I've seen a lot of people complaining about the term GC. But I was advised to use it - about 4 years ago - because Terf had become a slur , @Helleofabore ?

I am not complaining about 'gender critical' Abhannmor, I have reported for the way it is used.

Marg uses it as a dehumanising label - by using it as a noun not as an adjective. The equivalent is the 'transes' or 'transgenders'. I know on other platforms many people do it, but it is not allowed here and I don't know if any regular posters would even use it if it was.

Marg uses 'gender criticals' or 'gender crits' and dehumanises people they don't agree with. They then laugh at things thrown or sprayed at women because to Marg they are not human, you can see this through their writing. If you describe people in non-human terms, violence against them is all too easy to dismiss.

This has been discussed with Marg for months now. Marg knows exactly what they are doing.

Helleofabore · 06/02/2023 09:32

To be clear there is a significant difference in using 'gender critical people' to 'gender criticals'. Just like using 'trans people' and not 'transes'.

DerekFaker · 06/02/2023 09:42

Marg also uses 'GCs'.

It's not the GC that's the issue, we all use that for short hand it's the dehumanising 'genders criticals' it's as bad as when some people call transpeople 'transgenders'.

It's used as an insult. And some posters have a propensity to insult so keep using it.

Boiledbeetle · 06/02/2023 09:45

ahh I see H for there first 😀

DerekFaker · 06/02/2023 10:04

Just in case it comes up (Willoughby has tweeted about it at least), the man holding the "Gaystapo' sign was told to take it down by other attendees.

LaughingPriest · 06/02/2023 10:12

I wouldn't care about Marg using "GCs" if they could even say what they think it means. Marg thinks it means anything Marg wants it to mean. It doesn't.

Marg is extremely muddled and has been given plenty of chances to actually just explain what they think. They can't even manage that. Not worth bothering with.

It's ridiculous how the TRAs are trying to blow this up into something, the sign was behind Kellie-Jay and she doesn't have eyes in the back of her head.

Ignoring Pie is absolutely the best choice.

I think that, were we to do so, casual readers may think that he has a point, if he goes unanswered. It's always easy to rebut his "points" and to link more up to date statistics and information, showing his bad faith writing.

ClaphamSouth · 06/02/2023 10:26

Feministwoman · 06/02/2023 02:31

Not sure why you are thanking me, I wouldn't want to draw attention to such a user name

The chances of the connotations being unknown to that user are nil, imho.

Yeah. The times when he's just having sly little dogs though can be safely ignored. Mind you, that's most of his posts.

Nehanda (love her!) confronted Mittens the Tuk Tuk Attacker.

*DIGS

Little dogs are great, sly or not.

BoreOfWhabylon · 06/02/2023 10:37

I report Pie now. Had enough of their nonsense, smears and outright lies.

SinnerBoy · 06/02/2023 10:37

Yes, sly digs which mostly miss!

Has Mittens the Tuk Tuk Warrior been identified yet?

Well quite. That is a very deliberate username choice. Says it all really.

Boiledbeetle · 06/02/2023 10:43

Syntact · 06/02/2023 10:14

It's ridiculous how the TRAs are trying to blow this up into something, the sign was behind Kellie-Jay and she doesn't have eyes in the back of her head.

😁and the TRAs certainly can't have an issue with that explanation surely?

Especially as unlike the TRA decapitate terfs sign wielding man, (who as can be seen from the many photos made it in a pub! With lots of other TRAs who had plenty of opportunity to get the sign removed). this MAN didn't appear to be with a group of people going to watch women speak, and was told to put his sign down/leave.

But yeah they'll throw it back at her for ever. KJK will forever be responsible for that man's sign in a public square, despite giving the politicians in the decapitate Terfs sign a completely free pass.

SinnerBoy · 06/02/2023 10:44

I have often wondered if "Pie" was deliberate, even though it's not capitalised.

Helleofabore · 06/02/2023 10:46

Sinnerboy It has been discussed widely before......

Am I remembering wrong then? I thought it certainly was capitalised at one point, some years ago. But could be misremembering!

Beside the point, really. Loath to give too much oxygen/attention.

Boiledbeetle · 06/02/2023 10:53

BoreOfWhabylon · 06/02/2023 10:37

I report Pie now. Had enough of their nonsense, smears and outright lies.

I've always chosen to not report the troublesome posters.

However.... The decapitate terfs sign was my limit.

I've pressed report quite a number of times since then.

I treat it like the pissed guy propping up the bar in the pub. You ignore the first couple of slurred comments/vague insults as you just want to enjoy your evening.
Then when pissed bloke doesn't get the required fawning response he ups the anti. At the point where people would be asking the landlord to sort him out or throw him out I press the button to report.

people who have experienced any sort of abusive relationships will recognise the spite and vitriol of a person losing their power over you.

The insults from some have become rather nasty in the last few weeks as they see the public wake up to the shit.

NicolaSturgeonsSOGIbottom · 06/02/2023 10:54

It was the T that piggybacked into the LGB and insisted it was one big LGBTQIA2S+++ rainbow hued borg so while that sign isn’t cool and I definitely do not approve of it, you can see how it came about. Gay was used as an umbrella term for decades (‘gay scene’ ‘gay pride’ ‘gay press’ ‘gay interest’ etc) and then Stonewall made the gay umbrella so big that it sheltered all the paedo-academics, furries. adultbabies & sissy fetishists under it.
That Lesbians were the first to sound the TQ alarm and that after women&girls, children-likely-to-grow-up-to-be-gay & adult gay men are the groups most affected can be obscured by that ruddy giant umbrella. That’s why LGB Alliance/Lesbian Strength/Gay Men’s Network are all so necessary.
Lesbians were first to the terfy table, then the straight mums (alerted by their lesbian mum friends via mum networks) then the free speech absolutists (some of whom happen to be gay) and now there are ever increasing numbers of gay men joining the public debate. When the backlash comes we need to stand firm with those who stood with us.
Clive and Dennis of The Queen’s Speech have talked about how hard it is going to be to repair the rupture that the TQ has caused. I’ll dig out the appropriate link to avoid getting it wrong but basically, they suspect that gay men who have taken up a strong position either way might be estranged from each other for many years, perhaps for a generation.

Wrt the "Gaystapo" sign, one of the women I was with reported it to the cops who were there, and as far as I'm aware others there asked him to remove it but he didn't but after awhile it disappeared - dunno if the guy left/or was made to leave.

Sounds like a random arsehole then?
(as opposed to the Decapitate Terfs arsehole who is part of their inner circle)

BoreOfWhabylon · 06/02/2023 10:59

That's interesting terryleather. I thought the police had announced that the meeting would be under close observation for evidence of hate crime.
