I have seen it quoted on here for many years that Tunnocks are to be supported as they support women's rights. I have looked on their website and social media and can see nothing to support this rumour. Does anyone have any evidence? Thanks.

Main Street Uddingston has just become my No. 1 holiday destination!

I spent a weekend in Bothwell a few years ago for a friend's wedding. About 15 of us walked into Uddingston the day before the wedding just to go to the bakery.

That is my kind of pilgrimage.

I've always been curious to try a deep fried Mars bar, just a fun sized one though. Or even a teeny minature one.

The chippie near me used to deep fry pretty much any sweetie you might want. Apart from Creme Eggs - apparently they explode in the fryer.

ArabeIIaScott · 12/07/2023 22:46

And apparently teacakes explode at high altitude. Someone should take one on holiday to test this.

It's worth it just for the stop at the services on the M6 if nothing else! (If it's the services i'm thinking of anyway!)

Tebay. Heaven. Their scotch eggs are divine.

Really treat yourself… Tebay then Cairn Lodge when you enter Scotland.

I am fully outing myself if my friends spot this but last month I stopped at Cairn Lodge, Tebay and Gloucester services all on the same day 🤣

Tallisker · 12/07/2023 23:01

Blimey AnotherDay that's an epic drive!

I've done Gloucester and Tebay together before. I've also considered moving there so Tebay can be my local cornershop. Still haven't ruled it out

This is very old but still one of my favourite things on the Internet. Two loons create a gigantic Tunnocks teacake:

NB: even though I can find the page through Google it's giving a 404 error. So just Google "pimpthatsnack" and tunnocks. I promise it's worth it.

Pimp that snack

I make homemade teacakes using a recipe from Paton & Byrne. Their filling is a very thick uncooked meringue and doesn't use gelatin. I've used it in homemade snowballs as well.

Ten Tonneocks Teacake - Pimp That Snack - Epically Supersized Food

One cold and lonely Sunday, we decided to Pimp a snack……. But what, we asked ourselves? In search of an answer, off we trot to the land of Morrisons, aisle 16 : BISCUITS. After finding the prospect of all the biscuits quite frankly unchallenging, we st...

Peyton and Byrne? I make the Chocolate and Hazelnut cookies from their cookbook which are so good.

Yes Peyton & Byrne.

Is there a difference?

It's the naughty step for you, I'm afraid.

Black pudding is lush. Also a superfood.

Sainsbury's do Clonality. And the same white pudding, which my daughter loves.

BlackForestCake · 13/07/2023 01:10

Literally the normal tablet but with desiccated coconut. And maybe coconut milk?

I doubt it. You wouldn't have got coconut milk in 1960s Scotland where this confection presumably originated, and it wouldn't be sugary enough.

But I've never been able to get it right just like grannie beetle made.

You have now put me in the mood for Scottish macaroon - this could be a rainy day activity to blow DD’s mind by turning mashed potatoes into confectionery!

WhisperingAutistic · 11/07/2023 20:38

Didn't they refuse to back down to TRAs on twitter when they supplied their tea cakes to a gender critical event? Or something along those lines

Yes I remember that.

The widespread delight was only half addiction-informed.

Hey! 1970s! I'm not that old! But her recipes would have predated me by many years. I wonder when she added the coconut version to her repertoire.

And yes Scotland. So just the coconut itself. I think I'm just going to have to tinker with the quantity. One day I'll figure out what she did!

I've never made those. Eaten yes. Made no. I may have to have a go!

And so to bed, to sleep, perchance to dream... of Tunnocks!

Somanyquestionstoaskaboutthis · 13/07/2023 11:28

I’m usually a firm believer in hard facts and science, but for once I’m flummoxed- which of you magically got dark chocolate caramels into my local Sainsbury's this morning for the first time ever?

The first one passed my quality control but I need to check another whilst watching beetles videos, just to make sure
