what does their non binary status have to do with anything?

It’s what makes they a relevant topic for the sex and gender board, as opposed to general politics or the style section.

Would you post a thread titled Bisexual John Smith in court soon? If not, why is this thread acceptable?

If it was a board discussing LGBTQIA2S++ people in the news, yes.

But this board is sex and gender discussions, so yes they’s non binary status is relevant.

Florissant · 16/02/2023 07:26

Brinton is accused (and there is video footage of the second theft) of stealing women's suitcases from airports. His lawyer said that none of the clothing has been recovered.

The amount of money involved is significant so, if found guilty of the charges, Brinton will be a felon.

And, yes. Brinton made his non-binary status a central point of his identity so it is relevant.

Florissant · 16/02/2023 07:26

Regarding the attempts to derail the thread, the scroll button is useful.

smileladiesplease · 16/02/2023 07:34

The killer of Rachel Nickell the bastard that is Robert Napper started his offending stealing womens clothes.

GrabbyGabby · 16/02/2023 07:38

So, do we think they would have stolen several suitcases full of womens clothing if they was not non binary?

I think theirs proclamation of non binariness is very relevant to the crime and the time.

ElonsMusky if the thrill is in the stealing, why is it only women’s clothes/suitcases he’s taken? Why not any men’s? Why hasn’t he been caught stealing groceries? Why are you so desperate to find an explanation other than the obvious?

Because he's ultra special and needs love and support and must not be punished, or have an accurate description of his crimes, in case it leads to more Literal Violence and Trans Genocide, I think...

How about so no one misgenders Sam and gets their posts deleted.

Why would Brinton’s former position be more or less relevant than Brinton’s gender identity?

DeanVolecapeAKAelderberry · 16/02/2023 07:51

Sam is one of those names that can be a man's or a woman's, so clarifying that this particular Sam is n-b is useful for anyone who has no idea who they are.

scratchedbymycat · 15/02/2023 23:53

What a totally weird post. This is the 'sex and gender discussions' section of MN. What do you think gets discussed here?

It is weird and just further proof of the absurdity of gender ideology that has been forced upon us. We're told to respect, acknowledge and always use the gender identity and pronouns of a person's choice. But now we're being criticised for acknowledging and reporting them accurately. What should have happened here then Elon? Should he have been addressed as a man/male? Or are you really suggesting his identity should just not be reported?

SunnieShine · 16/02/2023 07:54

AlisonDonut · 15/02/2023 20:55

Is 'non-binary' a status? How so?

No how. Its a complete nonsense.

ArabellaScott · 16/02/2023 07:56

There has been at least one case of pregnancy in a US jail resulting from their being mixed sex, as well as sexual assaults. Depends on the state, I believe, what the policy is. I wonder where Sam would go to prison if Sam is convicted?

This dude brought me back to Mayas essay in response to the Radical Nation hit piece. She said
"So too is the ability to mock and laugh (which is a means of saying that something isn’t right). None of this should be forbidden."

I was not in alignment with this, i dont think we can have it both ways, say that clothes are just clothes, and then ridicule gender non conforming people because for whatever reason they don't carry it off particularly well.

But those pictures of the delightful Sam being very pleased with theyself in stilettos and lipstick. My first reaction wasnt to snigger, my first reaction was to see they as a threat, someone i would not be comfortable being in close quarters with.

Is this prejudice speaking? Maybe. It is certainly something i actively monitor and challenge myself on. Or is it just the well honed spidey senses that have served me pretty well in keeping me safe from dangerous men?

Are we training women to ignore very clear and obvious danger signals in the name of diversity & inclusion?

smileladiesplease · 16/02/2023 08:03

Oh just seen 'rubbing her bean!'

Yeuk what a horrible expression

Helleofabore · 16/02/2023 08:09

I think the headline is standard in that it is still common to use ‘Man who’ or ‘Woman who’ in the title. They obviously cannot do that. So instead they use the chosen gender description.

They could have easily used ‘LGBTQ+ activist’ in the headline, or something similar because Brinton made this very much a prominent part of their profile.

EmpressaurusOfCats · 16/02/2023 08:09

Of course we are. There are the universities that have signs up in the ‘women’s’ toilets telling women students that if they see a man in there they have to ‘be kind’ and not challenge them.

suggestionsplease1 · 16/02/2023 08:19

These threads are totally pathetic.

Imagine being on another site with a board obsessed over an ethnicity or a sexuality where posters started thread after thread...

'Lesbian Gemma D in court for...'
"Lesbian Sarah C arrested over..'
'Lesbian Ann T convicted for the...'
'Lesbian Ella S sentenced to 10 years for..'

Bonkers that they can't though when man is a biological statement and this person is a man. Journalists have no problem reporting about what is happening to women in Afghanistan despite never having asked them whether they all 'identify as women'. They need to decid which meaning of the terma man and woman they are using.

So how should Brinton be addressed by the courts, press, this board? Perhaps you could explain what the rules and etiquette are regarding people who identify as non binary again as it's rather hard to keep up. Should we just be saying human?

Yes bicycles. Sex is unchanging, Brinton’s gender could change. They could be fluid in their gender identity and so a descriptor that is fact based would make more sense.

Because now they have used that headline, if Brinton did change gender in a few years and committed another theft, they would have to use ‘former non-binary’.

Well how about just using their name, is that really such a hard one to work out FFS 🙄

The difference is that identifying/acknowledging a woman is a lesbian has absolutely no impact on which prison that woman would be placed in.

A heterosexual woman would automatically be placed in a female prison.
A lesbian woman would automatically be placed in a female prison.
Their sexuality has absolutely no relevance to the determination of which single sex prison they would be assigned to.

Has that historically been used as a headline protocol?

I didn’t think so.

More often it was sex, age and crime, sometimes occupation mentioned in the headline.

Helleofabore · 16/02/2023 08:36

And yes, for an offense carrying a prison sentence, it is important to focus on the sex of the person and the nature of the prison this person could be placed in.
