Tunnocks

I have seen it quoted on here for many years that Tunnocks are to be supported as they support women's rights. I have looked on their website and social media and can see nothing to support this rumour. Does anyone have any evidence? Thanks.

Oooh - toblerone! They used to make a toasted coconut one - I used to get dh to get me one (or two) of the giant ones when he was going through an airport, but he is semi retired now, and does 3 days a week mainly from home, so fewer giant toblerones for me. And the bastards have stopped making the toasted coconut one.

But Tunnocks caramel wafers to look forward to tomorrow, so life is not entirely tragic. Oh, and a giant empire biscuit too - another Scottish delicacy.

Tricyrtis2022 · 14/07/2023 16:18

With the Toblerone issue, I'd be inclined to roast some coconut, add it to melted Toblerone and then pour into a suitable silicone mould. Okay, a bit of a faff but it could work!

Somanyquestionstoaskaboutthis · 14/07/2023 17:05

I have had to hide the toblerone from myself. Luckily I am menopausal so could well forget where I put it. It is an airport size one, but no coconut on it

Somanyquestionstoaskaboutthis · 14/07/2023 17:07

Do you think type MN diabetes will become a thing?

Somanyquestionstoaskaboutthis · 14/07/2023 15:18

@terryleather I hope that’s as well as Tunnocks and ie not being Tunnocks Exclusionary there.
Beetle that’s impressive. I’m on 2 tea cakes and 5 pieces of fruit and nut toblerone ( someone mentioned it on another thread, always MN fault) and feeling a bit queasy.

I am very partial to a Caramel Log, enjoy a Snowball, can take or leave a Wafer (of either type) but think Teacakes are hugely overrated and I wouldn't care if they disappeared off the face of the earth. Their wrappers are a design icon though.

My DB died recently, sadly far too young, and I made brownies with chopped up Caramel Logs in them for the funeral tea as he adored them so much.

GCautist · 14/07/2023 17:18

I must be a tunnocks excluding radical feminist - can’t stand teacakes

Sudden onset?

Somanyquestionstoaskaboutthis · 14/07/2023 17:43

Shocked at people saying they can’t stand teacakes!
@MrsTerryPratchett Yes, I predict in about a weeks time

Somanyquestionstoaskaboutthis · 14/07/2023 17:44

Terry what a lovely idea for the brownies to include something he loved so much

ArabeIIaScott · 14/07/2023 17:46

terryleather I'm so sorry for your loss. Flowers

I do hope this thread is bringing many happy memories to the fore. 🍫(someone needs to get a Tunnocks emoji sorted)

Been stuck in a car for several hours, I found my mind idly turning. Ladies and,...er...sinner I give you transhaggis

Whilst waiting for my tea to cook I think I made good use of the time and the Tunnocks packaging.

I made fridge magnets!

Good God, Beetle, you're so creative in so many ways.

terryleather · 14/07/2023 18:30

Thanks Arabella, Somany and Boiled.

Yes this thread is very cheering - don't think my DB knew about the existence of mini Caramel Logs but he would have feckin' loved them.

I'm thinking that in the same way mini Diams are better than the bars because more chocolate, the mini Logs would be better because more toasted coconut...

ArabeIIaScott · 12/07/2023 16:50

Er, I'd avoid tinned haggis. You might want to try roasting it instead of boiling it, though tbh I just microwave it. A good haggis is honestly delicious. Lovely blend of spices and nubbly texture and sheepiness.

Tinned haggis makes an excellent stuffing. For chicken, pork roast etc. I used to work with a lad who swore by tinned haggis on cheese on toast as a hangover cure.

I haven't tried it myself.

Mini daim bars you say (in original or orange)

Nah. Never heard of such a thing.

They were straight until his lordship got angry and tail swished.

I've always been curious to try a deep fried Mars bar, just a fun sized one though. Or even a teeny minature one.

A deep fried Mars Bar is on my bucket list. Buckfast was also on my bucket list until a couple of years ago when I bought a half bottle. I paid about a fiver and was determined to drink it, it took 4 days as it tastes like Benelyn.

ProtocolDroid · 14/07/2023 18:50

At the risk of sullying this thread with imitators…

I see our teacakes and raise you a SuperDickmanns.
This German delicacy is a slightly, ahem, prouder version of our beloved Tunnocks tea cake, but with a wafer base instead of biscuit. Harder to nibble the chocolate off the marshmallow, and more likely to result in a sticky, chocolate-streaked face, but oh so very worth it.

Mind you, drinking a half bottle of Buckie in 4 days makes me an alkie by MN standards.

I could drink a whole bottle of benelyin in one sitting if I didn't think it would do something terrible to me... Maybe I need to get me some Buckfast!

It's understandable, with a name like "LGB-Alliance" it can trick people and companies who don't know who they are into thinking they are an actual gay rights org (as opposed to an anti-trans one).

I didn't see Stonewall intervening in the ECtHR case against Russia to win the right to legal recognition of same-sex relationships throughout Council of Europe countries. LGB Alliance intervened. Intervening on the side of the petitioners seems a pretty pro-gay act to me.

I have been known to frequent a cafe where my preferred lunch choice is a haggis & cheese toastie, they are super delish.

I worked with a Scottish woman once. I was her secret Santa so I got her a bottle of Buckfast and a six pack of irn-bru. Those were different times.
