Women have been doing this since nobody would listen, no papers would report on it, and protests drew violent terrorist responses. (Some things never change).

The insults don't matter. The ages of the women don't matter. The crowd numbers don't really matter. It's useful and instructive to see how public awareness has grown and how public opinion is firmly on the side of feminist arguments.

What matters is that sex is immutable and women need sex-based rights for equity, and increasingly the courts and the media and decision makers are having to thrash out the details of this, and we are winning. Bit by tiny bit.

Onwards and upwards.

Gaystapo is ambiguous. What does it mean? I assumed it was a gay bloke protesting about the increasing authoritarianism in the "LGBT" organisations. Not how I would have worded it, but whatever.

None of the fringe cranks made any impact, because nobody would have known they were there if they hadn't tweeted about it. None of them called for violence against anyone.

Quite different from "decapitate terfs", which is a concrete threat, was made by a TRA in the midst of their movement and which they all thought was fine.

I used to go to left demos all the time and there would be two guys with placards saying North Korea should have the right to have nuclear weapons. That had absolutely nothing to do with the general character of the demonstrations.

This. There were always nutters and agents provocateur.

At CND marches there would be a gap before and after the Spartacist Alliance. Because their banner said ' Defend Russia - Save the Workers' Bomb '. Not very helpful albeit quite harmless. Unlike Mr Gaystapo.

There's a post in the Glasgow sub showing photos of both sides from yesterday, there is a very clear contrast between the age gap of each side when you see the faces.

Yeah student politics versus grown up real world politics.

Both the Glasgow and Scotland reddit subs are overwhelmingly in support of LGBT rights.

Ooh one photo.

There were plenty of younger people on the GC side. It looked much more diverse in terms of age and race than the TRA side, in fact.

But then I looked at numerous photos and video footage taken from throughout the day.

NicolaSturgeonsSOGIbottom · 06/02/2023 15:11

The terfy side definitely had fewer people with a different coloured hair dye either side of their centre partings.

Cheers for the non-sequitur, Pie Man.

I said the furry is getting a pasting. Sexism flourishing on Reddit, on the other hand, is not newsworthy.

LMAO! You do know the situation with the number of trans Reddit mods and how they crush dissent, right? Right?

It.was a.big deal a few years ago. They basically destroyed women-only boards.

What I am saying is that you are not the first and probably won't be the last....

Ok, thanks for the clarification. I suppose that so many people drawing the same conclusion must mean that there is fire....

FemaleAndLearning · 06/02/2023 15:22

Another sign no doubt from this article.

I report Pie now. Had enough of their nonsense, smears and outright lies.

I've never engaged with that screen id on the basis of its suffix alone. That doesn't even qualify as hiding in plain sight. There's not even a pretence at concealment being made as to who they are, and these are not people I'm about to interact with for one minute.

I've been following events in Glasgow without commenting as yet. It looked inspiring, kudos to the Mumsnetters who were there.

Following the groundswell of opinion against the Scottish GRA reform I got the sense that the atmosphere is somehow safer, as was the tone of the reporting. The media response to the Bryson fiasco really does seem to have positioned the emperor - if not starkers nonetheless resplendent in his fetching see-through leggings - in full sunlight for all to see.

The photographer who captured that image played a blinder. That one picture says everything people need to know.

Could be wishful thinking as we've seen many a false dawn before. But public anger does seem to be growing about the complete number that's been done on women by this toxic ideology.

KJK has the courage of ten. I salute her.

I was around when the GC sub was pulled.

Of course, the misogynistic incel subs advocating violence against women were still standing for a long time afterwards. As far as I know, they still are.

IwantToRetire · 06/02/2023 16:17

Really great to here from the women who were there. Sounds fantastic.

But such a shame that apart from the DM (again - sigh) most papers haven't bothered to report the substance of the event.

And not sure if it was reported on tv or radio.

And it is a great shame that the recordings of the event have the same sound issues as the live stream (just to say I have no idea how to do any of this) and wondered if anyone had a recording so that the speeches could be more widely shared.

Or maybe transcripts posted.

Would be so great to build on the momentum of the SNP stupidity and get more members of the public aware of how trans rights has been allowed to take away women's rights.

nilsmousehammer · 06/02/2023 16:37

And don't those speeches, in their clarity and purpose, show up starkly against Sturgeon's increasingly panicked burbling?

Waitwhat23 · 06/02/2023 00:03

Euan Yours is an activist for the Scottish Greens. Very vocal about how the Green Party in E&W are 'transphobic'. Has decided that there were actual Nazis at the event today because people with a wide range of political views attended a public, non ticketed event. Is doing outraged guilt by association while determinedly not condemning the 'decapitate terfs' sign at a recent protest. Seems to have no issue with the truly odious Picklebee or various other issues within the Scottish Green Party.

Russell Findlay is a Conservative MSP who was one of the MSP's to suggest amendments to the GRR bill to ensure safeguarding for women, particularly relating to the GRC process and convicted sexual offenders. The amendments were voted down. Whatever you think of his political views, it can't be denied that he's been stauch about the need to review the current prison policy in Scotland.

Was Euan named after the R4 programme?

BlackForestCake · 06/02/2023 18:34

I am wondering if some of the TRAs are still taking their puberty blockers, because they argue like children.

Our demo was much bigger! No it wasn't dear, here are the photographs. Yes it was! Yes it was! Anyway you're old and you smell!

You might have meant this tongue in cheek, but I'm very curious what kind of brain development is halted w/ puberty blockers. It could be vulnerable kids are at risk of being put on blockers, or they become immature as a result of the blockers. Likely both. I can't help but generalize when I look at TRAs...they come of as very 'failure to launch'.

NicolaSturgeonsSOGIbottom · 06/02/2023 18:48

I’m always struck how unhealthy their endocrine systems look. Lots of borderline moon faces and weight gain.

BlackForestCake · 06/02/2023 18:56

I was being facetious and don't want to minimise the harm done by blockers. The childish argumentation in the face of reality is really noticeable, though. Of course I don't really believe it's caused by blockers.

The unhealthy look is probably just lack of exercise and too much time spent playing video games and drinking pop.

Myotherpetisamouse · 06/02/2023 19:01

I’d be interested to know the effect of puberty blockers on brain development and how behaviour is affected long term.

Hopefully that data will start being collected by the NHS now that GIDS is going.

MargaritaPie seems to be trying to claim that all the women were elderly and the trans protesters were young.
My DD was the first speaker at the event after KJK. She is 33. And was a terf in her twenties too.
