PM programme on now. Evan Davis says there will be an item where gamers discuss whether to boycott the new Hogwarts Legacy game.

As it's the BBC and "impartial", will they have on some of the people who don't game, don't even have a console, but are buying it anyway? (A fair few of these on threads here about hogwarts legacy)

I wonder.

The BBC is nowhere near impartial on this, it’s appalling. They do so many articles which basically read as an advert for being trans - “stunning and brave” etc.

Never seen a single article putting forward the gender critical point of view. 😐

allthemissingfucks · 02/02/2023 20:34

Agreed, I find the BBC astonishing bias on this matter. There was and is no balanced debate on the BBC. It's not a trusted fair news source.

Goldshelfie · 02/02/2023 21:25

Complained as well. I am also sick of this bias, and said as much!

AmigoDogs · 02/02/2023 21:37

Also complained.

Yes. I don't know what to say, I've complained so often and received copy paste responses, from someone who either did not read the complaint or didn't care. Neither option shows BBC in a good light, nor did the bias that forced me to send in a complaint in the first place. What a shit show

JustWaking · 03/02/2023 06:20

How is that tweet saying that it's troubling that JKR is still alive not malicious communications and arguably inciting violence?

How do they keep getting away with this whereas women are put through a whole police process for posting pictures of coloured ribbons attached to fences?

Do we need to start making more police complaints? Should we start inundating the police with the sheer amount of hate TRAs spew?

fedupofbuilders · 03/02/2023 06:24

My first ever complaint to the BBC
such bias is not acceptable

HagoftheNorth · 03/02/2023 06:55

interview repeated on Today this morning

MoltenLasagne · 03/02/2023 06:57

This is ridiculous. I know JKR tries to ignore most of the noise, but I really think she needs to get the lawyers involved when the national broadcaster is allowing her to be slandered like this without correction.

Startoftheyear2023 · 03/02/2023 07:10

@fedupofbuilders mine too.

HagoftheNorth · 03/02/2023 07:33

How have you complained - written?

Clymene · 03/02/2023 08:08

What do you mean? In what context?m

LizzieSiddal · 03/02/2023 08:31

As others have said this is happening far too often on BBC, Im fed up of complaining!

Is it worth collecting a dossier of complaints we’ve made to the BBC, over the years (if we can remember!) and presenting it to them to show how awful their support of women’s rights really is?

LizzieSiddal · 03/02/2023 08:34

The complaint which spring to mind for me is actually the same issue as here. A presenter on Start The Week allowed a man to accuse JKR of having “transphobic views”. The presenter did nothing to correct him. Lots of complaints, he did apologies and said he’d made an error.

But here we are AGAIN!

HagoftheNorth · 03/02/2023 08:43

Clemente it was on the Today programme around 6.30, sorry, didn’t get an exact time stamp.
The only context seems to be ‘JKR has transphobic views’, there doesn’t seem to be any other reason for this being included in a news programme - I don’t think it’s true, and anyway it’s not really news is it?!

There is another thread - link below - where the OP (👋 Catiette) has written a really thoughtful complaint letter to the BBC, which was dismissed without any consideration at all

HagoftheNorth · 03/02/2023 08:46

Lizzie, I agree, might be worth a separate thread

Clymene · 03/02/2023 09:15

Thanks @HagoftheNorth. Will have a listen on catch up. I've put in so many complaints to the BBC they probably have a special folder for me like Mrs Trellis of North Wales. I shall keep on keeping on though!

HagoftheNorth · 03/02/2023 09:16

Thank you born the complaints page I found said letters only, and there was no postal address immediately obvious - I was just gearing up to go looking, this is much better 😀

Boiledeggandtoast · 03/02/2023 11:16

I've complained too. It was a new low, even for Evan Davis who has form.

TheWitchesAreBackInTown · 02/02/2023 18:30

Lol. Kids being vilified. What planet is he from? They will be comparing notes and gameplay.

I think that depends on the age. DD is late teens and HP is not to be mentioned at school. Although she is buying the game, but won't tell anyone.

WifeOfTiresias · 03/02/2023 13:40

Just came on to see if there was a thread about this. Listened to this piece while driving yesterday and ended up shouting at the radio.

The piece from the start worked from the unchallenged assumption that the whole of society regards JKR as transphobic and the only question up for debate was if it was acceptable to "separate the art from the artist."Absolutely no balance whatsoever, just the opinions of two obvious TRAs with the only slight nod to the existence of other opinions being a throwaway remark by Evan. Davies that we should note that JKR doesn't herself think she is transphobic. Clearly no attempt was made to find speakers to put the other side of the debate.

News flash Evan, there are many, many people around the world who agree with JKR. This was one of the most blatantly unbalanced pieces of reporting I have heard in a long time and Evan really needs to be brought to account on this.

Shame on you BBC.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 03/02/2023 13:57

They pick female avatars in the games and start to believe they can do the same in real life too.

Yes I think this is a large part of it.

NeverTrustAPoliceman · 02/02/2023 17:20

I've never played a computer game in my life. Think I'll buy a few copies of this though.

It's £50 a copy, you must be in a very fortunate position to waste a couple hundred pounds at a time when lots of people are struggling to eat or pay bills.

Even if LGBT-supportive people do want to play this game, maybe it will be shared around on torrents or the pirate bay.

Ha ha ha!! How dare you decide what to spend your own money on, @NeverTrustAPoliceman !
