Clearly i must be missing something here. Why would what is quite obviously a man, need moderate to heavy flow protection underwear???

Where will this end?

I agree with @over50andfab . The website is pretty inclusive, there are sections for everyone. I do not feel offended at all.

AltitudeCheck · 17/02/2023 15:30

I really can't get my (period) knickers in a twist over this!

I'm all for diverse models and in favour of anyone being able to wear any clothing they like/ need even if it comes from the 'wrong' department or wasn't made for that purpose. I wear men's hiking socks with my work boots, I'm neither a man nor going hiking, but I know that's the department to shop in for a particular fit/ style that I like.

It's also Normalizing and glamourising this extreme and dangerous crap.

This.

I've stopped buying from Modibodi.

Of course you do,and you're probably not alone. But they will sell the vast majority of their product to men, and that's why their marketing is geared towards men, not women.
You're not really making the point you think you are?

Does to matter? Does it make even the blindest not of different to you??

Yes!! Yes it bloody matters. Think!!

They are normalising chopping off body parts.

I don't see any of that or any glamorising. I do like that they are all shapes, sizes and ages (including women with grey hair!) and include disabilities and health conditions.

They're being used as models. Of course it's glamourising Hmm

over50andfab · 17/02/2023 17:13

I think it's more about being identifiable to anyone who might want to buy their products. I can identify with some of the (older menopausal) models and appreciate our differences.

I'll leave it there as I wanted to express my opinion and not take it into a bigger discussion and will leave to others to continue. Plus it's Friday 😀

PinkFrogss · 17/02/2023 17:15

Presumably they have a target market and wouldn’t be selling or advertising these products if it wasn’t profitable? Not really sure what the issue is with modi-bodi specifically.

If the argument is about promoting an unhealthy body, surely the same could be said about plus size brands using obese models and selling very large size clothing?

Marvellous. Now try and imagine you have a struggling teenage daughter confused about where she fits in.

I think there are much larger pressures at play than a modi bodi advert, and I’d be less concerned about her choice of period pants and more concerned about other choices she may make

MrsJamin · 19/02/2023 12:34

www.facebook.com/reel/765171451245550 ohhhh it's only non-binary people that find periods "a drag"! Of course women themselves do run across the beach in frilly knickers. Why are some people and companies trying to normalise menstrual pants with a fake penis bulge in them?! Just disgusting.

KatMcBundleFace · 19/02/2023 16:25

I don't have periods cos I use a hormone coil... and yes, they aren't suitable for everyone, and yes, they don't stop periods for everyone, but I still think transmen should give it a whirl.
They'd save a fortune on silly knickers.

Bit of a stretch isn't it! Mostly just blokes with dodgy prostates trying to maintain a bit of decency. Anyone with periods, a uterus etc. will need some kind of hygiene product?

Quite obviously a man say one. Obviously NOT a man says another.

but yet ye can always tell!!

Some posters say they can always tell

some posters say that they can tell sometimes

people differ

arethereanyleftatall · 20/02/2023 16:55

Wow. Modibody blocked me on Twitter - I didn't write anything particularly offensive - I'm surprised organisations are allowed to block customers. Well. Not that I will be a customer ever again. So I guess I've answered my own question.

over50andfab · 20/02/2023 17:45

I think their new campaign is aimed at us loving ourselves whoever we are. There is still a woman's section so it doesn't negate us, it's just now more inclusive and identifiable to others with a different section added. Trans men exist as do non binary people and might wish to be referred to as such.

I guess if someone says they are not going to buy from a shop again, then that shop might block them which they'd have a right to do.
