Whether or not I disagree with Singal on some issues he does see the bigger picture here: that allowing activists to censor speech, particularly through illegal means, and the emergence of activist-journalists are both terrible ideas.

I hope Jesse does expand that tweet thread into an article.

Jesse sometimes annoys me (arse splinters!) but he and Katie do seem to care about following a story wherever it actually goes, rather than setting their own narrative.

Proper journalism has been taken over by opinion writers* so I appreciate that Jesse tries to hold a journalist’s position, must be really hard in the current climate.

Also, I’ve really come enjoy Blocked & Reported lately.

*I wonder if this is an unintended effect of the way we consume websites/apps? Just a few short years ago the opinion writers were obvious due to their position in the printed paper/magazine supplement and the difference in layout (eg with a writer portrait in the header)

I really enjoyed Josh's interview with Benjamin Boyce. I usually find Boyce's delivery painful to listen to so I don't check out his interviews much these days. But he let Josh do most of the talking, which was great. Josh did his best to explain some very techie information in an understandable way for the normies and I found it fascinating.

He's incredibly tenacious and optimistic, but he's giving very clear warnings of the death of the internet if some of the current practices are not curtailed.

Epik boots Kiwi Farms, vows to boot “absolutist free speech websites

"Epik, long known for harboring controversial domain names and websites, was acquired in June of 2023 after running into financial difficulties. The new owner is unknown.

Kiwi Farm’s founder has threatened to sue Epik as a result of the suspension."
