I have a fucking white hot RAGE listening to this horror show. I am FURIOUS.

Parting shot - 'stop banging on about it' women. Shut the fuck up and let men decide what a woman is.

I listened to him yesterday about the disgusting cut in money from the goverment to social care. He’s a sanctimonious little shit even when you agree with the subject of his rants.

BridgetRandomfuck · 05/04/2023 12:06

I switched off when the topic came up, I knew how it would go. He deplores the 'footballification' of politics, his term for when people blindly defend issues because they're favoured by their own side, but that's EXACTLY what he does on this.

JoyceMeadowcroft1 · 05/04/2023 12:07

He's just said no one could answer his question so debate closed!
The approach might make him feel better but it won't work in the long run

twitterexile · 05/04/2023 12:09

I hope that you are right Joyce but I worry that this will be the tactic of the left going forward. Starmer is desperate to pretend that dissent on this is not a thing and so I think that their plan is to minimise and move on which is what O'Brien has done this morning.

RealityFan · 05/04/2023 12:10

Wow, that was an hour of JOB's greatest hits.

The deep thought, analysis and informed decision.

Picking obtuse edge case examples to trample on the main argument.

The hand-selected callers, except this time he didn't have the gammon thicko racist to pull apart in public (today that would have been apolectic GC feminist).

His grandstanding on the moral ramifications.

His snake like hissing of Tory women, from Nadine Dorries to Priti Patel to now Kemi Badenoch.

His endless self promotion, yes folks, the egoless JOB is writing another book.

What was really interesting was his saying he didn't want to discuss the science and philosophy around trans.

Erm, that's what it's all about, James old boy.
If you can't discuss those, along with women's rights, there's literally nothing else to talk about.

And his little faux embarrassing anecdote of him being in a changing room with his daughter, the moral conundrums this leads to.

It's quite something when Katie Montgomery makes a better fist arguing TWAW then a guy on a big salary with a public school edukashun.

What a prize chump.

Skyellaskerry · 05/04/2023 12:12

And really …. Were there no texts with opposing views at all that he could read out? Very very poor and one sided waste of an hour.

JoyceMeadowcroft1 · 05/04/2023 12:15

Well, if he/ they are right then the dismantling of single sex spaces will be problem free and everyone will be happy. If not, those who predict issues will be proven right. Sadly, this won't be consequence free for those involved in incidents that illustrate the problems.
Just as JOB says regarding Brexit, there will be no joy is proving we were right, just sadness that the problems that will arise weren't prevented

nilsmousehammer · 05/04/2023 12:16

'Women shouldn't have sex based rights cos it upsets some men.'

Those men are going to have to deal with it. Equality is not a man-only thing.

twitterexile · 05/04/2023 12:18

Also note the dropping in of the anecdote about 'my friend Paris Lees' who asked James whether James knew if Paris had a penis or not. 🙄

I agree of course but worry because the men who are MOST upset by this are the JOB's of the world who have huge support from the left and are very secure in their righteousness.

nilsmousehammer · 05/04/2023 12:21

Whether or not a male person has a penis is not relevant to meeting the need for equality of access and provisions for female people.

Whose lives do not revolve around male people and their needs and their penises.

JoyceMeadowcroft1 · 05/04/2023 12:26

It's telling that he hasn't posted about it on his Twitter feed where he wouldn't be able to control/ filter the replies.
He has lots of left wing women who follow him and who he has a lot in common with who would vociferously disagree with his take. He wouldn't be able to dismiss them as right wing bigots.
I think he did that hour purely to provide an hour of 'one side' as he thinks it is the side that doesn't get heard

Joyce, the problem is that after a decade of no debate and reasonable people being called transphobic and exponential escalation of biological men accessing women's spaces, the readjustment is gonna be painful, there will be collateral damage.

Don't blame GC women, blame TRAs and their allies in polite society. They're the ones who've spouted hate in our direction.

Imagine a decade ago, car drivers knew it was unreasonable to go down one-way streets the wrong way. And few did.

Then, in the last decade went out the narrative it was fine to go the wrong way, and plenty did.

And then today we reverted to the previous approach. Guess how many would be called out to start, still going the wrong way. At the same time bleating that they'd always done it.

All those like Debbie Hayton who warned that one day there'd be a legal reckoning and that breakers of social norms would feel the backlash with some unfortunate collateral cases, being proved right.

But that's ME FIRST society for you, TRAs burnt their bridges some time ago.

A few interesting responses to the LBC twitter feed though.

JOB attended Ampleforth College. Of course he has the exaggerated and misplaced confidence in his own intellectual abilities that characterises rich white men who have attended an expensive public school. We all know that if he'd attended an average state school he wouldn't have got where he is now. The fact that he once made a massive error of judgement - giving airtime to a man who falsely accused senior politicians of running a paedophile ring - hasn't dented his self-confidence one little bit.

I think anyone who believes they might be able to change JOB's mind through the calm application of logic and evidence should think again.

thebaneofmylifeisacat · 05/04/2023 12:42

Good grief I face yo listening to James test face years ago he's a pompous vacuous mysogynistic twat.

Talk radio far more fun and informative

thebaneofmylifeisacat · 05/04/2023 12:42

That's twat face 😂😂

I quite like LBC and really like Tom Swarbrick. I am usually at work when O'Brien is on thankfully but had the misfortune to hear his show today.

It's very disappointing. I used to agree with 80% of his views, but as someone wiser than me upthread said, his exaggerated and misplaced confidence in his own intellectual abilities, his constant bragging about his books, and his lack of curiosity in exploring other people's wisdoms is getting tedious. He is not the intelligent whizz kid he thinks he is (and someone should tell him it's not that wise to keep banging on about Ampleforth, with its checkered history 😱)

On this topic he is simply wrong.

RealityFan · 05/04/2023 12:52

thebaneofmylifeisacat · 05/04/2023 12:42

That's twat face 😂😂

My DS who I chat about this to quite often alerted me to JOB-a-Bobs show, and encouraged me to call in.

Nope. I'm secure enough in my own settled GC view, there's no arguing w Smug, and likely I wouldn't get on, between all the TWAW and trans going out with NB callers.

I have zero need to convince anyone of anything, even Britain's most up himself radio presenter.

My joy comes from knowing that JOB knows he's on the wrong side here. He may try to burnish his SJW #BeKind #DontBully #BeYourself credentials, but unlike hate for Tories or Brexit, he knows the British public aren't with him on this, and will absolutely support the law change to biological sex being sacrosanct.

His hour felt like a confused chat that was years too late, and pretty much out of date like curdled milk.

Had he talked in 2016, 2018, 2020 even, he'd have had more credibility.

But in 2023 when the Cass/Time To Think/Sturgeon/IOC/EHRC bombs have all detonated?

No James, just go back to your Brexit rants.

Skyellaskerry · 05/04/2023 13:01

Shelagh at 2pm today should be a better, more informed, and balanced listen

Lottapianos · 05/04/2023 13:01

If you fancy a completely different approach to this topic, Shelagh Fogarty (also on LBC) is increasingly excellent in her phone-ins about women's rights. She's discussing the proposed update to the Equality Act from 2pm today, should be good

Lottapianos · 05/04/2023 13:02

Great minds, Skyellaskerry 😁

Skyellaskerry · 05/04/2023 13:03

Yup @Lottapianos ! I think Shelagh is brilliant
