Continuation of Thread 2.

There is so much excellent information and so many active discussions on FWR that I wondered if it would be useful to have a thread to sort of "cross-fertilise" between them - airing little thoughts or vignettes that wouldn't themselves merit their own thread, to highlight other posts/threads of particular interest or to point to notable developments on fast-moving threads so that casual observers know where to look.

(For example, "the X thread has meandered onto a fascinating discussion of Y" or "Poster P's amazing analysis on thread Z might have relevance to the scenario in thread W" or "Has anybody noticed this recurring theme that keeps coming up??" or even "Random bloke asked me to smile while I was choosing onions, grr"- that sort of thing).

That is just awful. And cynical, of course.

I don't know I'm not into gaming. But my sister in law is not going to be happy she's a Sims fan.

Just caught up with the last two weeks of Any Answers. Really disappointed that they took no callers on the GRA despite it being mentioned at the beginning of both programmes.

Instead they gave 20 minutes to the ramblings of homophobic Christians on the 21/1 episode. Ffs.

Anyway! I read the Finnish scientist's stuff on Twitter, then went to the thread here and then somewhere else, oh yes to the thread that all parents should read this where there was a link to a Heil article about a bloke called Oli who's detransitioning. I think Oli's a bit of a tool, to be honest. He's been "living as a woman" for six months after having plastic surgery and now he's blaming Harry Styles and Timothy Chamalette (fuck knows how you spell it but that looks nice though I'm 99% sure it's wrong) for making men like him think that they can be gender fluid and oh I lived as a woman for six months!"

Oli, you got some work done on your face and did some cosplay where you appeared to be on a red carpet doing drag race and that's all grand but if you're going to lay blame somewhere you are blaming the wrong people. What Styles and Timothy represent is that a man can be a man and flamboyant. He can wear pearls, a skirt, wear makeup and blah-di-blah-blah while still shagging a lot of very attractive women (Harry Styles being the famous shagger) and still be a man. They didn't transition because they didn't need to because they both seem to understand that they don't need to pretend to be a woman to be comfortable in their own "fluidity" for want of a better word. If that's all it took for young people to be rushing off for top surgeries, both adding or taking away breasts, then the seventies would have been all about transitioning and subsequent detransitioning because we had the divine David Bowie (RIP), to a lesser extent but still gloriously flamboyant) Freddie Mercury (RIP) and Marc Bowlan (RIP) and a whole lot of glam rock!

I think Oli is an influencer so I guess influencers got to influence. Arsehole.

And Finland needs to have a word with itself.

Oli is probably a bit disturbed and vulnerable in many ways in that I think he went on for surgery in an endless quest that never brought peace and got the idea of trans into the bargain.

Here is another flamboyant 60s 70s man.
‘Flower Power’ and ‘Make Love not War’ and at the time, even men having long hair. looked gender fluid while certainly celebrating males and females!

I see from the specific threads, and am only mentioning it here in case anyone isn't following them (I can't keep up with the pace and have to skip ahead from time to time) that Sturgeon now thinks that Isla fella is only pretending to be trans. Who could ever have seen something like that happening?

Since it's not working out to be the independence wedge issue she hoped for I wonder how quickly gender woo will be chucked under the bus.

Tom Felton? The person who played Draco. I think he didn't come out all guns blazing for JKR, but he didn't go wah wah twaw either. It was before Xmas but I can't remember when exactly. It probably had a thread.
