'Do you ever discuss a topic and think: ‘I’d love to hear that on Woman’s Hour’? Well, here’s your chance! Listener Week is coming up & we'd like to hear from YOU! Whether it's personal stories or guest suggestions, let us know what you want to hear'

The comments are interesting, but clearly all the many women commenting are not the right kind of women for Womans Hour.

I would nominate:
RMW
LOJ
Stella Creasey
Wes Streeting
India Willoughby

But only if the BBC provided a serious interviewer.

Oooh Jenni Murray / IW for balance 😂

(JM interviewed IW years ago and was audibly infuriated though couldn't say much on air.)

Oh, really? Lovely!

That was January

JulesJules · 31/07/2023 08:17

Helen Joyce
A Sports special with Sharron, FPFW (& Martina??)
LGB Alliance, Bev and Kate
Baroness Nicholson and Rosie Duffield
Kathleen Stock (again)

mrshoho · 31/07/2023 08:23

I do love how we have so many intelligent, well informed, talented Women to nominate from all walks. Any of these Women from Helen to JKR would be a joy to listen to. I'm so looking forward to the debate opening up across our screens in the coming years so the ideology will be exposed for what it is.

All of these are excellent suggestions, though I think they've had Sharron fairly recently. I'd also love it if they had someone like Jane Clare Jones, who is absolutely brilliant but doesn't seem to get invited onto mainstream media.

To my mind, Helen Joyce is the most eloquent advocate we have of the gc position, though. She is phenomenal. I think there's something to be said for focusing our efforts on getting her asked on - though I also suspect that the more people demand her, the more WH dig their heels in out of sheer obstinacy.

JulesJules · 31/07/2023 08:43

I missed the obvious JKR off my list.
I'd love to hear more about her setting up Beira's Place as well as, you know, <waves hand> all this l

has anyone suggested Helen Joyce?

(seriously though, she would be amazing and is such a ridiculous oversight)

how about Sally 'women's skeletons didn't exist before the enlightenment' Hines?

I genuinely think ol' Sal should be given free range to publicly explain her nonsense at any and all opportunity.

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 31/07/2023 08:50

Let's have Maggie Chapman explaining to a neutral interviewer why women banged up in Scotland should run the risk of being raped by their cell mate

that would be a good one

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 31/07/2023 08:53

Julia Donnelly, Chair of the Board of Directors of Rape Crisis Scotland explaining why women who have been raped should submit to reeducation before they can access help from her organisation and why a man who enjoyed larping as a woman is the best person to be CEO of Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre

Helleofabore · 31/07/2023 09:00

Have they had Raquel Rosario Sanchez on? Jo Phoenix?

Sally could talk about how we should challenge people's assumptions that they want to have an able bodied child, meaning it's OK for women to dose themselves up with any old crap that affirms their gender identity during pregnancy

that's of interest to women, surely?

Mridhul Wadhwa could explain why women who don't want to talk to him about their rape are in need of re education.

Have they had Raquel Rosario Sanchez on? Jo Phoenix?

Jo was on 5 live with that lovely Irish ex radio 1 DJ recently; he was really good at hosting the discussion around prisons and male and female offending

I would LOVE to see Jenni Murray speak freely.

Who is the trans woman in the clip with Julie Bindel, please?

ArabeIIaScott · 31/07/2023 10:56

Jane Fae.

I'm on Twitter. Am I allowed to nominate or not?

Take your pick from Helen Joyce, Kathleen Stock, Maya, Alison, KJK, Stephanie D A, Nic Williams against any of the usual flounders. Articulate knowledgeable women.

BTW, Has anyone seen the image below with the letters of GAP rearranged?

Mollyollydolly · 31/07/2023 11:13

I suggested Helen because she's brilliant. No-one talks with the clarity she does.
Secondly, suggesting Helen has become a point of principle for me surrounding the issue of Free Speech. As far as I'm aware, she's never appeared on Sky News, Channel 4 News, ITV News or BBC News since she wrote Trans.
There is definitely a 'blacklist' official or not, and I think it's good to highlight this and shame the MSM TV sites into seeing how wrong they've got this.

rabbitwoman · 31/07/2023 11:21

Helen Joyce used to be asked on all the mainstream platforms when the subject was economics as the editor of the economist, so they all have her contact details......

It's fascinating how this is playing out and I personally cannot wait for Glinner's 10 part comedy drama adaptation for Netflix. Meryl Steeep as Helen, or Cait Blanchet, and Nicole Kidman as JKR. John Hamm as Glinner, or maybe Liam Neeson. Melissa Macarthy gunning for her Oscar nomination as Maya.

Jamie Lee Curtis as Susie Green.

IcakethereforeIam · 31/07/2023 11:31

John Malkovich as IW.

Dinopawus · 31/07/2023 11:32

Brian Blessed as Isla?
