Transmen who want us all to accept that they are actual men. But they are a subset of men who can give birth to babies..
Which only women can do, in fact.

And still claim that they are men. After giving birth to babies. From their wombs.

And the presenter on R4 is actually going with it. And sympathising with the person that obviously men can give birth. Or is he just presenting it so that the audience can draw their own conclusions?

Whatever it is, it is winding me up no end. I have listened to R4 for the past 50 years - 50 YEARS!! every night without fail, while I potter about in the kitchen, tidying up and popping a bit of baking in the oven. I love radio 4, it has seen me through many traumas. Divorce, death of parents, death of sibling, permanently life altering illness of my child. Radio 4 has always been there as a stalwart support. A reality check. Reassurance that the rest of the world continues as normal - ordinary, normal even if it's bad news or a war between foreign nations. Right up to 1am and "Sailing By"

I love Sailing By. I find it, at the same time, both soothing and sad (because it's a reminder of times past)

But the shite that I've just listened to has totally wrecked it for me.
What a load of utter bollocks they have just allowed on air.

Unless they're just airing it to show how ludicrous and self absorbed some people can be. . . . .

Really hope that's what it turns out to be.

Of course it’s a fetish. Why does a man who cannot and never will be able to have a baby Insist that he is breast feeding.

Quite apart from being child abuse, it’s a fetish. The fact that you are projecting your faux outrage shows batshittery, not some progressive enlightenment. Get a life…and a biology class. You need it.

Do you remember Kaleidoscope? I still miss that programme.

I used to listen to Radio 4 all the time for many years. It became so woke I stopped about 4 years ago and never listen to it. We also rarely watch BBC TV, many more alternatives now.

the BBC is obsessed with ‘issues’ it has become Guardian Radio

Swrigh1234 · 07/07/2023 06:37

Like other said OP, bin R4 and the BBC. It needs to be de funded. We should not be paying for this drivel and dangerous nonsense. The BBC was once the most prestigious broadcaster in the world. Now an akin to a far left Marxist propaganda machine.

LizziesTwin · 07/07/2023 06:37

One would think that getting pregnant and giving birth would be far too upsetting for a man like Freddie, after all he was born in the wrong body and rejected his female body. How could a man possibly cope with his body acting so unnaturally? It must have been deeply upsetting for him & his wife? Why didn’t his wife have a baby? If you want to break gender norms do so but having a baby is the most womanly thing you can possibly do, don’t make me pretend you’re a man after you’ve given birth.

lucya66 · 07/07/2023 06:38

Can’t you listen to something you disagree with sometimes and simply be ok that you disagree @OnePotPolly ?

if you disagree it’s not the end of the world. you can go on listening if you wish.

You can listen to this for another view of the world I think.

I am all for live and let live. If you want to have a beard, put on a frock and insist everyone calls you Deborah, crack on.

But this movement is a whole world away from live and let live.
It insists that I believe Deborah is a woman, and should be welcome in spaces designed for women.

It also insists i believe the impossible. That people can change sex and men can give birth.

It also does not consider the rights of children fully. The right for all children to know who their mother and father are, the rights for them to not be fed hormine induced goo, being at best be an unwitting participant in affirming an adults chosen gender identity and at worst a prop in a fetish.

If i was left alone to my beleifs and kids were kept out of this, i would have no beef here. But I am not, and kids are not. So here we are. Fighting the fight.

IAmNoLady · 07/07/2023 06:47

I remember when Radio 4, including programmes like PM used to be amusing.

I remember a time wherever commissioned comedy shows that were actually funny.

I still sometimes listen to Ukrainecast or some of their podcast series. But have switched off their standard R4 content completely.

Caradonna · 07/07/2023 06:50

Evan Davies gets an excited lilt in his voice whenever there is an article on trans stuff - haven't heard any lately on pm so suspect there were complaints.

Caradonna · 07/07/2023 06:52

I listen to the 'old' progs - Thinking allowed, Law in Action, Word of Mouth, A Good Read.

MurielThrockmorton · 07/07/2023 06:53

I listened to radio four right from my late teens / early 20s, I used to automatically put it on when I was pottering around the house, but I also pretty much never listen to it these days. I initially stopped listening in the morning because of the various male aggressive presenters on Today, particularly John Humphries, I decided my levels of stress just didn't need it, but the woke nonsense doesn't help. It's a shame because I enjoyed switching it on. and just listening randomly to whatever program was on, so I'd learn about things that I wouldn't purposefully listen to a podcast about. I tried to find a different radio station to listen to, but none of them really seemed what I was looking for.

megletthesecond · 07/07/2023 06:54

I had to turn Rylans evening programme off yesterday (and I usually like it). Freddy would not accept that he is playing into all the sexism and stereotypes he claims to reject.

Noicant · 07/07/2023 06:55

What I struggle to understand is that not using a transmans pronouns or acknowledging them as male could lead to triggering dysphoria so bad that it can increase suicidal ideation but being pregnant doesn’t.

Perfect28 · 07/07/2023 06:57

Sorry but this thread is hilarious. Radio 4 is extremist and Marxist? Honestly if you believe that all it does it shows how far society has shifted to the right doesn't it, something we should be deeply afraid of. The world is full of things we don't like, I thought you were against cancel culture, or is it only when one of yours is cancelled that it's objectionable?

Quiverer · 07/07/2023 07:01

Who on earth only listens to the radio or TV to hear opinions they agree with?

They're not trying to get R4 cancelled though. It's not a boycott like bud light/AB

They seem more sad that they no longer want to listen.

gogomoto · 07/07/2023 07:04

I didn't listen last night but it's a series with 8 views, this is just one of those, late night and meant to be thought provoking. Hardly a "cancel the whole network" situation. I listen to many shows on radio 4 and they do broadcast gc views too

Backtothe90splease · 07/07/2023 07:06

I gave up with Radio 4 a few years ago.

Embrace podcasts OP. I listen to loads, a few from the BBC sounds app (generally more or less) but loads from Spotify. Sometimes audio books from Audible. I spend much more time listening than watching TV.

gogomoto · 07/07/2023 07:08

@Perfect28

Completely agree. Unfortunately some people are now so intolerant that if you don't agree with them you must be cancelled

All of you here spending your days posting incessantly about what others choose to do with their bodies...

THIS thread was at least as much about what’s being done to the innocent (and completely lacking in agency) babies caught up in the aftermath of what “others choose to do with their bodies.”

Men artificially inducing lactation, and forcing the resultant product on their infants, is not something anyone should be celebrating. Even TRA cheerleaders don’t (because they can’t) make the claim that it’s good for the baby.

The milk isn’t produced in enough quantity, doesn’t adapt to the child’s immunity needs and needs to be forced into production by the use of drugs and manipulation.

Men ‘feeding’ their baby is about pandering to their dysphoria (at best).

just for a little balance, as apparently that’s important to you - non-carrying women (eg from lesbian couples) have also been able to breastfeed through a combination of drugs (similar to oral contraceptives) and stimulation. It’s a pretty magical and powerful thing, ime. Modern medicine is incredible, and although there might not be long term studies into the effects, hormones and their actions on the body of both adults and gestating infants are extremely well understood.

TBH, the people saying ‘we don’t know what it does to the body’ sound a little like the antivaxxers who were scared of the long term effects of the CV-19 vaccinations.

If you have concerns about the welfare of babies gestated and fed by trans men, perhaps it would benefit you to read some scientific literature on the subject.

If it’s just a knee jerk reaction against trans men giving birth, perhaps you could think about why it upsets you so much.

I don’t understand, myself, how trans men reconcile what to me is a very female act with how they see themselves and their bodies, as men, but it also doesn’t affect me or my life in any way if they want to carry a child, so I don’t get involved. Bit like abortions - their body, their choice.

borntobequiet · 07/07/2023 07:09

I still listen to R4 quite a lot. But I make an official complaint about obvious bias or inaccurate reporting on these issues. For lesser complaints I email the programme direct.

BartholemewHolmes · 07/07/2023 07:10

It is biased unfortunately

I still find some programmes useful but only just

mintlily · 07/07/2023 07:10

I switched to Times Radio a while ago, ever since I found myself shouting at Radio 4 on almost every subject. Israel, the environment, Brexit, trans issues... The bias was just getting laughable.

Bringonthesunforthewashing · 07/07/2023 07:15

Grimchmas · 07/07/2023 00:30

I fucked up my female body by fucking with her hormones with birth control for decades. Apparently this is something many of us only find out when reaching our 40s. That's same sex hormones - taking cross sex hormones is undoubtedly going to do more damage, and that's before factoring in a child.

The true cost of this trend may never be fully counted. It certainly won't be accountable for, the doctors who prescribed it will be long since retired by the time the trans identifying people's babies grow old enough to see the signs.

I am interested in the pill messing up our bodies!

Please could you tell me why?
