He also appeared to aim a dig at MSPs who passed the legislation: “What’s happened in Scotland is a reminder that if you want change, you have to carry the public with you.”
He also said: “Gender recognition will not be one of the priorities of the incoming government.”

Interesting. Are they finally beginning to read the room...?

For me Kier Starmmer needs to state clearly that he believes that he will not adopt any new gender identity bill. I believe that the legislation has already gone too far in the UK but accept what is in place - any further I feel present a danger to young people in particular

The current legislation allows men into womens prisons, on womens hospital wards, it allows men to perform intimate care for disabled girls.

I dont want any prime minister, or potential prime minister to pretend thats not happening.

I dont accept that the law can only be ammended in the favour of men who want everyone to ignore their sex, but not in favour of girls.

It's over, they didn't manage to change the laws as Debtons suggested.

The ability of men with a sexual fetish to sell their ideology to young children with such ease - supported by the literary industry and too many in libraries and education is shameful.

The Tories will say anything at this point as they are desperate to pretend they care, in reality it is likely to be more lies. As usual.

Ah, whatabouttery. My favourite logical fallacy. This isn't about the Conservative Party; it's about Keir Starmer and the Labour Party.

About the only thing that Starmer could say at this point that would make me vote Labour would be that he will look at repealing the GRA

Talk is cheap. Let's see Labour repeal the GRC and then maybe I'll start to believe them.

And the insistence that women should not put their own rights before any other consideration. Impossible to imagine this being said to any other group, "Black people, you must vote for an avowed racist because it's your duty to keep the Tories out".

Honestly, I am extremely nervous about the campaign to repeal the GRC, much as I sympathise with the principles behind the campaign. I think Labour are going to get in and replace it with something worse, that is effectively self-ID.

I went to see if Guy Adams the journalist is the same as Guy Adams the author (I'm still none the wiser) and found the journalist's twitter feed. He's tweeted the excerpts that weren't suitable for publication, Shock

This thread came up in Active which is the only reason I posted on it. If I'd seen which forum it was in I probably wouldn't have bothered.

I remain grateful to the one poster who was prepared to engage in constructive and civil discourse with me, even though she disagreed.

More like he's hoping it will just be dropped as a topic during elections when they're trying to win people over. I don't trust them at all on this issue. They're going to have to make their policies and intentions VERY clear before I'd ever consider voting for them again. Tbh I haven't voted for them since Blair lied about introducing fees for uni in 98(?), I keep grudges a looooong time.

Yes and let's face it whatever his other 'ERG' opinions, I am fairly sure Rees-Mogg will know that biological sex is important in most contexts and certainly not want children to be exposed to inappropriate sexual content at school.

UK women got the vote earlier than in lots of other countries but it has only been just over 100 years. Only 100 years and we are now having to fight to keep our hard-won sex-based rights. Sex based rights also apply to men incidentally, they also may not be discriminated against because of their biological male sex. They just don't need the protection to the same extent.

I was curious if those posters would think for example if it was OK for a gay person to not vote for a party or leader or mp that they felt had homophobic policies

Well actually Kier, gender should be a key priority of an incoming Labour government

because we need reform of the equality Act to distinguish sex and gender, and repeal of the GRA to sort this mess out.

Would anyone who has not signed this yet please take a look now? Even more signatures would help to add weight to the message that many people want this?

I didn't expect anyone to #be kind. I expected people to debate without being personally rude and one person did - as well as challenging the personal attack levelled at me, which was deleted by MNHQ (I didn't report it).

Evidently those who don't toe the line you find acceptable aren't welcome to post. As I said, if I'd noticed initially what forum this was posted in, I wouldn't have bothered to contribute - probably better for both of us.

Sadly, I couldn't get as far as the comments, @MrsOvertonsWindow i didn't even get as far as finding out if the poor old soul only got a proper dinner on Mothers Day, or if it was the only day of the year that she saw her grans.
Either way, i don't much care, this is her that said...
" We will not rest until women and girls are safe at home, in the street, at school, colleges and university, in the workplace and online. " .
and yet, she's part of a shadow cabinet of a party that seeks to allow males into the very places where women ought to be able to seek sanctuary, with a party leader that thinks men can grow womens parts.
If she has any terfy qualities, then they are very well hidden and she is far too much of a coward to stand with Rosie D.
Anything any of them say is far too little, far too late, they've already done the damage.
