Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Should threads be moved out of here as well as in?

Just musing really.

We have threads moved into this board if monitors / MN think they are about sex & gender.

But we have recently had the Disney thread, which wasn't really about sex and gender but a wider issue, being used to say that FWR is racist and needs an even closer eye on it. We now have the great awakening thread which is only about sex and gender tangentially and more about conspiracy theory placed on this board.

Should the FWR users be actively reporting non sex&gender threads requesting they be moved out to somewhere more appropriate?

When you say 'it happened' what is 'it'?

In reference to: I've never seen any racism in FWR, quite the opposite in fact. !!!!!!!!!

I just took a look at that thread in Site Stuff, the one about this board that's been mentioned already. I've not read the whole thing but the Annecy thread was referenced there too by BodegaSushi, on the first page, as an example of racism on this board. This was quickly corrected (on the same page) by a poster pointing out it was an 'In the News' thread, and yet we've now had the same claim repeated here.

BodegaSushi Did you mean to link to a different thread? If yes, please can we see it?

I think youll find the Annecy thread was originally posted here, because I remember wondering why it was.

It may well have been moved.

However admirable that you are putting so much effort into pointing out what you percieve to be false allegations but accept superficial results that prove your point to then entitle you to demand a clarification.

Do you have the date stamp of when the thread was originally created and on which forum?!!!!!!!!!

In fact it is easy to see that it was deleted. Not I suspect for being on the "wrong" forum.

Floisme · 05/07/2023 21:47

The thread was still on 'News' when I looked but I'm happy to be corrected if I've got it wrong.

The thread still existed in news when i followed the link earlier today

Floisme · 05/07/2023 21:56

It's still up now - that link still works

I mean I was expecting you to say ' someone disparaged the race of x and nobody challenged it so I did' or something. Or someone said y people were z...and I reported it and it's still up...or whatever.

But you saw IT when you read IT before and did nothing. Ok.

I do agree with some of Retired's other points, e.g.
And please remember that the splitting of what was FWR was a reactionary move by mumsnet in response to complaints that talking about trans issues was alienating so please do not on any account collude with that ahistorical anti feminist notion.

I think that's a good point.

Likewise about not responding if we suspect a thread might be in bad faith. I'd rather see those threads left to stand than risk having genuine posts moved - that just feels completely wrong.

But if I see a specific thread has been used as an example of racism when that thread does not appear to have originated from this board then yeah, I'm going to notice that and point it out, even if it does risk attracting multiple exclamation marks - I'll live.

I guess another possibility is that there was an Annecy thread started both in 'News' and on this board and that one of them was deleted?
