Julie Bindel takes to right wing GBNews to smear the trans community with the same trope that was used against gay men in the 1980s - that they are all paedophiles. Has she forgotten that made gays a target for physical violence? Does she care if trans people are now targeted too.

Julie has given him 24 hours to appologise or she will take legal action.

I've never been able to take Comrade Bragg seriously since I learned that he gave up on being a punk and joined the British Army.

Julie said that the group MAP was part of the rainbow coalition. As far as I know, there's no actual group called the rainbow coalition. Presumably she was meaning LGBTQ+ and all the other letters.

So, if that's not the case, let's have a proper description of what all those things mean, and what they do and don't include, including pedophiles/maps. Do they include fetishists? Men who like pup play and/wear nappies, etc. Men who like dressing up as little girls? Al la Challoner senior.

Is Billy Bragg going away and asking his peer group what kind of leg he has to stand on? Is he saying to them well, what do you think about this map thing - is it being included?

If he thinks he's right, and it's not, he'll have no trouble going to court, presumably. But if they say we-ll...it's a tricky one, bit of a grey area...

I am just so so sick of the arrogance of these left wing men who believe they are not misogynists and yet have such an underlying lack of respect for women that Bragg thinks it’s more likely that Julie Bindel, who has been working on this stuff for DECADES, is a homophobe (Julie Bindel!) than that she actually knows something he doesn’t.

Yes always dicks, but it is a common thing (which I see in my own male friends who are not nearly so awful) for middle aged men to become more pompous, arrogant and self righteous. They’ve just spent too much of their lives being deferred to and it makes them assume they must always be right.

Yes, I see this too. The lecturing tone. The inability to see that there might be another point of view and it might actually have some merit.

Thing is, you have no idea what they really 'believe' as they are so mealy-mouthed and dishonest about it. It's starting to look like a straightforward scam - act like misogynists but use the right language to put off the hard-of-thinking.

If I were trans (and I mean someone with deep distress caused by gender dysphoria), I’d be furious at how the rainbow umbrella has been widened to include a whole melting pot of people who are not oppressed but are dressing up and changing pronouns for shits and giggles.

With scantily-clad drag queens wanting to twerk in front of kids, and furries and Littles demanding not to be kink-shamed, boundaries are being slowly eroded. It makes sense that so-called MAPs would want a piece of the pie (pun intended) and I can understand Julie’s realisation that the alphabet soup is not helping lesbians anymore.

Meanwhile Billy Bragg has piggybacked on to trans rights as he sees it as the new big crusade. He even changed the lyrics to Sexuality! Instead of “just because you’re gay, I won’t turn you away” it’s now “just because you’re they, I won’t turn you away” - and “if you stick around I’m sure we’ll find the right pronoun.” So embarrassing, trying to be an ally but just looking so patronising! (I used to like Billy, for what it’s worth, but that “I won’t turn you away” lyric always made me cringe.)

He needs to leave lesbians alone and stay in his lane.

I see what you mean but in the case of the extremely self righteous and not particularly intelligent like Bragg I think it is far more likely to be self deception than Machiavellianism.
He is a good guy, he has always been one of the good guys, therefore it follows that anything he says and does must be on the right side. And that means if people disagree with him they must be on the bad side! Baddies! Probably Nazis all along! Unfortunately he is too thick to notice the utter absurdities this has led him into.
