The massive failure of the campaign against Hogwarts Legacy is another example of TRA self sabotage. The game itself is good and is going to do more massive sales now it is out, and the controversy helped give it great name recognition. Better than that it demonstrates that "transphobia" is a meaningless term which people increasingly ignore. It means that the gender fanatics attempt to control how people think is collapsing more and more.

Their latest TRA ploy is to call for a boycott of Twitch because it is showing Hogwarts Legacy adverts which again is going to fail and will further alienate people:

What makes this all more sweet is JKR is benefitting massively from this because TRAs are so bigoted and can't tolerate dissent. This is nothing to do with helping anyone "trans" this is just about "moral" purity. It is even more blatant now it has been revealed there is a "trans" charater in the game as well as there being no rules about whether you are a witch or wizard. Yes turns out a JKR based game doesn't care whether people call themselves witches or wizards or how they dress exactly as JKR states:
"Dress however you please.
Call yourself whatever you like."

Yes Hogwarts Legacy is more supportive of having an avatar which can gender non conform than most other games. Which makes sense because JKR doesn't care about that and the game reflects the universe she created.

The TRAs would never challenge the Call Of Duty franchise beloved by right wingers and where Activision the company behind it who have paid directly into Republican party coffers. No they only go after the game where a woman gets some of the profits, a woman who actively opposes the right and tried to stop Trump being elected in 2016.

If the TRAs hated the popularity of Hogwarts Legacy before it launched, they are really really going to hate how big it is going to be. They also can look forward Hogwarts {Rowling] Legacy 2 which their nonsense has helped make inevitable.

This is a good question. I can only assume their lives are very small. Walk a dog, go for a swim, play in the playground as a teenager like we used to. This inside, online life seems to exacerbate MH issues and make people utterly miserable.

I just don't understand the issue. If someone honestly cannot touch it because of the Witch Taint from being associated with JKR, then err, don't touch it.

I am quite amused at all the complaints about the trans character. The problem is that they have made the character obviously male, but had they made the character "pass" then no-one would have known they were trans...

It's obvious that trans people cover the complete gamut of human variation, like any other subset of human people. As long as a character isn't some kind of offensive stereotype then just, like, yay for representation?

DS1 came bounding downstairs to tell me all about the HL furore when I got in from work. He ‘educated himself’ last year and thinks the ideology doesn’t stand up to scrutiny, though he is kind to his friends. I don’t know what he’s been reading but he knows all about ‘MAPs’ too and isn’t buying that either.

I pre-ordered the Deluxe edition and am currently 10 hours deep into playing, as is my son.

I was ~~overwhelmingly excited~~ keen to play regardless, but now I get to play and have the smug sense of satisfaction that it's pissing the extremists off and supporting a public figure who has our backs.

As a gamer I spend some time on Discord, as do the Trans community. The majority of the Trans community not just on Discord but also on the internet in general are vulnerable people with mental health issues and a big percentage of them are teenagers - this is how they get sucked in. They use the internet as their social life and therefor spend hours in these Discord echo chambers being coddled and encouraged by other people. Reddit and Discord are particularly bad for being "safe spaces for the Trans community to say whatever they want" and it enables them to make violent threats and rant and rave in a way they would never get away with if they had a real life with a normal job. Of course it then starts to spill over into their daily life and you see it in education settings in particular where everyone is trying to be unique and edgy and cool in a very similar way that being alternative/goth/punk was - the difference being that the latter doesn't have the potential to severely damage your mental and physical health.

When you have an audience that doesn't only make you feel safe but also makes you feel invisible, and big corporations and the government lap it up like the complete fannys they are, that's why they bother and torture themselves over it. They know the Government, the schools, the legal system and their employers will back them and sack anyone else out of fear and they are right, because if I went into work and said any of this to anyone I would be sacked with immediate effect and probably reported to the police for discrimination.

Someone I was reading on Twitter said it was hilarious that the way she described the ordeal of covering the game made it sound like she was a war correspondent, rather than a game reviewer.

In some absolutely hilarious irony, I just read a thread about “fat phobia” in Harry Potter where…wait for it…the person advocating for a boycott of Rowling for her “transphobia” rages that surgeons are “now advocating for irreversible stomach amputation” for 13 year olds and “harmful weight loss drugs that maimed people when they were in wide usage.” Yes, I wonder if Rowling is at all concerned about irreversible and unnecessary surgery and drugs for minors?

It's funny because websites that are boycotting the game are deleting comments by gamers who make any reference to the game.

I know a guy who worked as a level designed on HL. He and his team worked really hard on this and I hope they enjoy the success of their project. This game is going to look great on their CVs.

Wow HL has broken another record as soon as it was open to everyone with a huge twitch stream. Thanks to the publicity from the Boycott I think JKR will have earned even more money than she might have done anyway. Sure it was always going to be big, but without all the extra publicity this might not have happened.

JKR will put her extra cash to good use for sure.

Criticism for the game includes the adding of a token trans character in response to JK Rowling's views. Which may appear to be a case of trying to say "look here's a trans character, that proves JK Rowling isn't transphobia".

The M to F trans-character's name is Sirona Ryan, a very masculine sounding name. Rowling has received criticism in the past for giving minority characters names such as Cho Chang and Shacklebolt. The actress who played Cho Chang in the movies received racist abuse as a result of the character's name.
