Sturgeon getting an absolute grilling on Channel 4 News

I should imagine the clip will be doing the rounds on twitter shortly if it's not already, but their Scotland correspondant Ciaran Jenkins did a really good job in a brief interview with her when she was on a tour of a TV studio today. Raised the issue of Katie Dolatowski, and got her quite rattled trying to get her to justify her comments about transphobia and racism. Should be on about 8:15/8:20ish if you want to watch it on C4+1

I wonder when politicians will learn not to call the people they expect to vote for them "racist". It's hardly a vote winner is it?

😂 I hope someone sends it to her.

The men in women's prisons is the bit that we re all talking about, but more of a worry is where the men will be the rest of the time.
In our changing rooms
In our showers
In our hospital wards.

No men should be in ANY women's spaces

Emotionalsupportviper · 31/01/2023 13:22

pattihews · 31/01/2023 11:23

So... there were more than 70,000 cases of rape reported to the police in 2021-2. Around 2,500 men were found guilty and jailed. Which means that there are thousands of men (with the number apparently growing year on year) walking around who have raped / sexually assaulted women but the case didn't proceed to court for whatever reason. And those are only the reported rapes.

Not only do we need to worry about the fact that those men are able to enter women's DV shelters, use rape crisis centres, enter women's loos and changing rooms but you're also suggesting that if they're convicted of fraud or burglary it would be perfectly safe to put them in prison with women.

Barking. Utterly barking.

No - you have misunderstood the post (or I have)

The poster is saying (as I understand it) that most men don't commit offences against women. We know this already - but in spite of this we have separate spaces for women because we know, too, that the minority of men who will hurt them pose a threat.

This is why we have those spaces and this is why they are needed.

I read it that the poster was saying that if you take NS's argument to its logical conclusion, we don't need separate prisons, but that that argument is rubbish because we obviously do.

If I've misinterpreted the post, I apologise, but I don't think I have.

Blister · 31/01/2023 13:30

96% of people who commit offences are men does not mean 96%of men commit offences. You've got your rage in a tizzy. No one is saying most of the offences commited are not by men. Irrespective of the crime or the tendency or the ability to commit said crime, women deserve single sex spaces.

Emotionalsupportviper · 31/01/2023 13:44

Even if no men ever sexually assaulted any women under any circumstances, women are still entitled to single sex spaces because we are entitled to privacy and dignity as well as safety.

Ha! Glee yes lots & lots of glee. I have been writing emails, letters (recorded, posted & hand delivered) & speaking with my SNP "representatives" for about 8 years now (dating based on how small I remember my kids being 🤷‍♀️). I have been ignored, dismissed & lied to.

I am no one, many many women have done the same as me & many very special ones have made their fight public. And many suffered greatly.

Finally finally the admission that maybe but no yes maybe that wasn't the question transwomen aren't actually women. Does Sturgeon now consider her own concerns about self ID of rapists "not valid"? Does she really think calling 80% (??) of her potential voters possible bigots was a great political move?

Did she realise that she could make Douglas Ross look really really competent & compassionate?!!

Anyway I don't think this has been posted - same short video but a wee text addition to clarify Sturgeon's position. 🤪🤣

I agree with him/her/it.

Sturgeon and her ilk have reframed the debate entirely.

GCs are debating the right of male prisonerss to be held in female prisons.

Sturgeon is saying that female* prisoners (ie, the verdant Isla) should be held in male prisons.

Nobody nowhere has ever seriously argued that female prisoners should be held in male prisoners.

Until this week.

*According to her.

ClaphamSouth · 31/01/2023 15:02

She's started a new trend though, Butchy. Just saw this chap wondering why Rose West was allowed in a women's prison 👀

Using Sturgeon's and the TWAW own logic, I can't understand why NS is objecting to the 💯 prime British woman beef that is Isla being incarcerated in a women's jail either. IW is correct here... if you believe trans women are women, then they belong in a women's jail.

What the fuck Rose West's housing situation, which was decided 30 years ago, has got to do with JKR though, is anyone's guess.

Ah I just remember a while ago that there was a transactivist with a similar handle who was erroneously taken into confidence by some women.

But telling they had to go back decades to find a handy Mad Bad and Dangerous female woman, when two Mad Bad and Dangerous male women turn up in the same week.

NicolaSturgeonsSOGIbottom · 31/01/2023 15:25

Plus RW had a male accomplice and as far as I can tell, no significant record of violence or intimidation towards other prisoners since incarceration (unlike say, ‘Tiffany’).

In other words, West, despite being a multiple murderer, exhibits female murderer offending patterns, not male murderer offending patterns.

Myra Hindley was reportedly prone to really intense friendships with one other inmate at a time, which caused issues, but again, the sort of issues that fit a female pattern of maladaptive behaviours.

The female estate is designed around with female behaviour patterns.

Fathering three kids with three women isn’t very female behaviour-like, and that’s before we even get to ‘Isla’s’ criminal behaviour.

Boiledbeetle · 31/01/2023 15:28

They'll be using Ruth Ellis as an example next.

Butchyrestingface · 31/01/2023 15:38

Not a word on NS's second in command, Janey Godley's , Twitter page about the debacle. But she's tweeted a trans rights flag instead. Because, #ItsAllAboutTheMenz.

Sounds about right. 🙄

😂

Do you think they know the names of the two women who are murdered by their partners every week in the UK?

Or every woman in the UK who’s ever been sexually assaulted or murdered by a man unknown to her?

Not to mention the children.

No. Of course not. Not only because they don’t care about female victims but mainly because there are SO MANY WOMEN AND CHILDREN killed by MEN that it’d be difficult to remember every single name.

So they need to FUCK OFF FOR EVER with RW et al.

Yep. Completely agree.

nilsmousehammer · 31/01/2023 16:07

'Oh women kill women toooooo'

Men are bigger, stronger, heavier, statistically a hell of a lot more violent, more aggressive, can strangle with bare hands, have penises with which to rape, and form 98% of all sex offenders.

Next stupid attempt to enable rapists?
