Continuation of Thread 2.

There is so much excellent information and so many active discussions on FWR that I wondered if it would be useful to have a thread to sort of "cross-fertilise" between them - airing little thoughts or vignettes that wouldn't themselves merit their own thread, to highlight other posts/threads of particular interest or to point to notable developments on fast-moving threads so that casual observers know where to look.

(For example, "the X thread has meandered onto a fascinating discussion of Y" or "Poster P's amazing analysis on thread Z might have relevance to the scenario in thread W" or "Has anybody noticed this recurring theme that keeps coming up??" or even "Random bloke asked me to smile while I was choosing onions, grr"- that sort of thing).

This was Jordan Peterson the other day.
The video clip is in this.
dailycaller.com/2023/02/02/jordan-peterson-joe-rogan-hospitals-children-gender-transition/

JP is a bit over the top, and I’d like to know where the good father is when there is a ‘devouring mother’ causing a child harm.

But it seems apt here, and the “mother” may be the physical father.

Excerpt from that article:
The psychologist argued the chances of having a transgender child are very slim, and thus there is a higher probability of them being the child of a “devouring mother” or parent. He pointed to Disney’s 20th Television President Karey Burke, who is a mother of transgender and pansexual children.

“I just thought mathematically right away, it’s like, the chance you have a trans kid is one in 3,000,” Peterson said. “That’s not a very high chance. And let’s say the chance that you have a pansexual kid is the same, whatever pansexual means. I don’t even know how to calculate those odds. But whatever that is, is rarer than trans, because no one ever even heard about it ’til five years ago. So the joint probability that you have a trans kid and a pansexual kid is one in 9 million.”

“The odds that you’re a pathological narcissist sacrificing your own children to the glorification of your compassion, is 8,999, 999 to one. So do you have a trans kid and a pansexual kid, or are you a devouring mother?” he continued. “Well, you can look at the odds and decide for yourself.”

In this case the ‘devouring mother is a man who has decided he is a woman.

I posted on that tweet responding to an arsehole who said that women are "primarily" to blame for this situation. How bloody dare he! In other news it's my first fully Terfy tweet. My Twitter life is about to change!

I'd like to honestly thank people here who've given me the courage - in this safe place - to be more vocal. ❤

Does anyone know anything about this?

Have seen this regarding the conference -

SinnerBoy · 04/02/2023 18:16

So, a woman has been attacked by a man and had her phone stolen; it's a violent robbery. What are the Police doing about it?

Waitwhat23 · 04/02/2023 18:26

From what I've seen on Twitter, the woman had her thumbs bent back and is bruised. Is currently calming down in a local pub and then getting a taxi home. No video and apparently no police action.

Winterborne74 · 05/02/2023 12:14

Have just come across this on Twitter. In Thailand apparently, but I’m lost for words:

twitter.com/drnovocalcords/status/1622181212327485441

What kind of man would feel comfortable using those?

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 05/02/2023 12:56

Hideous. And looking at the replies, found in quite a few places.

duc748 · 05/02/2023 13:04

The world is changing, and not in a good way.

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 05/02/2023 13:14

Australia has gone completely barking: www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/4736116-queensland-self-id-bill-is-loopier-than-scotland

Winterborne74 · 05/02/2023 13:32

Insane.

duc748 · 05/02/2023 13:58

Bloody hell. But once again, it seems, laws like this can be brought in with the general public largely unaware.

MmePoppySeedDefage · 05/02/2023 15:24

Maybe, in this one case, having a contrary tabloid press has helped the UK - without the Daily Mail, a lot of people would not be aware.

Plus of course most recently the lovely Isla happened along at just the right time.

SqueakyDinosaur · 05/02/2023 19:17

Oh, I've seen a few conspiracy theories about Isla from t'other side, saying the timing is just too convenient and it must all be a wicked plot from those dreadful womby women.

How far are they going with this? I mean are terfs responsible yet for him raping two women? Or have they not made us guilty that far back in time yet?

MmePoppySeedDefage · 05/02/2023 19:57

Hahaha. No one will believe that!

Twits.
The 'timing' is because of all the male rapists and sex offenders being allowed into U.K. women's jails, Bryson happened to be the one coinciding with the wretched Scottish bill making the story newsworthy. If he been six months earlier, he'd have just have been another entry in our 'this never happens' thread.

CyanCrystalViolet · 05/02/2023 23:29

Is DFAB the new AFAB? Not sure I’ve heard of ‘nonbinary people with vaginas’ either.

Boiledbeetle · 05/02/2023 23:50

ughhhh can't they just give it a rest?

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 06/02/2023 10:23

Happy 'Representation of the People Act (1918)' day.

On 6 February, 105 years ago, 8.5 million women in the UK won the vote (only those who were over 30, and who owned property or had a degree). It took another 10 years to get equal voting rights to men.

SinnerBoy · 06/02/2023 10:46

How far are they going with this? I mean are terfs responsible yet for him raping two women?

Well, of course! Don't you know that a gang of TERFs held him down over the two victims and forced Viagra down his throat?

Boiledbeetle · 06/02/2023 11:18

Silly me! Of course that's how it happened.

Thank you, as always, for the assist.😀

BellaAmorosa · 06/02/2023 19:24

Haven't rtft but I've just started a thread on the EHRC and section 23 orders and it occurred to me that this thread would be a better place to post this info.

www.equalityhumanrights.com/en/our-work/blogs/using-section-23-agreements-help-organisations-improve-their-approach-equality

I had never heard of these Orders. Could be a method of enforcing equality law compliance without the expense and stress of going to court. So many threads on this board are concerned with policies or problems in the workplace (pronouns, toilets, training courses, etc) and this could be an alternative route to a fair resolution. I'm not sure if their remit covers all equality legislation or just the EA2010. The language suggests yes in some places, but I haven't found anything that says so in terms.

The EHRC say:
We are a prescribed whistleblowing organisation, so if an employee has information that their employer is breaching equality law they can report their concerns to us.

From what I can see, all you have to do is provide credible evidence of possible breaches of EA2010 and the EHRC take it from there. Much less daunting than a Tribunal and you don't have to take on your own HR department personally or put your head above the parapet (unless it's such a small workforce that you would out yourself anyway, I suppose).

As I said above, I haven't rtft so apologies if someone else has already posted this.

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 06/02/2023 21:10

That looks useful. Bookmarked for future reference.
