He was Joint Chief of Staff under Theresa May:

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2023/01/22/britain-becoming-sick-trans-debate-facts-can-cure/

"The legislation is part of a trend in which transgenderism and gender fluidity are normalised and made mainstream in culture. This is the kind of cultural context in which charities like Mermaids and even the NHS through its Tavistock clinic helped young people to make irreversible decisions to change their bodiess_. It is how governing bodies allow female sports to be ruined by trans athletes. It is how the BBC website joyfully writes up stories about children becoming drag queens, and cross-dressing men are invited to read to primary school pupils in schools and libraries.

It is how nobody stops to ask how many such men are moved to act in these ways through their own sexual desire. Autogynephilia, the feeling of sexual arousal some men feel as they pretend to be women, is according to some researchers behind many or even most cases of gender dysphoria among those born as men. It is legitimate to ask whether non-consenting women ought to be participants in such sexual fantasies."

We should respect the few people who are genuinely diagnosed as gender dysphoric. We may choose to recognise them, through tightly defined laws, by their acquired gender. But we should ignore the radical activists pushing for more and instead listen to women. A society that tolerates misogyny, violence and threats is suffering a sickness – and only a heavy dose of reality will cure us.

that is a fantastic article.

LizzieSiddal · 22/01/2023 22:34

Why the heck didn’t he put a stop to it when he was in his very powerful job!

inkjet · 22/01/2023 22:37

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen AGP mentioned in a mainstream media article before. I may well be wrong.

Autogynephilia, the feeling of sexual arousal some men feel as they pretend to be women, is according to some researchers behind many or even most cases of gender dysphoria among those born as men.

I feel this needs to be in every article about gender law reform, never mind most vulnerable etc.

I know imagine seeing

Autogynephilia, the feeling of sexual arousal some men feel as they pretend to be women, is according to some researchers behind many or even most cases of gender dysphoria among those born as men.

Appearing in a newspaper article affected all these years of being told to shut up about it.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 22/01/2023 22:45

What a relief to see this written in the mainstream press:
"Autogynephilia, the feeling of sexual arousal some men feel as they pretend to be women, is according to some researchers behind many or even most cases of gender dysphoria among those born as men. It is legitimate to ask whether non-consenting women ought to be participants in such sexual fantasies"

And as LizzieSiddal asks - why didn't the tories put a stop to this?

It's brilliant to see so many people (especially men) finally confronting what women have been talking about for years - the threats, violence, sexual threats, undermining safeguarding, outright lies and complete dismissal of over 50% of the population.

FigRollsAlly · 22/01/2023 22:53

TRAs have been very keen to shout “Transphobia!” when this is mentioned (look how posters here have been deleted for it) as they know this sort of info needs to go under the radar. It’s quite possible that Nick Timothy and Theresa May were mislead on this in the past. Mind you, if they had half a brain they should have connected this with the fact that Stonewall put cross dressers under the trans umbrella.

Sparklybutold · 22/01/2023 22:56

Anyone post up the non paywall version?

AutumnCrow · 22/01/2023 23:03

Does he explain why the fuck he didn't stop his prime minister Theresa May being radicalised by some of her own MPs? (Miller, Mordaunt, Blunt etc.) (And Stonewall of course.)

He have must have seen the political damage coming down the pipe?

Or is this all a face-saving retrospective performance?

LizzieSiddal · 22/01/2023 23:04

@MrsOvertonsWindow - why didn't the tories put a stop to this?

It just makes me so angry that women are fighting like mad to stop this nonsense whilst those in power are only just admitting to the shit show!

ScrollingLeaves · 22/01/2023 23:06

LK1972 · 22/01/2023 23:11

Gosh, isn't it a good feeling being able to write this on MN without deletion?

'Autogynephilia, the feeling of sexual arousal some men feel as they pretend to be women, is according to some researchers behind many or even most cases of gender dysphoria among those born as men.'

Feels like a big breakthrough that someone like this is speaking out with a really clear understanding of the issues.

Mollyollydolly · 22/01/2023 23:19

I think he's a Mumsnetter reading that. Wonder if his opinion has changed in the last few years. Wonder if he was 'be kind' when he worked for May.

Fenlandia · 22/01/2023 23:25

The paragraph various PPs are quoting is going to have a few Telegraph readers spluttering into their porridge tomorrow morning!

IwantToRetire · 22/01/2023 23:25

Second that comment re mumsnet.

I am sure he was fully on board with TM's we must be kind plans.

then the consultation happened, and then mumsnet exploded.

Let's face it mumsnet has manged to cover a far wider range of issues around this (and other things) that many campaign groups.

Rightsraptor · 22/01/2023 23:25

It's a really good article (I subscribe - free for 3 months or something) but can't share for free.

It just seems amazing to read something like that, all those plain words, no pussyfooting around, no worry about fragile egos.

IwantToRetire · 22/01/2023 23:27

If you go to archive.pph and put in the article link, you will find someone has added it to the library of articles.

Pootleplum · 22/01/2023 23:27

It's a brilliant article. One of the best explainers of the horror of self ID I've ever read (and I read a lot about this).

Which paragraph? This paragraph😁

Autogynephilia, the feeling of sexual arousal some men feel as they pretend to be women, is according to some researchers behind many or even most cases of gender dysphoria among those born as men.

Ah yes thank you. That's the paragraph!

Why the heck didn’t he put a stop to it when he was in his very powerful job!

Giving him the benefit of the doubt maybe he just didn't know back then and has since been on a mountainous journey.

A cynical answer would be that it wasn't in his interest or politically expedient back when he was JCoS.

I'm prepared to forgive him purely for writing and publishing this paragraph

Autogynephilia, the feeling of sexual arousal some men feel as they pretend to be women, is according to some researchers behind many or even most cases of gender dysphoria among those born as men.

IcakedefargeIam · 23/01/2023 00:39

All those 'be kind' types waking up to what they're being kind to!

Hey, SS and EI, this your 'girl' mode is it?

Do you think we can put it up in biglys, or would MNHQ have conniptions?
