Journalist Dominique Samuels has posted video of one of their events: https://twitter.com/dominiquetaegon/status/1630948003962912768?s=61&t=gd6tu0Iz6JpyKXGLWMLGjg

Which features men gyrating and hanging from the ceiling surrounded by a crowd of clueless women and their babies.

I would say it's NSFW but it's apparently safe for babies so have a watch.

Here's a reddux article:

https://reduxx.info/uk-sold-out-rave-for-babies-featuring-drag-queens-prompts-outrage/

Since the video went viral, the company has taken down its website and Facebook and made their Instagram private. I wonder why? Confused

My fellow se Londoners might be interested to know that someone posted about this on the local Facebook group last night. It’s gone poof now but the reaction was very different from the weekend, where we were all called far right bigots for having an issue with drag shows for kids.

Hoppinggreen · 03/03/2023 08:27

So apparently they have cancelled future shows due to “trolls”

If your children were cared for ie school, nursery setting, by a person who found these events harmless and no problem...would you remove your children?

Absolutely. Because if they can’t see a problem with this, what else do they not see a problem with?

Moonicorn · 03/03/2023 08:39

It’s being discussed on LBC

This is what I don’t get. Who is driving this? Has there ever been a thread in AIBU that goes like this? And someone has gone “a-ha!” at spotting a gap in the market?

”Hi everyone. First post in AIBU so please be gentle. My PFB DS is only 6 months old, no real issues, but still BF at night which I don’t mind. Prior to him being born I really enjoyed going to gay BDSM-themed burlesque nights for entertainment. Always found it a great night out with a bunch of like-minded friends. I haven’t been since DS was born. It’s not really DH’s thing. I’d really like to go again, but I’m too tired to go at night, even if I could get DH to look after DS while I went or got a baby sitter while we both went. I just think it’s really unfair that all of the gay BDSM-themed burlesque events take place at a time that doesn’t suit parents with young babies.

“AIBU to expect there to be more gay BDSM-themed burlesque nights to be on during the day with the ability to bring your baby?”

^^

Part of me is saying do it do it do it! Then let us know how quickly you get your arse handed to you On a plate!.😁I reckon it would be an interesting experiment. But not one iI'mn brave enough to carry out myself. Pushes you from behind through the saloon doors of the AIBU public house.

Oh I do hope they get trolled into shutting down every sexually abusive baby session!

HairyPooter · 03/03/2023 08:52

Mum and baby groups have certainly changed since I was a new mum.

I can't get over why mums and dads think it was okay to take their babies (and presumably babies' young siblings) to such an event. We know that there's boundary pushing and normalising adult sexual behaviour around children but these parents reactions at the event suggests that there is no boundary and anything goes. It's a style of parenting where the parent's needs matters more than the child's.

Has there been a statement that future shows are being cancelled as this link from last night says the show will be going on in one venue at least

Honestly?

Because it’s something to post on Instagram.

”Look at me, look how cool I am! I’m not just a boring mum! Also, look how open minded I am” then allllllll the hashtags.

Quite frankly, it’s pathetic.

Here's a review from Instagram. So yes, it seems there are half naked bdsm men, booze and edible bubbles. And small children. What fun! Hmm

Fabric? What do they do with that?

Using fabric in a sensory context suggests skin contact to me.

What else might it be?

Helleofabore · 03/03/2023 08:57

Meaningofthesea · 02/03/2023 18:17

Yes, of they are real I would be appalled.

They're not real.

Please use some critical thinking.

Are you appalled yet @Meaningofthesea ?

Here in this tweet is another archive link to a different page of the companies own website. And there amongst the PR shots is at least one similar thonged performer and the performer in the harness.

The archive was done on 2nd December 2022.

Have you worked out how this has all been faked yet so you can explain to us who you implored to use our critical thinking skills and to apologise? Or are you going to wait for another 12 hours in case the organisers release a statement about the faked videos, before you come back and tell us you too are appalled?

The parachute thing I think. Where adults hold the edges and lift and lower it over the babies.

That's not so different from what the organisers said about why they created these events.

CABABABARAVE is an exciting new event for parents and their babies!

A little slice of afternoon delight that provides show-stopping cabaret interspersed with captivating baby sensory moments.. ending in a RAVE.

Hosted by Lizzie and Gemma – Two performers turned mums who were constantly looking to be entertained whilst holding a baby in one hand and a pint in the other.. so CABABABARAVE was born.

“We wanted to create the type of event we ourselves as Mums would want to go to. There’s only so many times you can listen to the f**king Wheels on the Bus. We wanted to give parents the experience of a ‘big London night out’.. cabaret, drinks and dancing.. but one you can bring your baby to and still be home for bedtime”

Plus foam party? Did they take their tops off, or get wet?

Ah. Ok. It was the word fabric.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 03/03/2023 09:01

Just scrolling through twitter, the images are so telling. I won’t share them on here. The Very Cool Mummies in the audience look thrilled with themselves. The kids just look baffled. And bored.

The pics on the archive show the bubbles.

twitter.com/datingoverfifty/status/1631406895377293315?s=46&t=IIqJ2lhbkE17b3WQi6wA0Q

The bubbles are fired from a bubble gun and that would be quite normal and fun for babies to watch and enjoy.

FrancescaContini · 03/03/2023 09:09

I’d much rather be singing The Wheels on the Bus with my baby than take a little one within 100 miles of this burlesque/rainbow/be-thonged/pint-swigging shitshow.

Are the Cool Mummies women who all came of age during the 90s, hence the foam party, Loaded, rave vibezz?

How entertainment for children has changed since I had my first child.

Look at these poor kids. I'm guessing it's one of the women who run the company shouting woohoo! and yeah! at the embarrassingly bad performers.

No one looks like they're having fun. The mums look embarrassed, the children look baffled. But I'm guessing the mums told themselves this is great and inclusive and shoved down their feelings of disquiet because they don't want to be seen as boring old prudes who think that queer theory has no place around children.

I wonder how many people go more than once.

Here is Dominique Samuels YouTube. It also had footage from the Honor Oak ‘Coppertop’ event.

She has more images from this event’s organisers from about half way through.

maybe meaning would like to comment on the fakeness now?

Did someone create a fake website back in December and archive it like a long term planted story? Is that what happened?

Datun · 03/03/2023 09:17

Maybe that is what is on that father’s head???
