And the reports make it sound like the furries were just as big in number!

I thought it looked pretty even checking the webcam throughout the event.

I was there and the Let Women Speak side we're definitely the larger in number by far. There's video footage of someone wandering around the other side filming and you can see them moving about with ease. On our side people weren't dancing about like fools in their underwear, we were tightly packed together like sardines to hear the speakers. There wasn't room to move about.

Ooooh, I'm Mumsnet famous! 😁
(Been here years under various usernames)
It was a fabulous day.

Klex · 06/02/2023 07:19

Whoops posted too soon.

It was a fabulous day and really emotional hearing the women give their testimonies.

I wish I could speak of my experiences but it would put me at work and make life difficult there.

BezMills · 06/02/2023 07:26

Well done PP and the McWims.

I couldn't be there in person, but I followed the stream as much as possible and will watch the full thing today if it's online.

ILikeDungs · 06/02/2023 07:56

Got back from Glasgow late last night, flight delayed, and slept the sleep of the dead. But what a day! Still groggy but might post some photos in a bit.

DH estimated there were upwards to 1000 women

It’s perfectly fine to kink shame, actually. Some kinks SHOULD be shamed. Especially when people insist on engaging in them publically or in others’ spaces without consent.

I don’t need to like or accept or celebrate everything everyone does!

Well put.

I think this must have been taken early on. The TRA event started at 11 and ours scheduled for 12. It was about 12.20 before it really started. There was no stage (so speakers only visible for front rows - hogged by photographers at the beginning). There were many people up on the monuments.

FatSealSmugSoup · 06/02/2023 08:08

Another one for your playlist Pie - Anthony and the Johnson’s “for today I am a boy”.

Poor old @MargaritaPie, it must be a full time job for they coming on Mumsnet to tell off all us wimmins. Do we appreciate the effort & rapier sharp wit?

I might if I ever saw it!

I think that he's worth his weight in gold, as he shows the paucity of the TRA zealot's "arguments." Nothing but dishonest statistics and lightweight, fact free witterings.

WorthyOfRespectInADemonicCisCity · 06/02/2023 08:32

And as the above will probably get deleted I'll say it more politely (hopefully you will understand but if you want anything simplified just let me know)

Margaritapie You just post here and there simply to derail and stir shit up, you can never ever (as you are unable to) even answer the basic question "what does living as woman actually mean?" you imply posters here are racist and you don't properly engage, you just have the tactics similar to a troll ie plopping in just to derail or insult as above.

I for one am going to either stop rising/replying to you, or simply just repeat the question "please can you define how one lives as a woman" in reply to you and hopefully others will also take this tactic and you will get bored and leave as you are contributing nothing at all.

We need to stop indulging you as you're aren't engaging in debate, you are just here to merail.

True, but he's really really fucking me off Grin

SinnerBoy · 06/02/2023 08:34

True, but he's really really fucking me off

I think that's probably true of all of us!

WorthyOfRespectInADemonicCisCity · 06/02/2023 08:34

Admittedly I am so very disappointed that I didn't get to go yesterday, so I have very little patience today.

He was jeering the other day about what a tiny crowd she pulls.

Erm...awkward.

I just imagine him having to take his paws off to keep typing another prod. It washes over you after a while and he can just be tuned out.

And I'll repeat that: Posie's milkshake brings all the boys to the yard.

The overhead photo is timestamped (bottom right corner) and was taken at 12.53pm.

I'm glad people were entertained by the furry outfits, but aren't Gender Criticals the side who dress up in inflatable dinosaur outfits? Is that still a thing?

They don't make it a lifestyle though do they?

You aren't half serving up some weak sauce in this thread. It's painful to read.

These are small 🐄
and these are far away 🐄

DerekFaker · 06/02/2023 08:51

Apologies . Ignoring Pie is absolutely the best choice.

Helleofabore · 06/02/2023 08:58

For me, I think I am going to start reporting the use of 'gender criticals'. Because it really getting very clear that some posters are doing it to deliberately dehumanise others.

Awumminnscotland · 06/02/2023 09:06

It was brilliant. The turn out was about half of George Square. We were definitely the larger crowd.
It was amazing being there and listening to women speak.
Hopefully the photo has posted. It shows the whole top floor of a whetherspoon pub that many of us went back to afterwards. It was amazing speaking to so many women and sharing views. There's a video on twitter showing everyone singing womens rights are human rights but I'm rubbish and can't share it yet.
I now have a slight hangover and have to entertain my 6 yr old who I forgot was off school due to strike! Well worth it though!

Was Glinner really staying in the Furry Hotel or was that just a prank?

Abhannmor · 06/02/2023 09:17

I've seen a lot of people complaining about the term GC. But I was advised to use it - about 4 years ago - because Terf had become a slur , @Helleofabore ?

Rainbowshit · 06/02/2023 09:21

I find this article by The National extremely interesting. It looks pretty fairly balanced. Not something we see very often from The National. 🤔

www.thenational.scot/news/23300695.glasgow-gender-critical-rally-met-trans-activist-counter-protest/

They describe the rally as opposing the GRR bill not as anti trans. Are they seeing which way the wind is blowing? Have they have some steer from higher up in the SNP?
