Starmer insults women’s intelligence to blame Sunak for judicial failures when it was Starmer’s CPS that failed to prosecute rapists

IwantToRetire · 11/04/2023 00:25

I am so fed up with politicians and their seedy bully boy tactics.

So Starmer having failed to get personal approval from voters who rate Sunak higher than him, doesn't think maybe I should try harder to be more relevant to voters.

No he decides to roll in the gutter and use personal attacks. https://www.jackfm.co.uk/news/politics/labour-takes-inspiration-from-australia-with-sunak-attack-ads-but-they-need-more-to-pull-off-a-proper-ousting/

I'm not saying the Tories are blameless, but lets face it, it was/is the CPS who continued/s to fail to prosecute rapists even when the police present evidence, because the CPS only want to take on sure fire winning court cases to up their stats.

So not only has Labour tried to make out Sunak (who became as MP the same year as Starmer) personally doesn't want child abusers to go to prison, but now has plagerised women campaign's slogan about how rape has been decriminalised. https://rapecrisis.org.uk/get-informed/the-decriminalisation-of-rape/

And yet Labour still doesn't know what a woman is, nor have they re-admitted women expelled from Labour for saying women are biological females. But think our tiny emotional brains will be overwhelmed by their crass statements about women's issues.

Labour seem to think that because this sort of politcal sloganeering used by the vote leave party were sucessful during the Brexit campaign, that this is how they will win the next election.

Which is worse? That our politicians think voters are such dimwits. Or that they might be right. https://labourlist.org/2023/04/labour-attack-ad-rishi-sunak-crime-twitter-controversial-advert/

France has a lot of time zones because French possessions in the Caribbean, the mouth of the St. Lawrence, the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean are all part of France. Mainland France has one time zone - UK +1.

Spain should be in the same time zone as UK or even UK -1 but was moved to CET in the 1930s by Franco in solidarity with Nazi Germany.

How fascinating, thank you.

Floisme · 17/04/2023 15:39

That is fascinating JanesLittleGirl.

I'm sure Boots' answer will be fascinating too.

EmotionalSupportHyena · 17/04/2023 15:49

That really is interesting @JanesLittleGirl!

Makes me feel better about not really ‘getting’ time zones - won’t make me
any more punctual though 😬

Oh hi @TooBigForMyBoots, thanks for responding. No need for a pm, let's do this out in the open.

Please will you explain: 1) what you did and 2) why?

Do what in the open? I asked you the questions I wanted to ask you on this thread. Yours was not the only post on the topic I read that night. So I started a thread about it so as not to derail the threads here.

Im sorry that people screenshotted your posts and a bit shocked that none of them told you they were doing it.

I'm starting to understand other FWR posters mention of monitors now. I seem to have some tetchy Tory monitors of my own.

UtopiaPlanitia · 17/04/2023 16:16

@Floisme I’m from N Ireland and I’m not very surprised when US or GB people don’t know things about NI - our history/political situation doesn’t get taught well in those places, or in ROI either (weirdly).

It’s a pity that people are confused about us but it’s something I’ve got used to i.e. explaining N Ireland to people. It can be a bit frustrating at times, but the political & legal situations here are complex and they differ from GB and ROI, for obvious reasons of history, and people are often astonished to learn about those differences.

Having said that, I’ve also had GB and US people state confidently that the Republic of Ireland is part of the UK (so it’s not just N Irish history/geography that confuses people) 🤷‍♀️ 🤪

As for Labour, I can’t vote for them, as they refuse to run candidates in NI, but we do have Conservative candidates in a lot of our elections (not that they get many votes in comparison to local parties). Having said that, Westminster legislation and politics affects us over here in myriad ways and I am very keen to support GB women’s endeavour to get Sunak and Starmer to take women’s rights (and biology) seriously because it will not only help women in GB, it will ultimately help us too. Solidarity ✊

It's hilarious that you're trying to blame the Tories for you starting a bitchy thread, although I suppose it's completely on-brand for you. Makes me doubt anything else you post though, so...

Thank you for replying @TooBigForMyBoots, good to hear from you,

Yes I would like to have this conversation with you in public, as was your thread.

I'm sorry to hear you're shocked at the behaviour of anonymous posters on an online forum. One can never be too careful.

So just to clarify your responses to my first question:

  1. You started a new thread to talk about something I had said, even though the thread concerned was still open and I was still posting on it yesterday?
  2. You did not start the thread on FWR but on a different board?
  3. You didn't let me know at the time that you were starting the thread?
  4. You didn't screenshot my posts yourself but you're shocked that some other posters did?
  5. You apologise for the behaviour of these other posters?

Is that all correct?

What is, in your opinion, the best option for women out of the NI political parties? I did try and look it up but the history of the various parties was so unfamiliar to me that I puzzled over it for a while and gave up before I even got to current day issues 😬

Is there a clear (er) best option for women in NI or is it like E&W (and Scotland!) where individual candidate positions vary wildly within each party?

Eg I would happily vote for Rosie Duffield (Labour) Miriam Cates (Conservative) and Ash Reagan (SNP) if I lived in any of their constituencies but my own Labour MP (who I personally know quite well) has splinters in his arse from all the fence sitting (but in his previous position on the council did manage to prevent any of the super pro trans rights motions that were doing the rounds a few years ago from being tabled).

TooBigForMyBoots · 17/04/2023 17:30

The parties with the best record for opposing TWAW are DUP, TUV and Aontu EmotionalSupport. We are a more conservative society with a more religious population so while some politicians have mentioned it, it's not that widely discussed.

Also, Stormount is closed so no legistlation being debated at all.

OnMyWayToSenility · 17/04/2023 17:32

What a load of propaganda shit!

Floisme · 17/04/2023 17:49

Polite reminder to Boots as I see you've just posted.

Are the points I summarised correct?

I can't see any reply to my second question: Why? As in why did you do it?

In your own time of course.

FOJN · 17/04/2023 18:13

Floisme · 17/04/2023 15:13

Thank you ScrollingLeaves, like I've said, it's quite absurd to get to my age without understanding time zones, and I've no issue with people laughing at me for it.

Are you going to answer my questions, Boots?

Starting a whole thread to mock someone over something as inconsequential as times zones is weapons grade arseholery.

TooBigForMyBoots · 17/04/2023 18:16

You were not the only or even first poster to express such confusion. So I started a thread on the wider board. I have reported the post that screenshotted your name explaining that you knew nothing about it.

Apologies for any embarrassment you have suffered at the hands of those who piled on my thread.

There is no need to report other posters and, in any case, it sounds like it's a bit late in the day for that.

Nor do you need to apologise for the actions of other people. We are all responsible for our own behaviour don't you think?

I hope you don't mind my asking so many questions but you still haven't explained what you were hoping to get out of it. Please wouild you do so?

Also would it not have made sense, and been courteous, to let me know you were starting the thread? I might have contributed or joined in the hilarity.

I'm afraid I can't help Ourladycheesusedatum - I've not seen the thread as Boots didn't let me know she was starting it.

To be fair, I'm not really interested in seeing it now. Anyone who wants to talk to me about it can come and find me here.

On page 9-10 (I'm on 25 posts per page - don't ask) TooSpitefulForMyBoots gets her arse handed to her.

This seems an odd statement TooBigForMyBoots
I had a look at that other thread and a lot of it is about people replying apropos of general historical and political points about Ireland and Northern Ireland;

but many were objecting to your OP calling it a TAAT, saying you posted it to belittle another poster.

And the only screenshot I found was to prove this point, and to show you had misinterpreted that poster anyway (about N. Ireland not being part of the U.K). They were DEFENDING her against your OP in other words.

So it seems disingenuous to suggest the person in question might be offended by that screenshot, rather than be offended by your having started a thread to say how silly/stupid some people [she] must be.

Why not just say you made a mistake and are sorry? We can all be rash sometimes.

By the way, about time zones, someone on that thread pointed out that you can stand in Michigan, take one step into Illinois and change time zones. So why mightn’t Ireland and N Ireland be in a different time zone across the sea?

Floisme · 17/04/2023 18:52

And @UtopiaPlanitia thanks for your post. I'll have to come back to it and digest it later but it looks interesting and helpful

JanesLittleGirl · 17/04/2023 19:22

@Floisme Time is completely untrustworthy. It moves around, speeds up or slows down depending on what you're doing, you can't see it or weigh it but you can measure it.

At the beginning of the 19th century every city in the UK kept different time because noon varies with how far east or west you are and, to a lesser extent, how far north or south (another example of time's untrustworthiness). This didn't matter when it took 2 days to travel from London to Birmingham but it caused chaos once the railway arrived. The government decided that there would only be one time in the UK and it would be Greenwich Mean Time (GMT now known as UTC).

I'll stop now because you're probably losing the will to live but time is very odd.
