Starmer insults women’s intelligence to blame Sunak for judicial failures when it was Starmer’s CPS that failed to prosecute rapists

I am so fed up with politicians and their seedy bully boy tactics.

So Starmer having failed to get personal approval from voters who rate Sunak higher than him, doesn't think maybe I should try harder to be more relevant to voters.

No he decides to roll in the gutter and use personal attacks. https://www.jackfm.co.uk/news/politics/labour-takes-inspiration-from-australia-with-sunak-attack-ads-but-they-need-more-to-pull-off-a-proper-ousting/

I'm not saying the Tories are blameless, but lets face it, it was/is the CPS who continued/s to fail to prosecute rapists even when the police present evidence, because the CPS only want to take on sure fire winning court cases to up their stats.

So not only has Labour tried to make out Sunak (who became as MP the same year as Starmer) personally doesn't want child abusers to go to prison, but now has plagerised women campaign's slogan about how rape has been decriminalised. https://rapecrisis.org.uk/get-informed/the-decriminalisation-of-rape/

And yet Labour still doesn't know what a woman is, nor have they re-admitted women expelled from Labour for saying women are biological females. But think our tiny emotional brains will be overwhelmed by their crass statements about women's issues.

Labour seem to think that because this sort of politcal sloganeering used by the vote leave party were sucessful during the Brexit campaign, that this is how they will win the next election.

Which is worse? That our politicians think voters are such dimwits. Or that they might be right. https://labourlist.org/2023/04/labour-attack-ad-rishi-sunak-crime-twitter-controversial-advert/

Ok thanks, well that's the risk of saying something stupid on a public forum.

I still don't understand time zones.

Datun · 17/04/2023 10:00

I think this is right. Every 15 degrees left or right you go (east or west), it's plus or minus one hour (with a few minor variations for convenience).

Which is why I was so shocked, once, that South Africa, despite being a long way away, is only two hours ahead.

I still dont understand time zones either and having just looked it up, if they were straight lines then half of Ireland would have a different time zone.

As it happens the time zone goes around Iceland, Ireland, Portugal and more.
So shrug, we are not all that clued up on time zones. Hardly the crime of the century.

Yeh I’m not sure why pp was so moved to start another thread on it

Some countries have multiple time zones others don’t

Floisme · 17/04/2023 10:13

Thank you Smile. I think it's BST/DST that really messes with my head, always has done. Measuring time is one thing but trying to meddle with it feels like Tower of Babel levels of arrogance.

Floisme · 17/04/2023 10:19

Anyway @TooBigForMyBoots my friend, are you going to come back to this thread and talk to me?

DemiColon · 17/04/2023 10:22

Some countries that cross the edge of time zones decide to pick one for the whole country. Which makes sense with a country like Ireland that isn't very big, it would be a major pain in the ass to have just the west coast be an hour behind the rest of the country.

In a big country you don't really have the luxury of doing that, if Canada had all one timezone, you'd have Vancouver being at noon at the time when the sun was highest in Vancouver, but in Newfoundland it would be noon when the sun was setting, at least in winter.

Putting back the clocks back though.... it made such an impression on me when I was a kid because it wasn't like now where it happens automatically, you had to physically change them. I used to watch my dad and think where does that hour go?Confused

What did you think when you gained an hour? That's got to be weirder!

Datun · 17/04/2023 10:31

Actually, now I'm getting confused. Putting them back, that's when you do gain the hour. It's putting them forward, when you lose it.

ScrollingLeaves · 17/04/2023 10:35

When you think about it, where do those hours go?

Also, why is France/Majorca etc an hour ahead when they seem to be in the same zone.

Floisme · 17/04/2023 10:42

You're right Datun, that was the wrong way round - see I'm still confused. Putting back the clock was a 'Where does that hour come from?' moment. Putting it forward was, 'Where does that hour go'?
My dad tried to tell me it was just like borrowing money and then paying it back....

EmotionalSupportHyena · 17/04/2023 10:51

Time zones are confusing!

I have a peculiar relationship with time anyway, so chuck daylight saving in as well and I have no idea what’s what.

starting a thread about someone else’s confusion over time zones is a weird, dickish thing to do.

ginghamstarfish · 17/04/2023 10:54

It would be amusing if it wasn't so embarrassing for KS. Doesn't he have anyone to advise him and stop him before he does these things (like the 99.9% of women not having a penis)?

It does seem a bit odd, especially when I was on this thread yesterday if Boots had wanted to talk about it / laugh at me some more. But I'm sure she'll come back and tell us why.

Needmoresleep · 17/04/2023 11:06

I wonder if Keir/the Labour Party understand time zones.

Perhaps, like biology, they think time is flexible. A new election pledge? A 25 hour day. 😀

I might be on time with an extra hour to fanny about with!

(or a whole extra hour late?)

Floisme · 17/04/2023 11:17

It would have to be certain days of the week only though. People who work Mon-Fri might vote for a 25 hour Saturday but I doubt they would for a Monday.

ScrollingLeaves · 17/04/2023 12:24

They might explain that days are 24 hrs long 99.9% of the time.

Floisme · 17/04/2023 12:34

I won't tag you again Boots but I'd still like to talk to you and I don't think that's unreasonable.
Are you OK?
Are you going to come back?

TooBigForMyBoots · 17/04/2023 14:41

Feel free to PM me @Floisme. I am glad you haven't received any negativity, I did think it was a dick move for the people not on this thread to screen shot your messages and post them elsewhere.

Floisme · 17/04/2023 14:45

Oh hi @TooBigForMyBoots, thanks for responding. No need for a pm, let's do this out in the open.

Please will you explain: 1) what you did and 2) why?

ScrollingLeaves · 17/04/2023 15:06

I was interested to look on TooBigForMyBoot’s
other thread they started in AIBU and saw a very interesting answer from one poster showing how reasonable any one might be for not necessarily knowing about whether the Time Zones in NI and Ireland are the same or different from that in the UK.

Apparently the whole of Ireland used to be in a different time zone to Britain. This was for roughly 40 years. Then GMT was standardised in 1916 in Dublin. This was known as Dublin Time and was used throughout the island of Ireland.

Apparently France uses several time zones, whereas many other countries of the same breadth ( meaning the time related to noon Sun will vary) keep to one.

So, there was nothing so shocking, nothing unreasonable, about Floisme not knowing.

Floisme · 17/04/2023 15:13

Thank you ScrollingLeaves, like I've said, it's quite absurd to get to my age without understanding time zones, and I've no issue with people laughing at me for it.

Are you going to answer my questions, Boots?
