@Ramblingnamechanger I agree view, their position is either twaw and NS has given way to bigotry or twanw. In the first instance, how can they work for a bigot. In the second, how can they justify supporting the GRRrrrrrrrr!

I mean, there's going to be no resignations obviously. I'm interested in seeing how they're going to twist the facts to justify themselves.

Chattycatty · 26/01/2023 16:49

Just read that's "she" is no longer going to be jailed in a women's prison. Wonder how long he'll keep up the farce now. Thankfully no one else has been harmed before this decision was made.

BlueBooh · 26/01/2023 16:51

So can they get the rest of them out too now please!!

I was raging at R4 this morning missing an open goal with Yvette Cooper who said very clearly "This dangerous rapist should not be in a woman's prison".

Why no follow up question on that? Where should this dangerous rapist be imprisoned? Because if self-ID is fine by Labour then there's no other place to house this dangerous rapist because by their standards they are entitled to be treated the same as a biological woman. Her answer displays the intellectual dishonesty at work by the TRA argument. A biological female imprisoned for sexual assaulting other biological women would go to a women's prison. There's no internal logic. It's fucking bullshit and she knows it.

Yes. So good to hear Yvette Cooper’s clear point of view, though.

I have heard several times today on the radio that there needs to be a balance between keeping the women in prison safe, and the rights of the TG ie MALE prisoner.

This shouldn’t even be a consideration. Safety first, ALWAYS. Who cares about the rights of a rapist?

And I’ve also heard that it needs to be taken into consideration the risk this RAPIST poses potentially to FEMALE prisoners. Are they having a sick joke here??? He already is a RISK. That’s why he needs to be in PRISON.

Is Nicola actually a GC feminist who has been deep deep deep undercover all of these years? I mean no one has done more for the cause than she has done this week…

I haven’t heard Lisa Nandy speak on today’s rapist story although listening to this short interview in 2020 and the fact she’s stayed very quiet today, I would have thought that’s because her view is they should be in a prison of the gender they chose (ie female).

Also interesting is the fact she flips the trans debate the interviewer is talking about (older adult men) to the trans debate of the distress of a younger girl who desperately wants to be a boy. The two groups we on these boards we are always talking about. Very distinct populations under the same umbrella. There’s communication going on between these two populations on social media. And people wonder why women are getting all shouty about this?

Well this conversation is going to remain in the news for another day

'...the public are struggling to understand how a rapist can be put into a female prison'
xeraco · 27/01/2023 06:14

I bet those leggings don't see the inside of a men's prison. I wonder how long it will be before a miraculous change of 'feels'occurs..

Boiledbeetle · 26/01/2023 13:35

What I'm hoping is that any very naive or deluded supporters of genderism will start to question some of their ideas.

You can see that happening here on the boards, the threads that have escaped into AIBU I think have helped so much. There's more names appearing within this board that seem genuinely shocked at what they've not seen, not realised.

Yes, I've seen lots of new names. It is very heartening that other women are finally waking up.
A bit depressing that they didnt see sooner, wrote us all off as transphobic, but the golden bridge is in mind. All welcome to cross it bar nicola who was repeatedly told this was a terrible idea. Worse , I believe she knew what the problems were and forged on regardless. She has damaged women by this. I cannot forgive that.

MintJulia · 27/01/2023 06:52

I think this will damage Nicola Sturgeon more than anything she has done up until now.

There are political arguments for and against Scottish independence, and various other policies but to introduce a law that puts a rapist in a women's prison is just plain stupid, and makes her a laughing stock.

Her ridiculous law is on the rocks within weeks, and it actually makes Westminster look sensible.

mrshoho · 27/01/2023 07:08

I'd like to ask Nicola Sturgeon to confirm how Isla Bryson's crime of rape will be recorded in official statistics. Will this be recorded as a Male or female crime? I read somewhere that police charge records as a woman/female. Now she's rightly been transferred out of the women's prison into I hope a male unit but yet this still goes down as a women's crime. What a mess.

MrsSquirrel · 27/01/2023 07:27

BBC News - Jailing of trans rapist Isla Bryson is 'shambles', says prison chief
www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-64419533

Rhona Hotchkiss, who ran Conton Vale until 201, said she would have refused to have Isla Bryson in the prison.

She told BBC Scotland: "It's unbalancing rights. They are not considering the rights of women."

Go Rhona!

nilsmousehammer · 27/01/2023 08:03

What rights of women?

What are women?

The whole fucking female half of the human race has been redefined and thoroughly fucked over to nurture the confused existential crisis (at best) of less than 1% of the other.

BabyStopCryin · 27/01/2023 08:04

Who is agreeing that he should go to a woman’s jail? I’d like to know who I’d trying to call the shots (and avoid like the plague if necessary)

Appalonia · 27/01/2023 08:10

The thing I can't understand is , why has THIS case got all the coverage and the outrage when this has been happening for YEARS? I know Karen White got some coverage, but not to this extent. I remember when we all thought Laurel Hubbard would peak the world, but now we've just got so many more TW in women's sports, so what's so different about this case and why has it created such a tipping point?

Obviously thrilled that it has, btw, especially watching the mealy mouthed politicians squirming...😂

Riverlee · 27/01/2023 08:11

RoyalCorgi · 26/01/2023 10:49

It's a tremendous piece of bad luck for Sturgeon that this rapist has been put in a women's prison so soon after the GRR bill passed, because it illustrates the problem so clearly. This man showed absolutely no signs of struggling with gender identity until he was charged with rape.

A lot of us have felt hacked off over the years that stories about rapists in women's prisons haven't peaked the public, and that people appear to be more angry about sport than about women prisoners. The Lia Thomas story peaked more people than Karen White.

And yet...here we are. The timing of this story, compared with the sheer outrageousness of it, is bringing the general public to the top of Mount Trans at a faster rate than anything else I've seen in the past five years.

That’s what I was thinking. This case has made a mockery of the Scottish bill, and highlights everything that is wrong with it.

Wanderingowl · 27/01/2023 08:43

BabyStopCryin · 27/01/2023 08:04

Who is agreeing that he should go to a woman’s jail? I’d like to know who I’d trying to call the shots (and avoid like the plague if necessary)

In Ireland, Amnesty fucking International have been arguing that the violent transwomen with a history of sexual crimes should be mixed with the women in the jail they are on the wing of. With self ID, they are legally women but are being kept strictly apart from the women. Which is reducing the time the women have out of their cells. But Amnesty is desperately concerned about the poor TWs and how awful it is for their mental health. So they are arguing that they should just have free access to the women.

RoyalCorgi · 27/01/2023 08:48

I wish a journalist would ask slippery Sturgeon one really simple, straightforward question: "Do you believe Isla Blair is a woman?"

Cut through the crap. Let us hear what she thinks.

nilsmousehammer · 27/01/2023 08:48

The TW concerned already have choosy choices all lined up.

Want to be in a women's prison? Ok, but it will involve very little time out of your cell.

Want lots of time out of your cell and association? Fine, that can be in a men's prison.

Which would you like?

Women get no choices btw. At all. Nowhere to identify to in order to get away from a situation wrecking their mental health and safety.

RoyalCorgi · 27/01/2023 08:48

Sorry, not Isla Blair! Isla Bryson.

IcakethereforeIam · 27/01/2023 09:52

Then after asking her about Isla Bryson she should be asked, one by one, if she believes if any of the other tw in women's jails is a woman. Then she should be asked to name any of the actual women locked up and vulnerable to these men.

JamSandle · 27/01/2023 09:58

Because they've made it abundantly cleae they don't value women's safety.

WarriorN · 27/01/2023 10:27

That comedian- pointing out that it was awful that menopause leave had been voted down whilst advocating for trans rights.

Which is it? Does sex matter or not?

Only women have menopause.

(Incidentally I noticed that "perimenopause disorder" had been noted on my medical notes after an hrt review last week. Two years ago I was desperately trying to work out via nhs websites and others if perimenopause was a recognised "thing" and could cause such hell.)
