Clearly i must be missing something here. Why would what is quite obviously a man, need moderate to heavy flow protection underwear???

Where will this end?

It says it’s to manage leaks, so it’s for incontinence.

There are actually quite a few on the market x

Johnnysgirl · 16/02/2023 20:48

Period pants are not incontinence aids 🙄
They're for a very different type of bodily emission, one that doesn't flow from a male body.

Leafytrees · 16/02/2023 20:50

There's a thread about it here The pants are aimed at transmen who have periods.

Dogsarebetterthanhumans · 16/02/2023 20:55

See image below or their website. The mens ones are for incontinence.

@Acunningruse the individual in that photo is a transman.

Makemetry · 16/02/2023 21:24

But men can have periods can’t they? Why are the men’s pants only for incontinence, sweat and err…chafing? This is NOT the kind of transphobic, non-inclusivity I’d expect from a company like Modibody.

MrsJamin · 16/02/2023 21:31

The model is female and fully top half naked. I have reported for nudity and they should remove the photos.

Leafytrees · 16/02/2023 21:39

@Makemetry don't worry, these pants are in the women's underpants section of the website. Which no longer features the word woman. All is well with the world.

MrsJamin · 17/02/2023 06:21

All is very much not right with the world.

FatSealSmugSoup · 17/02/2023 06:28

The irony is - even with my dodgy eyesight, their top surgery, muscles and tattoos - quite clearly a FEMALE body. You can’t cheat biology.

nepeta · 17/02/2023 06:50

What I find confusing in this is that the WPATH itself has listed the changes from going on testosterone as including the cessation of menses. It's not clear what percentage of transmen don't take testosterone or what percentage menstruates even while on it, but the one piece of data I have seen on this is that less than 50% menstruate.

So the market we are talking about here is extremely tiny, yet seems to take centre position. Though then of course we have all the nonbinary menstruators who don't wish anyone to have embodied identities at all, and they seem rather vocal online at least about this.

Baaaaaa · 17/02/2023 07:34

They do seem to have stopped with the "menstruators" crap, so that's something.

If they were advertising a product designed to cope with incontinence then one would wonder why the representation of that would involve someone who effectively did it to themselves by taking hormones or by having a surgery with am extremely high failure rate which often results in incontinence or having to pee with a catheter.

Surely that's offensive to those who have suffered similar effects through mis managed births etc

Beamur · 17/02/2023 09:02

Transmen sometimes have periods too. There's actually a quite informative blog from the model on the website if you want to understand more.
It's not unreasonable that a company that makes products markets them to people who might be interested in buying them.

Beamur · 17/02/2023 09:03

Modibodi do also make pants for incontinence. It's all on the website.

ArabellaScott · 17/02/2023 09:12

Sainsbury's own period pants are a third of the price, and more comfortable.

Mrsdragonfly · 17/02/2023 09:12

That’s Oscar. Oscar has transitioned. I found Oscar’s quote about not knowing who menstruates offensive when the answer is women.

Moomoola · 17/02/2023 09:15

It's also Normalizing and glamourising this extreme and dangerous crap.

It is unreasonable when pandering to this deluded ideology is insulting and offensive to women, their main market.

ArabellaScott · 17/02/2023 09:22

Makes me think of using an anorexic model to sell Slimfast.

Yes! I couldn’t see that body as male. I was baffled atfirst by the normal-male-looking chest, without scars, but that must be the result of cosmetic surgery. Everything else looked female. Glad my brain is still seeing reality.

Theres always a " price ". Finally there's things on the market outside of disposable items which can be tricky and fiddly and painful to use if mistakes are made ( ever pulled out a dry tampon). Something that must ne an absolute god send to Little girls starting out because in the world of disposable pads it would appear if you need a small one u also don't need the absorbancy which of course isn't always the case.

But the trade off is that you have to pretend men need them too and play along that women amd girl is a dirty word and have major surgery and body modification glamourised.

We literally can't have any thing.
