Debate relating to the definition of “sex” in the Equality Act 2010 will be in Westminster Hall on 12 June 2023 4:30pm

Just posting this as on a thread elsewhere I made some disparaging remarks that the debate will be shuffled off to some small committee room.

But they must think that more than a few MPs are wanting to take part as I have just seen it will be in Westminster Hall.

Will be interesting to see which MPs are willing to state views about the reality of biological sex in public!

Event will be broadcast live.

Oh I found KB's bit.

She (accidentally??) said she assumed her genitals are XY.

Duffield and Cherry have furrowed brows at most of her statements as they're bonkers.

Then they started laughing at the shite she was spouting while she was dressed in someone s nightie.

KCandtheSunlightBand · 12/06/2023 20:39

I think the actual figure for DSD is more likely to be around 0.018%. Fausto included body disorders rather than chromosomal disorders. My basic biology knowledge apparent by being totally unable to dredge up the correct language, so hope you get the meaning.
(At least I know XX and XY unlike one of our MPs)

Backstreets · 12/06/2023 20:39

Beautiful sunlight indeed. Mostly on how thick some elected officials really are.

JanesLittleGirl · 12/06/2023 20:39

At least I've learned why Kirsty Blackwood abandoned her medical studies.

WarriorN · 12/06/2023 20:40

Friend, total binary bollox.

SHE ASSUMES SHE HAS XY chromosomes

Non binary is valid is the most BS non scientific statement ever.

FriendofJoanne · 12/06/2023 20:40

OMG KIRSTY! I thought I'd reached peak rage with the woman in purple earlier but no. It's about women's rights Kirsty, WOMEN, you know the cunty ones. The 51% of the population ones. FFS.

JanesLittleGirl · 12/06/2023 20:40

Sorry, Blackman.

Probably for the best, for the sake of anyone in Scotland who needs medical treatment

littlbrowndog · 12/06/2023 20:42

She’s not sure if she is a woman. She has kids. Where does she think they came from 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

How Blackman is not embarrassed by the rubbish she spouted during the debate, particularly pertaining to her lack of curiosity surrounding her own body, is beyond me.

🤯

I’m surprised at the all sides take. The conservatives were clearly more biology matters

Labour and SNP more on the side of gender ideology

The debate showed that pretty clearly

It's quite extraordinary really. Do you have to be conservative to have a basic understanding of biology (plus perhaps actually doing a bit of research)?
Are labour really so ignorant and poorly educated? Or do they keep repeating the mantras until they are incapable of independent thought?

Kirsty Blackman says she didn't say it

I need to catch up on the debate. I caught a few bits where there was lots of talking about showing kindness and love to trans people.

I hope the need to show kindness, love, and empathy towards women who need single sex spaces was mentioned at some point…

The left is pretty much overtaken by gender ideology

That’s why the debate went as it did

Be careful who you back (general you not specific)

The liberal ‘progressives’ have been caught out. Initially rushing in to jump on the #bekind bandwagon, opened the doors to those with specific agendas and now are too weak and cowardly to back out as the evidence mounts. More willing to throw women under the bus than admit their logic fail. It’s tricky because people go to crazy lengths to justify the most illogical thinking.

Backstreets · 12/06/2023 20:55

I remember some very eye-rolling reviews about Ian Hislop's documentary about the stiff upper lip and how he concluded he rather missed the age of emotional continence, but here we are ten or so years later trying to love and kind reality away in a bloody political debate...

WarriorN · 12/06/2023 20:57

KB was really proper telt by this woman who used KBs argument to point out that as there were live court cases individuals are being forced to sort out the law themselves.

Therefore, as Kirsty said, women are failed and trans people are failed. It's up to the gov to clarify it. Hence sex needs better definition.

I think the image of Joanna Cherry covering her eyes at the sheer ridiculousness of it all has narrowly beaten this image to my favourite WTF image of all time.

And as for claiming that as she doesn’t ovulate her sex isn’t clear - FFS SHE HAS CHILDREN.

I don't ovulate. Still didn't stop me suffering the pain of miscarriage and endometriosis, or of giving birth and breastfeeding.

She does not get to demote me from my womanhood and my motherhood. Especially when I've been though years of IVF and a very painful infertility journey to achieve it. What a thoroughly offensive view.

Mochudubh · 12/06/2023 21:02

@WarriorN

Thanks. I should have known. I remember several years ago when Kirsty and her brother (still a teen) were elected as local Cooncilors. Kirsty at the time seemed vaguely competent but she was only 21 or so and probably still impressionable.

I recall encountering her brother in the local library wandering around like a fart in a dwam and thinking he wasn't the sharpest knife in the drawer. He disappeared into obscurity but I now think maybe Kirsty wasn't the brains of the family either.

Joanna Cherry with her head in her hands listening to the loon who doesn’t know what sex she is, says it all.

Does this “I don’t know my sex” WOMAN called KIRSTY have children?

Tonia Antoniazzi being quite clear that DSDs are not a third sex and nothing to do with this.

I am so glad she made this point very clear.
