That Shelagh Fogarty interview with Helen Belcher just now was WONDERFUL. Absolutely no fawning, robust challenges, calling out the bullshit as 'not a fact', repeatedly returning to 'reality'. Proper bloody interviewing

Yes!

Belcher is deluded about the realities of biological sex.

RealityFan · 05/04/2023 14:33

I wonder if it's dawned yet on JOB that he's the warm-up act for Shelagh? If not, someone should inform the chump.

Proper journalism! I am cheering up now. 😀

'Inwonder if it's dawned yet on JOB that he's the warm-up act for Shelagh? If not, someone should inform the chump.'

😂😂😂

Bet that would go down like a bucket of sick!

chilling19 · 05/04/2023 14:57

Perhaps someone should suggest JOB listens to Shelagh's show?

Mollyollydolly · 05/04/2023 15:01

I know Shelagh slightly from years ago, used to work with one of her brothers. She's everything James Mobbs isn't. Hard working working class family of nine (I think), all done well in life, well informed, genuinely compassionate and got a brain in her head. We need more Shelagh's in this world and less James Mobbs.

cupofteaandnetflix · 05/04/2023 15:04

Who the heck is JOB please? Missed the interview…

highfidelity · 05/04/2023 15:05

James O'Brien, as stated numerous times in the thread

twitterexile · 05/04/2023 15:06

James, listen to a woman? A WOMAN?!
Are you crazy?

twitterexile · 05/04/2023 15:08

He would have to phone in and mansplain it all to her.

Known in this household as Right Job.

Wisterical · 05/04/2023 15:34

Ha! Known in this household as Jobby.

RealityFan · 05/04/2023 15:49

Some targets just love to line themselves up, nice and easy.

cupofteaandnetflix · 05/04/2023 17:55

Thank you @twitterexile I sort of thought he might be GC but in that way where someone thinks anyone who’s not a (straight white ) man is beneath him. I could have him mixed up with someone else though and sorry if that doesn’t make much sense.

chilling19 · 05/04/2023 17:57

Reality - oops, my bad 😂

PopGoesTheProsecco · 05/04/2023 19:03

I usually agree with JO’B on everything. But on this topic I feel he’s way off. I don’t think he has read - or would even understand - the Jenni Russell article in The Times.

So his monologue was kind of balanced, in a way, but every caller put through seemed to be pro trans in female spaces.

As a survivor of CSA, spiking, attempted rape. My female only spaces are important to me. I feel safe there. I don’t think he understands the every day lived experience of women that Jenni describes in her article.

Do you think JO’B worries on a dark night when he hears foot steps behind him that he might be raped, worries that he could be raped after a few drinks or worries that his pint could be spiked so someone could rape him.

I feel I’m pro-trans, I have trans friends (M to F). But even they understand the need for female only spaces.

But he is a man!

flyingbuttress43 · 05/04/2023 19:12

Perhaps he was dropped on his head as a baby.

PopGoesTheProsecco · 05/04/2023 19:38

Or kicked in the head by a horse.

PopGoesTheProsecco · 05/04/2023 19:45

This is what resonated with me.

The contrast between the debate of this on JOB and Shelgh's shows highlighted the difference between night and day.

Having had a little more time to reflect on this, JOB clearly hasn't done any research or reading about this, nor does he understand the matter. Because of this, I feel strongly that he should stay out of this debate, more so given his producers were clearly cherry picking their callers to suit the idea that the majority of biological women are happy to have TW in their spaces.

Although his monologue was balanced, it was explained he wouldn't really be getting involved in this and would be willing to just agree with whatever people said if they could answer his question. Except no-one did other than to say it was unworkable. For me, this, his question that is, merely demonstrated that he did not understand the matter. And it is for this reason, for once, JOB would be best placed to shut up and stay silent - we don't your input on this. However, JOB, if you're reading this, maybe invite Sonia Sodha on to talk about this, or what about your friend Suzanne Moore or even Sharron Davies and hear their point of view about how this issue is about so much more than policing genitals.

The problem started the moment he opened his gob, and said he wasn't interested in discussing the science or philosophy.

Can you imagine him ever doing that on a Brexit or migration polemic/debate?

Imagine if a racist Leaver or anti migration Little Englander came on air, and said he couldn't care less about the data on Brexit negatives, or the stats on deaths in the Channel.

JOB would be all over them like a cheap suit.

Nope, not yesterday. His show was a trawl of obtuse edge cases, lived experiences from everyone except GC women, and that cloying soft glow emanating from him as he "arrived at the right decision" on this subject.

highfidelity · 06/04/2023 09:21

@RealityFan

I concur, he should have just remained silent and avoided this subject altogether.

Btw, I posted the following upthread yesterday which mentions the callers chosen:

"It was so disingenuous, I think the callers chosen were deliberately picked too. The second caller in particular - I knew as soon as they spoke it was a TW, and the fact they were allowed to talk about intersex as a third sex unchallenged was helping perpetrating the myth of a so-called third sex when anyone who has a DSD is either male or female, not a mix of the two."

The more I listen to JOB, the more it strikes me how he lacks any critical thinking skills whatsoever. Like I also wrote yesterday, "I was also perplexed that JoB seems to think some can be born into the wrong body, a lie that even Mermaids have stopped spouting."

WickedSerious · 06/04/2023 10:08

I can't listen to him,he makes me want to lie down and headbutt the floor.

I can't listen to him,he makes me want to lie down and headbutt the floor.

If you want to do that, you're better off kneeling rather than lying down, lol.

It's the last time I ever listen to him. It was transparently JOB virtue signalling to the mob, his herd, his purity spiral.

Just burnishing his credentials.

If he really wanted to thrash things out, he'd have set aside all three hours and had a mix of opinions and experts.

But no, he was happy just to opine, lay anecdotes, deliberately obfuscate, and have no callers other than TWAW types.

Simply a box ticking episode, his ego inflated by him feeling stunning and brave in broaching the subject at all, and then morally righteous in declaring his chosen side, of course that one being The Right Side Of History.
