I used to go to a pub in edinburgh at lunchtime on a Friday reasonably regularly years ago (when I was a student). My fellow students and I used to marvel at a table of women who ordered a bottle of read wine and irn bru every single week.

Isn't there a theory that cultures that eat out there stuff, like maggotty cheese, duck embryos or rotten shark have historically suffered famines. It's eat that or starve, so pass the bat stew.

Sorry to deviate from the maggoty cheese chat but....

I find it shameful that the police spent an hour forcing KJK to talk about pronouns / her comments that women don't have penises (or whatever) as multiple woman outside talked about actual crimes against them that the police had failed to investigate at all.

I am teaching my daughters to at best not trust the police and at worst to fear them.

I do not think the police have the consent of women to their policing, not any more, and certainly not their harassment of KJK.

My DM fed me ox tongue and dripping, having also gone through rationing. I enjoy both TBH, but maggot cheese is a step too far.

As a victim of stalking and harassment for several years, I started to have panic attacks every time I had to enter a police station to give my statements. Not panic attacks about the stalker, panic at the police response, or lack of response. I got everything from “take it as a compliment he’s doing this” to “can’t your dh beat him up?” to the usual “he says he didn’t do it so we can’t do anything” despite video evidence.

I'm beginning to think we need a sort of 'everyone's invited' for women to share their shitty experiences of the police, when they've been abused or harassed by the police or when the police have failed to investigate crimes against women.
