I can’t believe the misogyny and hostility towards women.

So you don't have anything, do you, Suggestions. Good to have it confirmed again.

It's all there from 9.40 in that video, any sensible person needs no further clarification.

I'm sorry that is not the case for you, but I never did people's homework for them at school, and I'm not about to start now.

ArabellaScott · 22/03/2023 13:47

lifeturnsonadime · 22/03/2023 13:46

I believe this politician has a trans identifying child

Does this child happen to be male do you know?

Born female. Now identifies as a man. They are very prolific and loud on social media, it's not hard to find them, but I don't like to post about politician's families so I wont' share the name.

MarshaBradyo · 22/03/2023 13:47

Bunshaped · 22/03/2023 13:46

I agree with you and @EdithStourton
But I think it will be impossible to un-derail this thread now - so perhaps we should start another thread about this politician and his shitty views

Yes maybe a new thread

I mean actual wipe off your shoe stinky shit

From a politician about women

If it was about Jewish people.. black people but women are meant to say fine

Wtf

Nick McKim's wife/partner is also a politician, I think, of some kind.

So if I say 'the sky is blue' and the nazis post in agreement, that's my fault and makes me a nazi?

Didn’t say anyone WAS a nazi for agreeing with a sign that says ‘anti-peado’.
I’m saying if was at a rally and nazis turned up I would question the rally/speakers

So surely he knows that his trans identifying daughter won't ever be truly seen by society as a male? Because of misogyny.

Why does he blame women for this?

ArabellaScott · 22/03/2023 13:49

I just realised he actually names the (adult) child in his speech. But still, I find it distasteful to involve family members; the focus should be on this man's words and his misogyny.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 22/03/2023 13:49

The level of thinking among some people is really quite something. You can't change sex and male and female are two different sexes. The Nazis agree, fundamentalist Christians agree, Isis agree, the Taliban agree, Putin agrees. The fact that bad people acknowledge scientific reality does not invalidate the scientific reality.

PSNonsense · 22/03/2023 13:49

I'm sorry that is not the case for you, but I never did people's homework for them at school, and I'm not about to start now.

You haven't even done your own homework! You can't, and haven't, articulated anything.

Sorry I'll stop derailing and engaging with the two who are managing to say very little by posting a lot.

EdithStourton · 22/03/2023 13:50

Why does he blame women for this?
Probably an old-fashioned misogynist.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 22/03/2023 13:51

I doubt you even did your own homework, let alone anyone else's.

I would hazard a guess Mr McKim has very little idea of what the women's rights supporters were actually saying. I doubt he has listened.

When people are deeply soaked in an ideology, and no doubt have lots of strong personal feelings, it can make it very hard to not respond in a knee jerk manner and to 'other' those with different views.

Jujuj · 22/03/2023 13:52

PSNonsense · 22/03/2023 13:44

They are not actively choosing to 'hang out' with them @Jujuj, they can't choose who turns up. It's not that difficult to understand.

I’ve been to plenty of feminist events and involved in organising in London and not once have a bunch of nazis turned up. It’s the type of speaker attracting them

Ereshkigalangcleg · 22/03/2023 13:52

What we can see is that Suggestions isn't in good faith. She has the words from the video in black and white. She seems to think they are damning, but she can't quite manage to articulate any reasons why.

So women should just shut up completely?

Not happening. No.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 22/03/2023 13:53

And then you have to wonder what you're supposed to do about. Not say anything, in case a Nazi agrees with you?

Yes, I think they'd like that.

I’m making my point on hate speech, calls to violence.

I am definitely bashing the nazis

I am also bashing anyone who doesn’t see it as an issue that the nazis are cool with what you are saying

I am also bashing anyone who doesn’t see it as an issue that the nazis are cool with what you are saying

That women should have single sex spaces?
That children should protected from surgery and hormones?
That female representation does not include men?
That safeguarding protects children from paedophilia.

You are selective about who is allowed to think those things?. Will they become bad things if thought by the wrong people.

You certainly get to see how stupid some people are here.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 22/03/2023 13:54

And it's "paedo", people. <grinds teeth>

Helleofabore · 22/03/2023 13:55

Jujuj · 22/03/2023 13:42

Those men… were nazis…

If they came in holding a sign that said ‘Free Puppies & Kittens’ I would be like
‘oh fuck there are nazis here, maybe I need to rethink who I’m hanging out with’.

The sign is irrelevant.

That post was in response to a poster who declared that the National Socialist Network, or Neo-nazis, were on the 'side' of Standing for Women.

Your portrayal of it here seems to be only for the purpose of trying to present a poster as being somehow 'aligned' with the NSN.

Just for readers because this seems to be forgotten.

The women organising the event have stated they did not know who this group of men were before the salut. They had no idea. The women organising and speaking at this event, and likely those attending had no affiliation, no connection and no knowledge of the NSN.

The post you highlighted was showing that by that poster's logic, which is clearly not even at basic level, that people didn't even know then, and most likely even now, what those men, the National Socialist Network, or Neo-nazis, were there for except for what was on the sign.

Tell you what, why don't you watch every single live stream and post in the chat whenever YOU see someone like the NSN so you can warn the women. Wouldn't that be a great idea? You can research every single group that has violent tendencies (including ALL the extreme trans activists) and warn the women when they are in close proximity. They can then at least on the chat denounce them thoroughly after spending an hour checking your accusation is correct!

Ridiculous? yes, it is. Because you are now here trying to portray a poster as supporting the Neo-nazis.

ArabellaScott · 22/03/2023 13:55

McKim says the women 'stood next to Nazis as they gave the salute' and calls it a 'disgraceful collusion'.

Surely that's actionable slander?

beastlyslumber · 22/03/2023 13:55

There's no logic in the argument that women speaking is what's drawn the Nazis to the event, therefore women are Nazis.

Women speaking has drawn the TRAs to the event, but no one thinks that makes them TRAs.

How about, women are just trying to speak and groups of men want to take over their event for their own purposes. Because that's actually what's happened.

Helleofabore · 22/03/2023 13:55

Jujuj · 22/03/2023 13:53

I’m making my point on hate speech, calls to violence.

And we disagree with you.

There have been no calls to violence outside your very bad faith interpretations.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 22/03/2023 13:56

I’m making my point on hate speech, calls to violence.

There were zero calls to violence from LWS. "Hate speech" can be conveniently catch all, what are you referring to, from the women? The Nazis were uninvited.

lifeturnsonadime · 22/03/2023 13:57

When people are deeply soaked in an ideology, and no doubt have lots of strong personal feelings, it can make it very hard to not respond in a knee jerk manner and to 'other' those with different views.

I've seen that a bit in circles i'm in. Because my daughter is autistic and there seems to be a link between autism and being trans identifying I come across parents of trans identifying children more often, I expect, than most.

It does seem that they don't want to engage in any critical thinking about this because they see their job as parent to be to protect their child at any cost and no matter that it affects women's rights or other children. That doesn't matter, what matters is their trans child.

This does also seem to be common with parents of adult trans identifying people, I think we also saw it this week with Jamie Lee Curtis.

What is shocking here is that this politician is making an overt political point which is pretty antidemocratic when the aim is to shut women up.
