I have a fucking white hot RAGE listening to this horror show. I am FURIOUS.

I know JOB is a clasic example of a slightly thick but very confident officer-class Englishman from one of those awful schools, but did he really suggest that plastic boobs and makeup would give a man more right to access women's spaces that a woman wearing flat shoes?

Surely even he would have noticed how dumb that is?

ozoruk1 · 05/04/2023 11:37

I listen to LBC regularly but if I’m ever in the car when he is on i immediately switch stations. His self aggrandising monologues are literally unbearable - particularly as he preaches from a position of privilege and nepotism! I feel sorry for his wife and daughters.

This is me. Cannot stand the man. Unbearable is right.

RealityFan · 05/04/2023 13:11

This movement has always been about the men, the first one where the Sissy ones are the elite stormtroopers, as opposed to cannon fodder.

James is just another guy on the MRA side, he's the one articulating how silly everything is. C'mon women, just stop this embarrassing show.

Pure propaganda.

As a guy, it feels like something significant I haven't folded into the stereotypical narrative.
I have nothing but absolute derision for the likes of JOB, Starmer, Jones etc.

highfidelity · 05/04/2023 13:11

I was listening to this while out and about and was so furious, was actually arguing out loud which caused many people to stop and stare at me.

It was so disingenuous, I think the callers chosen were deliberately picked too. The second caller in particular - I knew as soon as they spoke it was a TW, and the fact they were allowed to talk about intersex as a third sex unchallenged was helping perpetrating the myth of a so-called third sex when anyone who has a DSD is either male or female, not a mix of the two.

I was also perplexed that JoB seems to think some can be born into the wrong body, a lie that even Mermaids have stopped spouting.

RealityFan · 05/04/2023 13:16

My bigger gripe is with the likes of Ian Dale, a guy with a proper CV of politics interaction.

As a gay who is fully aware of his marginalisation by TRA and the destruction of mores, linguistics etc, he offers the most minimal pushback, always keen to gloss over or avoid.

Even the redoubtable Nick Abbott on his overnight show pretty much terminated a call from a guy who's daughter lost an athletics race to a TW.

The rot runs deep.

Lottapianos · 05/04/2023 13:19

'I think Shelagh is brilliant'

She is. Always informed, polite, thoughtful, challenging in a constructive way, entertaining to listen to. A proper journalist rather than a cheap little shit stirrer

Mollyollydolly · 05/04/2023 13:20

I agree about Iain Dale, I really liked him, but he's so hopeless on this issue, it really outs the sexist men. He's terrified of not being kind, and is really dismissive of women with concerns.

twitterexile · 05/04/2023 13:24

Another one agreeing that Iain Dale is a genuine let down on this and I agree with him on so much.
As for Nick Abott, I cannot listen to as his show is just a diatribe against anyone even slightly right wing.

I get a very strong impression that Nick is gender critical from listening to his podcast with Carol McGiffin. He probably feels like he can't go there openly on his radio show

RealityFan · 05/04/2023 13:26

It's pure fear and herd mentality. The absolute mental gymnastics required combined with absolute fear of cancellation, has just made so many cave and crumble. Dale knows his career is over, and his standing in his political social circle is trounced, if he shows even the least bit GC attitude.

JOB today? He just burnished his SJW credentials. But even he knows this ship has sailed.

Never has there been a bigger divide between the left elites who aim to teach us, and the students, more unruly and ungovernable than ever.

PetitPorpoise · 05/04/2023 13:32

I don't like him on this issue at all. I first discovered him whilst on maternity leave at the height of #MeToo .

Even then, as someone quite ill informed on GC issues, I could not fathom how on a Monday he could sit handwringing about how literally every woman has experienced some form of sexual harrassment or intimidation out and about in public, and on Tuesday fail to see why women didn't want biological males in isolated changing rooms and toilets.

How can he not see how those two things are related?

Because those biological men are women, dear.
He would say.
Remember, he started his show saying he didn't want to talk about "the science".
'Nuff said.

Disagree about ID. I listen to his podcast with Jacqui Smith and he is GC.

Indeed. He's got a brain, lol.

Yes, his semi mocking tone about himself, stating it was an area he couldn't stray onto, while saying just enough to imply that female races were for, duh, proper female people, meant he said an awful lot using the least number of words.

Still telling, that even a bullish confident male presenter, uninhibited at slamming into the Tories, Brexit, Trump etc, has been muzzled on this subject so to speak.

And it's so insidious, he muzzles himself.

As do we all, at work, social situations, public speaking.

The attempted cancellation of JKR has led to us cancelling ourselves in so many situations.

highfidelity · 05/04/2023 13:51

The whole premise of the phone was moot anyway, and demonstrated that JoB has no idea that the majority of TW retain their penis.

I think he wasn’t GC in the past but I was recently surprised to see that he seems to be now (can’t remember if it was on TV or in a newspaper).

Sam Harris’ recent podcast was extremely interesting to me - he admits he’s been avoiding the topic for fear of the mob but he must’ve been playing close attention to the topic because he’s extremely well informed (and terrifically terfy)

I’ve only heard the free half of the episode but hopefully now he’s broken the seal he’ll keep talking about it because he’s someone that people who think of themselves as leftwing will listen to.
Particularly important for the US and Canada where it’s much more of a left/right divide.

Notatmine · 05/04/2023 14:13

He claims that 'obviously' people can be 'born in the wrong body' and that any trans rapists such as Isla Bryson are clearly frauds and not at all real transwomen

Only nice people are trans. Just like only nice people are disabled.

If anyone not- nice pretends to be trans, that is on them, not the system that has let them pretend. Obviously.

StandingOvulation · 05/04/2023 14:16

Piss poor journalism today.

Well if he has finally spoken out that is great. But what repellent cowardice before that. Sam Harris and his ilk have happily been deriding and mocking Christians and people with supernatural/ spiritual beliefs for decades. Yet when an anti-science, anti-evidence, anti-rationalist movement which is actually introducing real human rights concerns and real life harms for women, when women are denied the free expression he had to critique religion, he is too scared to stand to his principles and speak? Instead he sits back and lets women be attacked and vilified and hounded out of livelihoods? Coward.

Absolutely.

At least he did admit his cowardice!

(I suspect he might have a gender distressed teen in his own family)

Lottapianos · 05/04/2023 14:27

That Shelagh Fogarty interview with Helen Belcher just now was WONDERFUL. Absolutely no fawning, robust challenges, calling out the bullshit as 'not a fact', repeatedly returning to 'reality'. Proper bloody interviewing
