Clearly i must be missing something here. Why would what is quite obviously a man, need moderate to heavy flow protection underwear???

Where will this end?

I am sorry for anyone offended by this advertising but I still think it's a product that is for any menstruating woman, regardless of presentation.
It's pointless to pretend that the transman aesthetic doesn't exist - you don't have to like it and I too feel a pull of sadness that women choose this, but Oscar is an adult and free to make their own choices.
There are other makers of period pants if it bothers you that much.

Done. Thank you

Done. They really want to know your entire CV, don't they? Hope they're not going to send someone to hunt me down!

But anyone who menstruates know fine well this product is for them. Someone who considers themselves to be a man, not a woman, doesn't need to be put front and centre of their advertising campaign.
Their target market is 99.9% women.

@Johnnysgirl
😂 I missed out all other than my email address, thought it would get rejected but didn't!

Beamur · 17/02/2023 10:47

Whoever their target is, this campaign has given them a huge amount of publicity and coverage.
They might lose some customers over this but gain others.

Unlikely. Other companies/politicians have gone woke, gone broke.

I doubt the minuscule amount of men people who'll be reeled in by this will even marginally compensate for the amount of women who won't use them again.
Their target market is adult human females. If they can't grasp that, they deserve to go broke.

Toddlerteaplease · 17/02/2023 12:39

That model is obviously a female on closer inspection.

Damn...

I was less than honest with my postcode, though 😉. Maybe that'll throw them off the scent 😂

punkofop · 17/02/2023 12:50

Why do they even need the section headers 'Women, Teens, Men, All Genders, kids'?

They could simply have had 'Period wear, Incontinence wear, Teen period and Nappies'. Or similar. Then anyone can find the product they require.

Why did they feel the need to sort by sex? I know the answer.

BordoisAgain · 17/02/2023 13:45

TBH some of the comments on this thread are really playing into the MN is transphobic trope. Transmen are allowed to have period products that appeal to them and there are still plenty of "feminine" styles to choose from.

MrsJamin · 17/02/2023 13:46

I reported the advert to Facebook for nudity and they didn't accept it. Full fronted female nudity allowed on Facebook then. ARGH!

bellac11 · 17/02/2023 13:49

FatSealSmugSoup · 17/02/2023 06:28

The irony is - even with my dodgy eyesight, their top surgery, muscles and tattoos - quite clearly a FEMALE body. You can’t cheat biology.

Thats what I thought, they are womens breasts and she has a waist.

MrsJamin · 17/02/2023 13:49

Of course transmen are "allowed" to have period products 🙄, but why are modibodi pandering to such a small minority of people who have dangerously modified their bodies? It's promoting damaging your own healthy body.

How about instead showing an older woman, or someone with a disability using their products? There are much larger groups of women who aren't represented using menstrual products.

FatSealSmugSoup · 17/02/2023 13:51

I’m confused. Am I (as an actual) woman to wear only pink frilly pants? What should I do with my black “utility” (waist-warning sloggis) pants? Have I been missold? Have sloggi assumed my gender? 😔

ClaudiasFringe · 17/02/2023 13:55

I see there are 'boyshorts' in the image of the Underpants section. Are there also 'girlpants' somewhere on the website?

MillicentTrilbyHiggins · 17/02/2023 14:03

@Leafytrees they do use the word woman. There's a 'women' section.

@FatSealSmugSoup where did you get that idea from? My modibodi (from the women's section) are plain black. No pink or frills in sight.

@ClaudiasFringe boyshort is a well known style of underwear. See also boyfriend jeans.

@punkofop I assume they sort by sex because mens pants are a different cut to women's.

@MrsJamin they do show a variety of women. Including one with prosthetic legs.

Does to matter? Does it make even the blindest not of different to you??

latticeleaf · 17/02/2023 14:16

@MillicentTrilbyHiggins "I assume they sort by sex because mens pants are a different cut to women's."

That's the point, trans men will have to click on the women's section to get period pants. And trans women will have to click on the men's section to get incontinence pads.

That is the point @punkofop was making I think.

Lcb123 · 17/02/2023 14:20

I know they're sold as period pants but they'd work for other leaks. Not sure it's the end of the world.

Oh yes. I think you're right! Sorry.

over50andfab · 17/02/2023 14:52

I think it's a great website as it's all-inclusive. As a woman and wanting to be referred to a woman I do not feel erased by it as there is a section for women. There are also other sections including all genders where they can find many of the same products. Maybe this section will be expanded with demand.

A previous thread on this was deleted, probably due to comments made, where someone non-binary and perimenopausal posted. They thought it was a good website for them and regardles of how I want to be referred to I like that they felt included too.

WickedSerious · 17/02/2023 14:52

Leafytrees · 16/02/2023 20:50

There's a thread about it here The pants are aimed at transmen who have periods.

So they're for women.

Seasonofthewitch83 · 17/02/2023 15:10

Wait, what is the argument here?
