"Lesbians being anti-trans is a lesbophobic trope"

I think this helps give another viewpoint to the "gay people are anti-trans" trope that is often used by the LGB-Alliance and Julie Bindel etc.

Lesbians often have to put up with harmful stereotypes that may deter them from coming out, and in recent years the "lesbians are anti-trans" is another stereotype on top of the existing ones.

'Lesbians being anti-trans is a lesbophobic trope'

Amy Ashenden, Interim CEO of Just Like Us, is dispelling the harmful trope that lesbians are against the trans community.

https://www.lgbtqnation.com/2023/05/2-men-joined-lesbian-dating-app-to-shame-trans-women-but-they-just-ended-up-shaming-each-other/

Gender Critical "Trans hunter" cis-men who joined Her specifically to stalk transwomen have failed miserably. They ended up finding each other's profiles on the app (without realising it) thinking they had found a transwomen and published their findings on Twitter.

Their Twitter accounts have now either been deactivated or set to private, I presume they have found this embarrassing.

What is your point?

We already know the app welcomes born males who identify as lesbians. And these born males are using the app.

Although your links do highlight that it's very difficult to tell the difference between born males identifying as women and born males pretending to identify as women.

There is a reason for that of course...

NecessaryScene · 04/05/2023 06:23

That is quite funny.

But I assume by "failed" you mean they didn't find anyone else?

So are you saying there are no remaining transwomen/men on Her? The problem's solved?

Florissante · 04/05/2023 07:09

It's women's existence as a class that is up for update: we are supposed to centre men in feminism, include men in single sex spaces and change the meaning of the word "woman" to include men.

nilsmousehammer · 04/05/2023 07:53

I see it's the usual kind of 'conversation' where information is plopped.

Women point out the issues with the information.

The OP totally ignores all that, and just plops something different.

Whatever. Be as homophobic as floats your boat, I can cope with their being people in the world who aren't all about me and thinking exactly what I think without screaming for Mummy and the police. But the whole 'all the nice lesbians are doing it' and 'just go set up a nasty homosexual females who won't do men group if you won't get with the new programme' and the particularly pernicious and awful 'learn to cope (with unwanted sex, for the benefit of men, as some kind of bizarre and sociopathic social duty, because sex isn't for you to enjoy, it's a service you owe to the penis)' ..... yeah, have fun with that. Preferably a very long way from me. I'm not going to be 'educated' to the point of going 'wow that's a good idea, line up the men!' any more than I could educate the OP into managing to see females as actually human.

Florissante · 04/05/2023 09:17

Up for debate, not update.

QueenHippolyta · 04/05/2023 10:08

I read about those straight GC males finding each other amidst the other hairy transwomen (males )on HER and laughed as the place is a total sausage - fest.
I can tell you, without revealing details, that young lesbians are making their own quiet groups, finding each other and sharing female only spaces.

lifeturnsonadime · 04/05/2023 10:15

Why shouldn't GC men point out the idiocy that is men claiming to be lesbians?

It's no different to the power lifting coaches entering as women to point out the idiocy of men competing in women's sports. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11918455/Male-powerlifter-protests-Canadas-self-ID-rules-entering-female-contest-smashing-record.html

The whole thing is a farce. Men cannot be lesbians. Men cannot be women. Males who use gender identity to enter female sports are cheats. Males who use gender identity to attempt to coerce lesbians are [insert choice of word as I don't want a ban].

The whole house of cards needs to come tumbling down and quickly. And it would if women were treated as fully human.

Male powerlifter beats women's record to protest self ID rules

A male coach claimed to be a woman in a powerlifting competition and smashed the female bench press record in protest of gender self-identification policies in sport.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11918455/Male-powerlifter-protests-Canadas-self-ID-rules-entering-female-contest-smashing-record.html

nilsmousehammer · 04/05/2023 10:16

It's amazing isn't it?

These inclusive women's spaces are a wonderful victory of right side of history and progress (except for the vulnerable women we've excluded from their previously accessible space and left without anything at all)

and

The wonderful, new and so very much better lesbianism with penis which is a total success! (Except for the homosexual women we've driven under ground and out of sight who are having to lesbian secretly)

Oh this brave new world advancing strongly to the rear.

WolfFoxHare · 04/05/2023 11:40

MargotBamborough · 03/05/2023 19:28

I'm getting a bit sick of hearing that trans people's existence isn't up for debate (as if their existence was what we were debating), and also that women must give up their right to exist in law and language (i.e. as a category of biologically female people) without a debate.

It's all a bit "heads I win, tails you lose", isn't it?

Why don't we get to say, "The word woman is taken, it means biologically female people, and women's spaces and sports are for women only, so get your own word and your own spaces and sports because our existence is not up for debate."

Spot on. How about us saying "Woman exist and have rights too! #NoDebate." Oh, and if TRAs say this means they're being "silenced", we can respond "You're not being silenced by your speaking events being illegally cancelled, and your journalists and academics being bullied out of their jobs, and your peaceful meetings being disrupted by men wearing masks and waving signs calling for your rape and beheading, and your tweets being maliciously reported, and your charities being vexatiously sued, and your spaces beings invaded by criminals, and your leaders being violently attacked, because look, you're able to complain about it! How can you be silenced if you're able to cry out against our assaults?!" That's how it works, right, @MerlinsLostMarbles?

@nilsmousehammer - the last sentence of your post struck straight to the heart of the issue. The TRAs pushing this agenda do not think women are human - we are some sort of sub species (even within womanhood, we are reduced to a subset of women by being called cis). They, and their handmaidens to not give one tiny, shiny shite about the damage they are doing to women, and the way they are destroying the work of feminists over so many years.

I can't put into words how angry and frustrated this makes me.

The point being there is an irony here. Gender Critical cis-men unhappy about transwoman being on the app (despite being permitted to be on there both by law and by the app, as mentioned) so they sign up themselves?

And yes the links highlight they are very bad at actually finding transwomen since all they can find are each other. I guess you "can't always tell" after all.

I'm not sure what the Gender Critical aim or point is here? The transwomen using the app aren't doing anything wrong so the gender critical cis men are just signing up to troll and stalk?

And since they intended to post any transwomen they found on their twitter for others to harass could this potentially be a crime? Malicious communication maybe or stalking and harassment with a hate aggravator? They should be hauled up in court for this.

And just yesterday a photo was circulating Twitter and on here(now deleted thread) of a transwoman queueing to use the toilets with other women, presumably taken and posted online without consent.

Any lawyers here per chance? I would be interested in what the British law says about "trans hunting" ie people going out of their way to stalk transpeople who are doing nothing wrong then posting them online inviting others to harass and abuse them.

Well that's your opinion. My opinion is that heterosexual males have no place on a lesbian dating app, no matter how the identify.

How can one tell the difference between a TW who is claiming to be a lesbian and any other male who is claiming to be a lesbian, other than potentially make up and clothes? That's the entire point isn't it. It is making a mockery of lesbians. Lesbian erasure. The only people who are lesbians are single sex attracted females.

Anyone who thinks that this is OK is a homophobe and is anti women.

So lets get this straight you are upset that some males are mocking other males for using lesbian dating apps but not for the lesbians who've lost their space in the first place? Sounds about right.

MerlinsLostMarbles · 04/05/2023 13:42

"Well that's your opinion. My opinion is that heterosexual males have no place on a lesbian dating app, no matter how the identify."

Are you or anyone else being forced against your will to use Her?

These males just ended up mocking each other in a self-own. How embarrassing for them.

Well what happens when there are no 'hers' on her?

Certainly no lesbians. The only people using it males and bisexual/ heterosexual women who want to date men with kinks?

What happens next? The males go to the next lesbian dating app, because cotton ceiling. Can't have those pesky female lesbians wanting anything to themselves can they?

If only words had meanings eh.

But literally who cares? The app has already been infiltrated with heterosexual males. If they want to mock each other I dgaf.

But no, you don't give a shit about women do you? Only the males.

Well, Her has been going strong for a decade now and has always welcomed transwomen.

So it's not a lesbian dating site. It's a site for bisexuals and heterosexuals with kinks.

Have you seen Her's Twitter page? They're aware what the Gender Critical viewpoint of them is and I don't think they are too concerned.

lifeturnsonadime · 04/05/2023 13:51

Well that's good for them.

I don't know what you want me to say.

But it is NOT a lesbian dating site. You are kidding yourself if you think that it is.

Beowulfa · 04/05/2023 13:54

Why can't there be lesbian dating apps (for women seeking women) and "lesbian plus" apps, for want of a better word, for lesbians who don't mind heterosexual males in their dating pool? As long as it's clear who's included, why can't these two services co-exist?

Oh, I know, because women can't have anything just for themselves, can they?
