I don't know what is legally correct here, but I don't see that it can be a good principle to allow someone to use that kind of defence.

Even if we imagine that he didn't intend to incite violence, he has explicitly called for violence, and is as negligent as it gets.

And yes there is a real risk that people will act on this because we have already seen this kind of violence.

He's still in prison for months though, at least until his next parole hearing. So that should give him pause for thought (hopefully).

So someone calls Patrick Harvie a ‘deviant’, a word he’s used to describe others on social media and that person is arrested and charged, yet it’s a-okay to incite people to punch someone who does not believe in gender ideology.

This man has been institutionalised. He appears to have mental health issues/personality disorders. He has explicitly said he can't handle life outside prison and feels more comfortable inside.

He has a documented history of extreme violence. He openly threatens women.

Also disturbing that according to the report the Magistrate allowed MJB to give a "performance" from the dock and allowed his adoring fans to clap etc..

Hardly an exhibition of impartial justice in action.

Can you imagine a woman at a Let Women Speak event saying ‘punch a trans person’? (No I can’t either as the events centre women and their voices).

it would never happen as violence seems to be the more ‘go to’ response from males and IF it ever did, that woman would have the book thrown at her (and rightly so).

All this talk about clamping down on VAWG is just complete hot air.
