'KATE Forbes looks set to be probed by the SNP's conduct committee after members of the party's LGBTQ+ wing accused her of breaking rules on transphobia.

In an interview with ITV Border, when asked if she believed a trans woman is a woman, the Finance Secretary replied: "I believe that a trans woman is a biological male who identifies as a woman."'

Nrtft but has anything been said about this bloke who's just been found guilty of stalking(?) Kate?

She's currently favourite among SNP members but with a lot of undecided , according to some headlines. I've also seen a piece (the Daily Record?), claiming that, should she win, she might still be denied the post of First Minister.

Sugarfree23 · 25/02/2023 00:54

I read that too that she'd been stalked for 5 years. That's a heck of a long time.

I can't see why theyd vote her leader but deny her 1st Minister that's bonkers but then a great many things SNP do are bonkers.

AN Wilson has an excellent weekend essay in The Times on Forbes.

The hounding of Kate Forbes shows godless squad have won

"Humza Yousaf, the Muslim MSP who is the frontrunner to be the next SNP leader, said he often consulted the Islamic community about his policy positions."

@StalkedByASpider it is similar tho as you are talking about their genetics and we agree that is wrong, you wouldn't keep changing it to British Asian as they aren't genetically similar to the majority of the British population even tho from a science standpoint say in screening for genetic disease it's very important to know ethnic history just like it is to know if someone is XX or XY.

Therefore it is the same as categorising a trans woman to a biologically male woman which is what she has said. Both are biological statements.

It forcing the term man and woman to be about genotype when society increasingly sees them as a phenotype.

If she isn't capable of navigating a simple debate like this without stepping outside of the party line how is she going to manage relationships with countries where you simply don't state your view? Imagine her on a visit to the Middle East if she has to speak out on gender, is she going to also speak out on the female rights issues and set relationships back. At the end of the day she paid to say things with tact and instead she kicked the ball into the crowds

"The party line..." 😆😆😆

Sugarfree23 · 25/02/2023 08:32

The Catholic Church has came out in her support too. I can't remember the exact words but basically saying her views are mainstream Christian views and her treatment will discourage Christians from entering politics.

"The party line..." 😆😆😆

its even better. The statement ‘If she isn't capable of navigating a simple debate like this without stepping outside of the party line’ followed a paragraph of actual pseudo-biological sounding gobbledegook.

It’s no better than saying: DNA Methylation, Chromatin, Histone Modifications. If she can’t follow a simple debate. 🙄🙄

Crucially, you have to make sure that none of those words are actually used correctly. The important thing is to bamboozle people with technical sounding terminology. And then blame them for being too stupid for not being able to understand what you’re saying.

phenotype used to mean what sort of haircut you like and whether you’re wearing a dress. 🤣

hryllilegur · 25/02/2023 08:58

And then followed up with ‘the party line’ as if leadership candidates aren’t campaigning to be the one that directs that. 😁

Give it 6 months and it'll be added as a dictionary definition.

Which is what the new puritans want.

I say that as a non-religious person who doesn't agree with Forbes on same-sex marriage, and who thinks the Catholic Church has a lot to answer for(!).

A healthy society has a plurality of views. It doesn't seek out and pick off people of faith. And people of faith that make up a healthy society don't seek out and pick off other groups.

Are you aware that 32 of the UK’s medical schools have signed the GLADD character on affirmation of gender identity?

They can affirm "gender identity" all they want, it's all bollocks anyway. But presumably they still teach ACTUAL science and biology to their med students?

What I'm saying is that if stating that a trans woman is a biological male is a hate crime, then how is it NOT a hate crime in the realm of science?

ie. if its illegal in one context, why is it not illegal in all?

It's a fool's errand to expect logic and consistency.

similarminimer · 26/02/2023 20:43

The gladd charter is about banning conversion therapy. It doesn't anywhere say that trans people are biologically the sex with which they identify

similarminimer · 26/02/2023 23:47

Or even biologically the sex typically associated with the gender with which they identify

To be an authentic TTW would we need to wear visible packers whilst wearing our over the top female outfits, swishy hair, lipstick and tilting heads like mad?

We're going to have to have pillow fights too and start liberally sharing tampons with random strangers too.
