You're right, this Tigger must weigh, what, 20 stone plus, on the strength of that and (apparently) some experience playing decades ago there are many very low level men's teams who'd very happily offer a place as a front row forward, the position that's always hardest to fill.

I read the Rod Fleming article linked upthread, I know nothing about the author, if he's respected (or not) in this field, I'm not qualified to judge myself but this bit is almost eerie (sorry if MN's formatting makes it huge)

I don't think Rod Fleming is respected at all - IIRC he's a GAMP who is interested in all this because of his fetish for having sex with Asian "ladyboys." And I don't think all those photos of very young boys in sexualised poses which accompany the article were chosen for educational purposes. 😖Fairly sure he is also wildly misogynistic.

But that article is fascinating and I'm inclined to believe his insights. I've often thought there seems to be something like a host-parasite relationship between AGP men and their female persona.

@DarkDayforMN I think I was getting that impression from my brief dabble in his work, hence the disclaimers. Ick! But it was fascinating. The mention of 'cross-dreamers', men who have the urge but don't indulge it, or wouldn't have except for the current climate.

I have some knowledge of this person and the situation.

Curtiss trained with Hove Women's RFC from 2012-22. Hove Men's RFC have three men's teams, and a Vets team. The Sea Serpents (a specific LGBT team) also train at Hove Rec where Hove RFC are based.

Curtiss has plenty of playing options with other biological men. The only option closed to him now is playing with Hove Women's II. This team has a lot of experienced players, but is also the funnel from the U18's team, so has a lot of players aged around 18/19 every year. The majority of these players are fit and athletic and about half the mass of Curtiss.

Changing facilities at Hove RFC are limited, and many women chose not to use the facilities. However, Curtiss is a heterosexual male, who has implied in his blog that it would not be safe for trans women to use male facilities, so we can guess that he would choose to go in with the women rather than men.

His desire to be part of Hove Women's II is just about validation and gratification. Nothing else.

It is great to see the Crowdfunder being subverted. Bring on the challenge!

I also want to add - the (female) coach of the team is hugely supportive of Curtiss. Totally 'Be Kind' and a big LGBT ally. Many of the team are lesbian, many are young. Quite a few attend Brighton or Sussex Unis. They have been totally captured. They talk of Curtiss's hard life and his struggles, and how they aren't afraid of him and just feel sorry that he is discriminated against. It is sad to hear this capitulation.

Apparently, his rugby is crap though - they are not worried that he will catch them in a tackle. Obviously this 'case by case' basis that Curtiss wants suits this agenda. We, on the other hand, see the bigger picture (s).

Horrific, but very sad too.
