Billy Bragg has tweeted.

Julie Bindel takes to right wing GBNews to smear the trans community with the same trope that was used against gay men in the 1980s - that they are all paedophiles. Has she forgotten that made gays a target for physical violence? Does she care if trans people are now targeted too.

Julie has given him 24 hours to appologise or she will take legal action.

JB is measured, eloquent and sensible. I wish she wouldn't denounce other women but I'm Team Julie all the way here.

Don't know what would be more entertaining - a proper sheepish climb down from Bragg, or the court case.

As an aside reading through the Twitter thread there are a number of people calling Julie a ‘political lesbian’ or ‘identifies’ as a lesbian is shocking especially as she details the abus she has had growing up and coming out. It does show the lack of arguments they have though in that they have to lie to try to undermine her.

The 'age play' fetishists and those who like to wear nappies, for one. There are also 'eunuch' identified men ( WPATH introduced 'Eunuch' as a new identity last year, saying that children as young as three could develop eunuch identities). If you look at eunuch websites you will find that not only do men fantasise about castration, but actually pay to watch others being castrated. There are also sites on which there are long, 'romantically' written tales of the castration of young boys.

Add to that the fact that many young men are heavily involved in all things Japanese,such as manga and the more obviously pornographic hentai - which often features very young female characters. You can almost guarantee that if you pop in to your local branch of 'Forbidden World' you'll have several blue/green/pink haired trans identified people in there all at one time.

Remember that "eunuchs" are listed as a legitimate gender by WPATH and everyone referring to the WPATH guidelines. So they are part of the "T" apparently (I'm sure many trans ppl would disagree). Lots of eunuch discussion out there is definitely MAP-like.

I think a court case might turn out to be instructive for the general public; even if stressful and time consuming for Julie.

I saw this unfold in real time. You could almost hear Julie laughing when Billy dug out Julie's 'misogynist' Substack article and threatened to counter sue.

Julie's a writer. She will know libel laws inside out because she has to. Billy, I suspect, does not.

Bragg doesn’t seem to be a well considered person, yet always keen to denigrate people. Particularly women.

And yes, his support of strippers recently was fully in line with sex work is work feminist thinking. Neatly avoiding or conveniently ignoring the exploitative aspect.

It is incredible that a fading male singer so openly displays his distaste for lesbians. This group has been started by Kathleen Stock, Martina Navratilova & Julie yet he openly targets and criticises them for setting up an organisation to ensure that lesbians are heard, visible and included in research.
He seems to have lost his off switch when it comes to displaying his dislike of women.

I think that the use of the phrase "dog whistle" will cut no ice in a court of law. What "dog whistle" means, as used these days, is: "This person said something, but meant something completely different." Good luck convincing a judge of that one, Billy.
