I've heard quite a few of the non-binaries say they are "neither sex"....they don't seem to understand they can identify as "non-binary", but it doesn't mean they then magically become neither sex!

Or indeed the opposite sex…

Heliotroper · 03/06/2023 10:59

SabrinaThwaite · 03/06/2023 10:48

Then I thought for one second, it’s my right. I do not identify myself as a man, I have a right to be there. I went back and explained clearly, I am non-binary, I am not a man.

But if you’re non-binary, you’re not a woman either?

What a quandary eh.

If only there was a solution available to people that are clearly if the male sex.

Well whatever you are, you sure ain't an expert in English law.

If they want to make that space single sex and it is clear there is a legitimate purpose then they do not have to give a hoot about your gender identity or any other characteristics that your absurd inflated has just invented.

Heliotroper · 03/06/2023 11:00

It is fantastic this is happening on Oxford!

Welcome to Terf Island!

A great welcome. And in Oxford too.

CreateaUsername27 · 03/06/2023 11:09

Giorgio, who studies in the US and is in Oxford visiting a friend, said: “I was wearing men’s clothing but I had two gowns on my shoulder, it was obvious what I wanted to try on.

^^
Ahh he studies in the US and they obviously think they can bring more aggressive totalitarian trans activism over here to the Brits who are resisting this stuff.

Did you misread me?

Of course he should be in the men’s changing room - what with him being a male.

Boiledbeetle · 03/06/2023 11:41

CountZacular · 03/06/2023 10:17

"I walked in and stood outside Giorgio's curtain to make sure he was OK and so that the dressing assistant wouldn’t bother him."

So even the ally of this story was well aware this bearded man was a he/him. If she was confused, how was the shop assistant supposed to know?

Self entitled man thinks its like an actual magic changing room (he's way too young to have watched MR Ben) where you go in as a man with a beard wearing trousers and emerge as a woman with a beard wearing a dress.

Now if its OK to enter as man and emerge as woman in the women's changing room why isn't equally OK to enter the men's changing room as a man and emerge as a woman?

Or is it more to do with the fact he's been led to believe his idiotic thoughts on what non binary and being a woman and a man is override the rights of women in this country to get changed without being in the presence of a man. A man who is incapable of taking anyone but himself into consideration.

and even his friends mother patently saw and knew that the lad is a man from what she said. she no more believes he's a woman than I do, but is for some reason helping that man co-oerce others into playing along with his charade.

Catchasingmewithspiders · 03/06/2023 11:47

I wonder if he thinks he can choose the changing room depending on the sex of the clothing he is trying on. Dresses in the woman's, trousers in the mens?

In which case he should be ashamed of himself for assuming the gender identity of the gowns. Maybe they are really transgowns and would feel more comfortable in the men's changing rooms.

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 03/06/2023 11:47

I wouldn’t like to buy the ‘gown’ he had tried on, because he would have struggled to get into it and probably pulled it out of shape.

Nyna · 03/06/2023 11:52

My God… what a world we live in. I for one have used gender neutral spaces to change on clothes, and maybe that’s the way forward. But the attitude! Was that all necessary? Why do you want to risk making women uncomfortable if you can change in a male space?!

Tallisker · 03/06/2023 11:57

I'd've called security if he'd tried that aggression on me. Poor shop assistant. And poor other women in the changing room. All affected by one entitled male.

Twat.

PriOn1 · 03/06/2023 12:29

And this is why we have to fight all the way against legal changes that solidify these attitudes into law. Tell men that they have a right to be in women’s spaces and some of them will shove their way in, because they can’t hear the word no, when a woman says it.

Ten years ago, the manager would have sided with the staff member and called the police. Now the invading man knows there will be no consequences.

And yes, he’s doing it without the legal changes being in place, but these attitudes can be reversed, given the political will. The suggestion that changing the law will make no difference because it’s already happening ignores the psychological aspect, which is entirely about male entitlement.

CuriouslyDifferent · 03/06/2023 12:38

the women in my family have Zara to my family’s no spend list.

It’s the only language that these companies understand.

ScrollingLeaves · 03/06/2023 12:40

Zara has gone up not down in my estimation.

Ideally it would be good if they could think of a way for him to try on the clothes in a separate place, or have him wait for a convenient time when no women are waiting to try on clothes to go alone into the ladies’ if that’s all they have.

Hannahsbananas · 03/06/2023 12:44

or have him wait for a convenient time when no women are waiting to try on clothes to go alone into the ladies’ if that’s all they have.
Why? Why must a man wearing male clothing (wonder where he tried that on? I’ll bet it wasn’t the ladies) be danced around like this because he fancied trying on some “gowns”?

Rightsraptor · 03/06/2023 12:50

I can't understand at all why 'non binary' always defaults to the female. It could just as easily default to male, but that's not going to happen. We know why.

It seems these people think the 'male' & 'female' refer to the type of clothes they're trying on: he says something about the gowns over his arm, as if that proves his point.

Welcome to Terf Island indeed!

Zara will be getting a tonne of messages from MRAs. Maybe tell the company what you think about female changing rooms?

Lottapianos · 03/06/2023 13:04

'Well by your own logic, you’re not a woman either, you utter womble.
Jesus 🙄'

Indeed

Jesus, what an eejit. The poor shop staff do not get paid nearly enough to have to deal with this sort of shite

dapsnotplimsolls · 03/06/2023 13:08

The shop assistant did some eye-rolling - silver medal at least, right there.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 03/06/2023 13:09

Giorgio may be NB but their level of male entitlement certainly isn’t

Zara sell men's clothes. Don't they have a men's changing room that he could have used?

Charliebrow · 03/06/2023 13:11

I think non binary always defaults to female because if there isn’t a third ‘gender neutral’ space then they think the women should roll over and allow their spaces to be ‘gender neutral’ so we have “male” and “gender neutral”. Erasing women
