How will Nicola explain this bigotry, given how totally convincing her argument was when interviewed on R4 PM yesterday?

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 26/01/2023 12:29

Douglas Ross putting pressure on Sturgeon @ FMQs right now. See live reporting on the BBC website.

CrossPurposes · 26/01/2023 12:30

I am beyond angry he was ever there.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 26/01/2023 12:32

"the yells of 'fascist bigot' had already started, and howls of 'you're driving people to dangerous surgery (to be able get into prison with women)'"

From the same 'folks' that actively encouraged teenage girls to cut their breasts off and be made sterile.........

This was also featured on Radio 4 this morning around 8.50am. One of the presenters introduced the story by saying “….transfer him or her to a female prison, you decide.” Something along those lines.

Straddling the fence between the bullshit and the facts. More 🌞Now it’s time for the BBC to get off the fence and use the FACTS.

Oh! I was quite impressed by the Today presenter who described him as "a man who identifies as a woman" in the section I heard.

SuperCarBlondy · 26/01/2023 12:34

God she's cynical as fuck isn't she? Now she is positioning herself as the saviour of the female prison population, when she's not stupid, and would have known and been told multiple times that this was a very very likely result of her selfish thoughtless misogynistic legislation.

nilsmousehammer · 26/01/2023 12:35

I'd love to know what tipped her from one extreme to the other this morning.

She's just agreed the bill doesn't and shouldn't work as it stands.

Yes, this will be interesting.

How is she going to justify removing a "woman" from a woman's jail? Because you know, TWAW - she said so herself. So either she accepts that TWAW is total bollocks, or she accepts that she's removed a woman from a woman's prison....and that can't be right, can it?

So. Which one is it Nicola?

Cherry60 · 26/01/2023 12:38

I heard Rhona Hotchkiss on LBC yesterday saying this case is the inevitable consequence of Sturgeons policies - true, but what about all the other inevitable consequences of trans activism and legislation in the UK? This is not some isolated anomaly, it's the result of blind acceptance of lies and misogyny, including that which has been written into law.

mrshoho · 26/01/2023 12:38

Are the other transwomen sitting in female prisons now going to be moved too?

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 26/01/2023 12:39

Where should this dangerous rapist be imprisoned? Because if self-ID is fine by Labour then there's no other place to house this dangerous rapist because by their standards they are entitled to be treated the same as a biological woman.

If we're so dead-set on accepting people as who they self-ID as, why should he be imprisoned at all, when he could just identify as a non-criminal? Is it really that much more absurd than the current state of affairs? It's just one or two rungs up on the exact same ladder.

Even if we join the likes of NS and completely ignore/deny the needs and fundamental rights of female prisoners to serve their sentences in safety, I think it needs to be pointed out that, if you are a male rapist and/or other sex-offender, targeting female victims, then being put into a female prison is not merely a potentially easier punishment, but it is no punishment at all: it is actually a REWARD for your crimes. It's the equivalent of sending a convicted career car thief to live at Brands Hatch, with unlimited access to the big key cabinet, as a 'punishment'.

HereComesMaleficent · 26/01/2023 12:44

Sturgeon will just hide behind the HMPPS risk assesment. Saying it was risk that facilitated the move and not the Bill and it's obvious flaws.

She will completely side step it.

It's one of the reasons I can work the way I do, risk assessments allow change/protection, and they are rarely questioned.

The offender's Oasys due to the nature of the offence will have to label him high risk to known and unknown women. Therefore can't be housed with women.

pattihews · 26/01/2023 12:47

I do hope the woman I'd been friends with ages, who cut all ties and has dissed me for the last three years because she thought I was hateful for suggesting that men would take advantage of self-ID to play the system, is reading all this and feeling stupid and guilty. I told you I was on the right side of history, Sally.

Gcfemale · 26/01/2023 12:47

@IcakethereforeIam your point about women modifying their behaviour to accommodate the potential added threat is absolutely spot on.

It also makes me very sad and angry that everyone goes on about how misgendering or being trans seems to cause trans people to automatically be suicidal and that is all they have to say to shut an argument down.

What about those women who stand in court (perhaps not literally) knowing that the person accused raped them and then to add insult to injury they have to hear their rapist referred to as a woman and 'she'. For me those are the most vulnerable women who are stunning and brave, are they not likely to suffer from suicidal thoughts from constant gas lighting?

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 26/01/2023 12:48

And let's not forget that when this person is released from prison, they can change their name and start afresh.

That she's just as hypocritical as every Tory Westminster politician she criticises?

Really useful thread describing SPS risk assessments and how they interact with GRCs (or don't).

Unless I have missed it, note how she has confirmed he is being moved from Cornton Vale woman's prison.

She hasn't confirmed he will not be imprisoned in any woman only prison 🫤

And let's not forget that when this person is released from prison, they can change their name and start afresh.

Not quite because this offender will be on the sex offender register for life. So they will due to reporting conditions have to notify of a name change which will link all the systems up.

If a SO fails to report a change of name or address or anything, there are custodial repercussions.

But any offender even without the trans issue, can come out of custody change their name by deed poll and theoretically start fresh. If on licence the probation officer will document the change of name, but the general public would be none the wiser I suppose.

My adult daughters have long labelled me a terf for calling out the dangers of self ID.

There's only one women's prison in Scotland, so it will be a male prison.

'Ms Sturgeon quoted the chief executive of Rape Crisis as saying she did not see how it was possible to have a rapist within a women's prison.

Ms Sturgeon added: "I agree with that statement and I think in general that statement is correct."'

You fucking liar, Nicola!!!

I'm presuming @kittensinthekitchen that as that is the only women's jail in Scotland he will have to be moved to a man's prison, and that he is not allowed to be transferred to an English women's prison.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.
