I have seen it quoted on here for many years that Tunnocks are to be supported as they support women's rights. I have looked on their website and social media and can see nothing to support this rumour. Does anyone have any evidence? Thanks.

😁 Obviously someone at your Sainsbury's who has power is reading the thread and has realised there is a potential best seller in dark caramel Tunnocks!

I was doing a last update on my shopping last night and on noticing the fact the mini caramel logs are basically twice the price per mouthful as the normal sized ones I switched to two packets of normal sized caramel logs. Email this morning and it's obvious I have the summer holidays shopper. 16 caramel logs substituted for 8 caramel wafers!

And I've still got to wait until this evening for my shopping!

I was looking forward to the caramel logs with the little bits of coconut that end up everywhere. I feel cheated.

I may go for a little cry

Salted caramel teacakes, you say? Orange, mint, strawberry and almond flavours?

Or did I dream all that?

The only salted caramel teacakes I can find are M&S / Ocado, who have both gone in the bin as far as I'm concerned.

I'm still Tunnock hunting.

Oh yes. They are wrapped in blue foil. We can only get them online at twice the price of milk chocolate in the supermarket so they all belong to me.

Our local Sainsbury’s sells them - but we are in Scotland.

I need a caramel wafer (or several) now.

Oh I disagree. I think our resident genderists change a lot of minds. Just not in the direction they are aiming for.

One of the things I love about Mumsnet is the quiet humorous wisdom. It so clearly shows up the emptiness of the misogynists’ huffing and puffing.

This would be an unmitigated disaster if I tried it, but I am sure other MNers would be more than capable:

https://www.tastemade.co.uk/videos/tunnocks-tea-cakes/

I'm a pretty good baker and have used the Peyton & Byrne recipe but I do end up with quite a lot of melted chocolate everywhere.

I've adapted their recipe to make snowballs but that involves dipping a "snowball" held by 2 forks into melted chocolate and then rolling it in dessicated coconut. It's extremely messy.

Boiledbeetle · 13/07/2023 17:52

Shopping has arrived. I couldn't decide which to eat first. Then remembered I'm a grown up and can eat all of them together

Tricyrtis2022 · 13/07/2023 18:08

Which do you like best?

Y'know I don't really do sugar, it makes me feel weird, but I decided to try a Caramel anyway because otherwise I'd feel left out. Okay, it did make me feel weird, but I actually quite enjoyed it and now I feel part of something.

Sounds pretty good, though.

@Tricyrtis2022 😂

Boiled I’m impressed both with your Tunnocksing and your book placement.

Now I need the snowballs, is that going to have to be online?

Best thing about being grown up identified.

Boiledbeetle · 13/07/2023 20:49

So in preference order (and I'm including caramel logs even though they are not here this evening)
In last place tea cake
In third place snowball
In second place caramel log
And the winner is caramel wafer

Washed down with a glass of Irn Bru (original recipe full fat sugar version)

Fulls back into sugar coma.

Oh dear did I mange to get the book in yet another photo! Oopsy!

Boiledbeetle · 13/07/2023 20:56

Snowballs are in most supermarkets I think!

Boiledbeetle · 13/07/2023 20:58

@Tricyrtis2022 the caramel wafer is the most superior of all their products. Given sugar isn't your thing I think you chose well, the snowball and tea cake are like main lining sugar!

JanesLittleGirl · 13/07/2023 22:32

I'm suffering from sensory overload. I was introduced to Tunnocks teacakes a few months ago. I could handle that. Now it's wafers and caramels and snowballs. Please slow down for the love of Christ.

Good evening and welcome to this evening's TAA meeting... I'm seeing a lot of new faces

I will give the tea cake and snowball a wide berth!

The reason I started craving a caramel bar is that, when I was little, I sometimes used to be invited to tea at the house of one of my dad's receptionists and she would often give me Tunnocks caramel. I'd never had one before and thought them the most delicious thing ever made. I only ever had a few but remembered them now and then over the years, so when you all started to talk about them, the temptation to try one again was too much. Glad I did, they still taste the same as they did in the 1960s and whilst they're still too sweet, having one occasionally will be nice.

SinnerBoy · 14/07/2023 09:17

Ooh, a picture of a snowball! I would of killed for one, at the age of ten.

Well, maybe tried to wheedle an extra one, rather than actually kill.

@Boiledbeetle you are my hero. I've been caught up in the thinking that I could only have one at a time, but your post has made me see the light. I'm going to have a Tunnock's picnic for my lunch and no-one can stop me!

Tallisker · 14/07/2023 11:39

I went to a ceilidh in Edinburgh once and they had proper Scottish food - plates of Tunnocks tea cakes, shortbread and vats of Irn Bru. It was fab

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 14/07/2023 13:35

I may or may not have 6 boxes of snowballs being delivered by amazon between 1.30 and 3.30
