Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Could you be 'de-banked' for being gender-critical?

heckmuffin · 18/07/2023 18:24

I'm sure Nigel Farage has very few fans here. However, in the light of his bank, Coutts, closing his bank accounts due to his political beliefs, could this happen to gender-critical women too?

Farage has obtained documents from Coutts which make it clear that the bank gave him the boot because his views didn't align with their 'inclusive' purpose.

I wonder if GC women such as Posie Parker have had similar issues? Or if this is something that could happen? Believing in humans being a sexually dimorphic species is, as we all know, 'not inclusive'.

One of the big things to come out of this is Stonewall, unelected entity. It needs to be shut down asap

She sat next to the BBC person who broke the story the very night before the story broke at a Nat West event.

I mean, come on. If it wasn't her she'd have been apologising for this 'leak', with a promise to investigate, in her apology letter right?

Luckily the BBC reporter is on hand to confirm it wasn't her, oh hang on...he seems to have gone silent.

A journalist can’t be made to reveal his sources. But perhaps the Treasury Select Committee needs to be issuing an urgent invitation to Rose.
despite a long career history dealing with corporate fuckwittage I find it hard to believe she would have been so daft. But they certainly need to explain the leak, I agree.

Much as I dislike stonewall it’s hard to
pin this one on them if you read the correspondence which has been disclosed

I find it genuinely frightening that people like Curlew Kate and several others in the NF Coutts affair threads see no problem with the bank’s action (by accepting a statement which has been proved to be untrue) because of personal loathing of NF.
What next? It’s ok for a hospital to refuse to operate on a patient because he/she has views unacceptable to the hospital directors?

During the pandemic Twitter was full of people saying that people who didn't wear masks or somehow or another had in their opinion transgressed the rules shouldn't get hospital treatment. As I said at the time, some people are positively gagging to live in a police state.

Amidst all the noise. The bank has re-iterated it's offer for him to bank with Nat West. He was never debanked. He just doesn't get to boast about being with Coutts any more.
Isn't it about time Sunak paid attention to running the country?

No but a journalist can say 'Can confirm, I did not get this information from the dinner the night before I broke it when I sat next to the Nat West CEO but I cannot name my source'.

I did wonder who the hell would have the balls to leak such personal sensitive information to the BBC.

He was offered a personal bank account, not a business one. Which effectively stops you from being able to have any seperation and is required if you are a business owner.

Turns out he isn't the only one. Tens of thousands of people are being debanked. I think that is quite important for British Citizens don't you?

I'd be disappointed if any PM just ignored the exposure of such practices in banking. In fact, it's quite shocking to me that Starmer has refused to comment, despite seeing the evidence he has. You'd think he'd be interested in people's rights being infringed but apparently he's ok with that. Following and not leading.

If this really is a widespread thing, why have the banks done this? Are they hoping for Stonewall gold stars for their sticker chart or is it unrelated to GC views..?

Same reason as all the other orgs - their ESG ratings. Basically the same thing as the Stonewall index (and it's possible that the Stonewall index might feed into it), but more significant because there are a range of financial things predicated on ESG scores.

Just as the can cut Farage off for non-compliance, a company can be cut off for non-compliance - or even insufficient performance and flag-waving.

This was a reasonable 15-minute video on the Dylan Mulvaney mess, going into it.

And yes, GC views are absolutely part of the set of things bad for your ESG rating.

Quoting from above, they'd claim them to not be "values that serve the common good and that treat people with dignity and respect", and hence "when considering our stance specifically on ESG/diversity the comments/articles are not in line with our views or our purpose".

You get your ESG score up by having things like Drag Queen Story Hour - that's "diversity" and "treating people with dignity and respect", you see.

Thank you, I’ll give this a watch. So biological women don’t count amongst the people to be treated with dignity and respect then? What a surprise.

I’m not sure that will be an answer to a discrimination claim against coutts?
any discrimination lawyers around to opine? I’m not on twitter anymore which is where I usually get my snippets of info on this topic

You don't think thousands (if not more) people being refused banking and effectively turned into non-persons and unable to function in society isn't a big issue that the govt should be concerned about?

You think that tax payer funded entities monitoring citizens extensively, keeping dossiers on them and then lying to the taxpayer funded state broadcaster about why someone was refused a bank account isn't a big issue that govt should be concerned about?

You think that banks appointing themselves as moral arbiters and deciding that (perfectly legal) opinions and personal relationships are sufficient to ban people isn't a big issue govts should be concerned about?

Starmer loves this shit. He’s just about smart enough to know he needs to keep his gob shut now but he’ll be unleashing a flood of this crap if he gets elected.

StefanosHill · 21/07/2023 08:47

I thought there is a change in law due to this

New law to curb banks that shut down your account

So yeh I’d expect the PM to say something

Black and white minstrel misogynist men with clown make-up, taking the piss out of women, deserve dignity and respect, not actual women. There is a special place in hell for the women throwing the rest of us under the bus and participating in this.

Tha Labour Party are just the happy clappy wing of the Tory Party.

And have been for years.

Anyone who thinks they care about the average run of the mill prole needs to wake the fuck up.

Dossiers exist.

Labour may be in trouble if a class action by ex Labour members implicates them in data protection breeches? Maybe branch and constituency SARs need to be sent out! These lists may later be used by banks.

Jennifer James had all of the receipts for Wes Streeting along with Angela Rather collating this information on women. Lloyd Russell-Moyle wrote about half a TERF per constituency.

The new baby of the house has been elected, he was a special advisor to Wes Streeting.

How many will lie, get angry and command you say that a man is a women?

It’s typical thinking from the left. They prefer to punish people for wrong think than protect the average person.

So side with a bank for the elite instead.

They’d give it all away. And so would Starmer.

Agatha, I agree, but it was at a dinner so maybe she’d had a few drinks and even a couple of glasses of wine can affect judgment.

During Covid the Labour party just kept calling for more prohibitive measures and more lockdowns.

So yes this will go full deck of Ace's when they come in. None of the senior women in their cabinet can even say what a woman is. They're happy to throw women with less agency and power under the bus. I doubt they'd give two hoots if a cash strapped woman down on her luck...perhaps skillfully manipulated out of her job for her GC views, had her only bank account withdrawn under some lame front of an excuse.

MrsDanvers was it you who said people are gagging for a police state? The search facility on here is inefficient.
Anyway, very true, provided of course it’s the ‘right’ sort of police state.
