody curve.

And yes to what Justme56 says. Ask Virgin if all their changing rooms are all now mixed sex. And if so, can they please make that quite clear, in order that people are forewarned before they arrive. Or join.

BaronMunchausen · 07/08/2023 13:33

And if they say they're "trans inclusive", what are the criteria for admitting males to female changing rooms?

Production of a GRC? Or simply the say-so of any male?

MariaVT65 · 07/08/2023 13:36

That’s awful. I’ve just read on their website that they let kids as young as 10 join as well.

I would definitely be making a complaint, and asking for a refund.

MariaVT65 · 07/08/2023 13:38

Also Op, out of curiosity, do the changing rooms have locked cubicles available? Were there any free did you notice?

My swimming pool changing rooms are mixed sex but there are always enough lockable cubicles, and I don’t even feel comfortable showering in front of men in my swimwear, so I go home and shower.

LulooLemon · 07/08/2023 13:41

From the UK Gov website regarding applying for a GRC:

" You can apply even if you have not had any gender affirming surgery or treatments, or you do not plan to have any.

So even if gym members do have GRCs, they are still likely to have the bodies of their sex.

Pucksandwich · 07/08/2023 13:49

You should absolutely complain to the management. It should be absolutely clear that men are allowed to change in the women’s changing rooms so customers know in advance. I would not allow my teenage daughter into such a changing room nor would I use one myself. It’s their duty to make it clear, which they won’t want to do because they know it will put women and girls off. Everything has to be done under the radar and without consent.

Sothisiit · 07/08/2023 13:51

Unfortunately the lefties of this world don't recognise the if Steven want to call herself Stephanie and wear makeup, female clothing the strut into a designated female space and say they identify as a female that's not comfortable for real females who find it intrusive.
Clothes, make up, body alterations do not make males female. Just a much as a female who has had a mastectomy can become male.
Chromosones can't be changed and that is what scientifically decides.
Personally I'd complain to management, report the exposure to the police and request my membership refund.

Totally agree with this.

Apparently 14 year olds are allowed into some/all branches unsupervised. (Age 10+ is supervised)

I’d be asking the management straight up if they’d be comfortable letting their 14 year old daughter into changing rooms where someone else gets their dick out.

re: chromosomes etc - I certainly agree with you when it comes to women's sports and so on, but a man who's had 'full surgery' in a female dressing room is to me very, very different to one who's not had anything done at all.
