Starmer insults women’s intelligence to blame Sunak for judicial failures when it was Starmer’s CPS that failed to prosecute rapists

I am so fed up with politicians and their seedy bully boy tactics.

So Starmer having failed to get personal approval from voters who rate Sunak higher than him, doesn't think maybe I should try harder to be more relevant to voters.

No he decides to roll in the gutter and use personal attacks. https://www.jackfm.co.uk/news/politics/labour-takes-inspiration-from-australia-with-sunak-attack-ads-but-they-need-more-to-pull-off-a-proper-ousting/

I'm not saying the Tories are blameless, but lets face it, it was/is the CPS who continued/s to fail to prosecute rapists even when the police present evidence, because the CPS only want to take on sure fire winning court cases to up their stats.

So not only has Labour tried to make out Sunak (who became as MP the same year as Starmer) personally doesn't want child abusers to go to prison, but now has plagerised women campaign's slogan about how rape has been decriminalised. https://rapecrisis.org.uk/get-informed/the-decriminalisation-of-rape/

And yet Labour still doesn't know what a woman is, nor have they re-admitted women expelled from Labour for saying women are biological females. But think our tiny emotional brains will be overwhelmed by their crass statements about women's issues.

Labour seem to think that because this sort of politcal sloganeering used by the vote leave party were sucessful during the Brexit campaign, that this is how they will win the next election.

Which is worse? That our politicians think voters are such dimwits. Or that they might be right. https://labourlist.org/2023/04/labour-attack-ad-rishi-sunak-crime-twitter-controversial-advert/

Thank you very much, and for the many informative links you often share.

They really have no clue any more. Totally and utterly not understanding what mere mortals/peasants want.

UtopiaPlanitia and ScrollingLeaves, this was this morning's Politico:

"DON’T STOP THE PRESSES: Last night’s Parliamentary Labour Party meeting lasted just 24 minutes as frustration at the party’s attack ads failed to break into the open, my Playbook colleague Dan Bloom emails to say. Barry Gardiner, who had branded the attack ads “cheap slogans,” didn’t turn up to the gathering of a few dozen almost entirely Starmer loyalists. Left-winger Richard Burgon attended but not a single MP asked a question.

Doubling down: Streeting addressed the meeting and defended the attack ads, claiming: “Some in the media have said Labour shouldn’t politicize horrific criminal offences going unpunished. We didn’t. The Tories did when they cut 20,000 police officers.” He also condemned “cowardly anonymous sources” who briefed against Yvette Cooper for distancing herself from the adverts, said one person in the room.

Non speakers: One MP unafraid to condemn the attack ads is Jeremy Corbyn, who described them as “bad news all round.” The ex-leader also told LBC he had “never regarded” Starmer “as a friend.”"

Honestly, political parties these days are all like the Borg. Is debate, dissent or difference in opinion gone from public life entirely?! I hate tribal politics (we get a lot of it in NI) and I just hate the way that in recent years Cabinet Members, and MPs who want to get ahead, are ride or die for ‘their guy’ at any cost.

Lack of diverse thought/opinion is hampering lots of aspects of public life.

ResisterRex · 19/04/2023 06:56

No problem Scrolling and Utopia. This new direction of attack ads is genuinely interesting, I think. And I agree about the need for debate within the parties themselves.

I am not sure that any of the parties have a good story to tell. As people have become browned off with politics, they have stopped being active in their local parties, leaving those parties small and unrepresentative. Labour has problems with its left. The Tories have problems with their right. but have perhaps been lucky that they ended up with the candidate that party members did not choose. (Time will tell, and at least it is not Mordaunt.)

The SNP seems to be in an even bigger hole.

Yeah fair point, they've certainly both got their mavericks. Cameron couldn't control his Eurosceptic wing and we all know how that ended. But I think there's a difference.

The Labour party mavericks, from my own experience as a member, weren't really that bothered about winning elections. They worked very hard - can't fault them on that - but their goals were slightly different. They had no illusions that Corbyn would ever win a general election but they would point to a surge in membership numbers and for them, it seemed to be about 'getting their party back' and establishing a stronger base at grassroots level. I think they saw it as a step on the march towards their Utopia. I don't mean that sarcastically, I liked some of them a lot, they were good people but totally committed to their own cause - that's what I mean by ungovernable. Oh and they absolutely hated it when Labour was actually in power.

I've no experience of the Conservative party but, for all their differences they seem, at least from where I'm sitting, to have much more or a winning mentality. Even their mavericks want to win elections and expect to win elections and they'll pull together to make that happen in a way that I can't imagine Labour ever doing.
