I hope to.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 29/01/2023 07:45

I'm planning to, though I'm nervous about the counter protest

rogdmum · 29/01/2023 07:56

I’m going

Whatthechicken · 29/01/2023 08:05

Yes, I am going.

Scout2016 · 29/01/2023 08:28

Too far for me but my sister is planning to. She is nervous about the counter protests though, and will likely be be on her own, which makes me a bit nervous too.
Have discussed safety precautions like not wearing anything that identifies her as an attendee, but what an absolute disgrace it's come to that.

MrsJackRackham · 29/01/2023 08:31

I'm trying to juggle my shifts so I can go. I'll probably be on my own too, I could meet your sister so we both have a pal?

I can't make this one. I think you'll have a fantastic time.

Divorcingjack80 · 29/01/2023 08:35

I’m hoping to go too if I can. Won’t be bringing my daughter though, which I find really depressing.

Drop me a PM if you fancy a travelling buddy to find out if we might be in the same area. Are we going to have some kind of mumsnet signifier?

nilsmousehammer · 29/01/2023 08:43

The counter protest, passionately asserting the right of males to be a violent, sexual threat to women in prison if they want to. And to decapitate women who say no to men.

Yeah the press at this one will be very interesting!

Bravo to all the women attending this one.

PSNonsense · 29/01/2023 08:51

I'm working or else I would've been. Thanks to all attending!

BlueBooh · 29/01/2023 09:48

Can someone give me links for timings etc please. I want to fly up for the day.

BlueBooh · 29/01/2023 09:49

Ignore me sorry! Found it!

Scout2016 · 29/01/2023 09:56

@Divorcingjack80 I have been trying to think of one but other than carrying a massive salad or a toilet brush I'm out of ideas.

@MrsJackRackham thank you I appreciate that. Will sound her out 😊

BlueBooh · 29/01/2023 09:58

Anyone going from the southwest of England? I'm driving up there and back in a day in anyone wants to liftshare.

Whatthechicken · 29/01/2023 10:03

That is a long way @BlueBooh , make sure you stop and rest lots.

I think this will be a lot safer than any of the other events. I imagine a lot more media interest too.

I went to the Bristol one and although the police presence was poor and we were surrounded in a pub by TRAs I still felt safe and even more convinced I was on the right side of history.

There's no flights that suit the timings. I go to Scotland often but have only done it there and back in a day once beefier for the Independence Vote results!

Wanting to be home for history in the making! How wrong was I! Hahah

Although suppose I could try get Monday off, it depends if the others I'm coming with can too. So much to think about but so important to attend!

terryleather · 29/01/2023 10:22

I'm planning to be there - committing literal violence by my very presence in a public place along with other women.

Merrilydancing · 29/01/2023 10:22

Could someone let me know the time and place and hopefully I can make it.

BlueBooh · 29/01/2023 10:27

February
Glasgow Let Women Speak
Sunday 5th, 12pm-2pm

Whatthechicken · 29/01/2023 10:28

I’m coming from Yorkshire, I thought about doing it in one day…but seems like a stretch, so staying over, and I think it’s nice to join everyone in the pub afterwards. I think this event sounds important.

Not sounds important, I know it’s important - what I mean is really significant.

RoyalCorgi · 29/01/2023 10:31

Don't want to hijack this thread, I promise, but for people who can't make it to Glasgow on the Sunday, there's a conference in London on the Saturday that also looks worth going to. Helen Joyce and Kathleen Stock will be speaking.

I hope everyone attending has an amazing time

Suzexu · 29/01/2023 11:13

I’m in Glasgow & definitely going. It’ll be my first event that is going to be protested (by TRA’s & Furries 😂)…Am slightly nervous but women in Glasgow are not easy to intimidate and I’ll be with a group from the Scottish Feminist Network. Just say hello to any woman there & I’m sure they’ll be supportive 👍
