Seems a massive scandal has been going on Aberystwyth. It seems that the Women's Officer was targeted by the local Pride group and received death threats and was forced out.

Judging from Charlotte's twitter feed she doesn't even seem to be that gender critical. She just seems like a lefty women who knows her own mind.

The University sector in Wales is full of attacks on free speech. The Feminist society at Swansea University was closed down and there was a large protest at Swansea University over a Gender Critical meeting.

Cardiff University academics were targeted over free thinking more threats of violence:

If past events are anything to go by this may be ignored and swept under the carpet. The media seldom mention things in Wales. Obviously the Senedd don't care. However the clock is ticking, people are organising, reality inevitably bites.

Wales has always been, primarily, a working class, Labour voting heartland - certainly in the mining and industrial areas. However, the Labour WG is totally captured/Stonewalled and also seems on a mission to make itself different from the government in London - similar in some ways to the SNP stance in Scotland. Ideas about gender are embedded in govt, in areas of education and pretty much everywhere else here, it feels.Plaid Cymru is similarly captured.
As a lifelong Socialist and Labour voter this is very painful. I admit I personally am afraid to express my views - and to see this oppressive belief system operating in our universities is appalling.
Labour are unlikely to be voted out and so have carte blanche to push all this stuff on us.
Depresses the hell out of me 😞

Me too, frightening when you see the posts labour and plaid put up on FB. When you see the first minister waving gay issues in Qatar in the face of his hosts I was appalled.

My DCs went to English universities no way would I have wanted them at that Mickey mouse university with their odd outlook

I am not critical specifically of Welsh unis - I went to an English uni, one DC to an English uni, the other DC to a Welsh one and DH went to the Polytechnic South Wales many many years ago! They all gave us a very good education.
This kind of thinking seems endemic among some students (and staff) and there have been examples of the ideology being prevalent in many institutions around the UK. I am concerned that we in Wales have gone for it hook, line and sinker in all areas and am not sure how to push back against that.
