Gave me a laugh over my coffee anyway 😆 does he remind anyone else of arguments with their little brother? ‘You’re going to lose. Why are you hitting yourself’ etc 😂

Interesting he has never ever once engaged with any of the thousands of points as to why gender ideology is indefensible at best and harmful at worst, it’s always just ‘You’re going to lose… tiny minority… section 28’

Wouldn't be surprised if OJ is one of the helpful contributers who pop up on these threads to tells us where we are wrong.

I've not read the whole thread, so apologies if this is already posted here. His nasty little rant has been given the irreverent State Media treatment it deserves.

Oh dear. I feel rebuked, to the same degree I feel rebuked when my cat mentions that I am five minutes late with his supper.

But on a positive note, I am happy to be remembered as someone who stood up for women, for the equality of fifty percent of the worlds population, for the dignity of all women and girls and our right to live free from the fear of abuse and intimidation at the hands of men. So at least I have something positive, life affirming and beneficial to the future of humankind to mark my short sojourn on this planet.

Unlike Owen, who will only be remembered as a squeaky little voice in the wilderness, signifying nothing.

I don't think that any of them are quite shrieky enough.

Cuppasoupmonster · 20/01/2023 11:40

Just listened to the Andrew Doyle interview, my god! OJ isn’t even pretending he listens to others any more is he?

He comes across as vaguely psychotic.

I wonder if he really hates women so much for the simple reason that he can't procreate without one. Is that that what lies underneath it all?

Anyway, he's not talking to me, I categorically do not hate trans people or wish them out of existence Hmm

Hmm. I think there are some potential candidates!

I think he’s just your typical white able bodied middle class man, displaying those behaviours - tantrumming when people disagree, using ever increasing anger and aggression when they don’t, especially when they’re women of course. His sexuality changes none of this although he thinks it makes what he has to say more palatable and less misogynistic.

I mean he’s never had a ‘real’ job - he went straight from middle class school to university to think tank to media. He has no idea how ‘average’ people live, but loves to boss them around.

OP posts:
JustStopOilyPoshKids · 20/01/2023 11:52

I don't get how OJ goes at the beginning "to all the confused people... to the ones who have concerns, I'm not talking to you" Then lashes out in exactly the same way these blokes do when any woman asks a reasonable question or raises a concern re this on social media.

Actually I do get it. It is his moment of truth in the video. He literally isn't talking to people with doubts/ concerns. He's refusing to engage in any meaningful discussion of conflicts of rights.

MassiveWordSalad · 20/01/2023 11:55

Yes agreed @Cuppasoupmonster

I just wonder where his utter zealotry comes from since he is not trans himself and has no skin in the game, as it were.

nauticant · 20/01/2023 12:02

I posted the Andrew Doyle interview of Owen Jones (on a satirical/current affairs Radio 4 programme) last night but realise that I gave the wrong time. It's here and starts around 6;40:

I think it’s simply the disagreement - ‘how dare you women disagree with me’ - and the messiah complex he gets from feeling like he’s ‘representing the vulnerable’.

He's high on his own self righteousness.

This!

There is something ineffably wrong in his demeanour. His whole affect, body language, facial expression, tone of voice is somehow flattened, focussed, weird.

If he were mine I would be asking him to step back and get some serious help. He would be a constant worry to me.

ArabellaScott · 20/01/2023 12:18

Yes, Samphire. As I said upthread, fighting for a cause can be a good, noble and healthy thing to do. But he's not fighting for anything, he's just ranting furiously at people, telling them they're going to lose and be ostracised, judged, etc. It's sheer raging defensiveness.

What is your vision, OJ? Mixed sex spaces everywhere? Women smilingly accepting of all male wishes, wants, desires and needs, never complaining?

ArabellaScott · 20/01/2023 12:22

Try to write a positive, uplifting speech, Owen. Show us in detail what you imagine happening?

In this genderist utopia, what will we see?

Male doctors identifying as women and being allowed to carry out 'intimate care' on women? Males applying for posts previously reserved for females, running rape survivor centres? Males being placed in a woman's prison, despite a history of violence and sexual assaults? Children being given 'affirmation' of gender dysphoria, allowed to legally change sex, given puberty blockers, and hormones and surgery from age 16?

All of these things are already happening, supported by the NHS, Rape Crisis, the MoJ, and NHS Scotland, respectively. So why are you so angry that women are complaining?

Cuppasoupmonster · 20/01/2023 12:23

He’s done another video on Instagram talking about how we all have a male or female internal monologue 🥱 mine is currently telling me to wash up and do the laundry so I’m guessing it’s my female voice? 🙄

OP posts:
Abccde · 20/01/2023 12:31

Is conditions not accepting enough for him to be her true self?

Would impact the career too much?

So gets angrier and angrier, especially at women.

Him and LRM are too peas in a pod - angry men but not normal levels of anger.

If you are female and find yourself in the company of either of these 2 men, and there is no one else around, please just get the hell out of there and don't mention this issue.

Cuppasoupmonster · 20/01/2023 12:45

Haha the video is so patronising, he may as well be speaking down to the camera on slightly bended knees.

OP posts:
Cuppasoupmonster · 20/01/2023 12:52

Ok the entire new video is about ‘accepting the existence of trans people’ with trans people ‘feeling like they’re the opposite sex’. Okay, I can accept that even if I disagree with it because I don’t have a ‘gender identity’ and therefore how can I understand it? I’m just a woman, I don’t ‘identify’ as one.

So, Owen - what if we accept this premise but simply disagree that trans ‘feelings’ automatically trump the rights of women to have exclusively same sex facilities, win at their own sport and hold positions designed to further female empowerment? What then?

Its like he’s reading from the Penguin book of trans ideology 😂

OP posts:
RoyalCorgi · 20/01/2023 12:55

Why is this issue so important to gay men like Talcum and LRM? I can see why some heterosexual men buy into it - for a certain kind of misogynistic straight man, then of course men should be allowed into women's prisons, women's changing rooms etc. After all, anything that enables predatory straight men to have access to female victims probably sounds just the ticket.

But what do gay men get out of it? They're not interested in women sexually, and to some extent (quite a big extent) trans ideology is a threat to gay identity. It redefines same-sex attraction as same-gender attraction, undermining years of campaigning by gays and lesbians for the right for same-sex attraction to be recognised in law. Not forgetting the way that some effeminate boys are being redefined by their parents as "trans," a phenomenon I would find highly disturbing if I was a gay man. So why is it so important to people like OJ that women are forced to admit men into their female-only spaces?

Cuppasoupmonster · 20/01/2023 12:56

Because gay men are just as likely to be misogynistic as straight men. They’re men, bottom line. It might not manifest as much in violence or sexual intimidation, but that undercurrent of disdain and superiority is still there. They’re men.

Mines telling me to stop reading mumsnet and go for a half hour shit then I need to unblock the outside drain, then wash the dishes.

So I'm obviously female, male, male, female? Or just a lazy cow with a knackered digestive system and a broken drain cover that keeps letting all the crap in to block it?

We all have an internal monologue, but you stupid little boy Owen it relates to what's going on in our individual lives you Muppet!

NecessaryScene · 20/01/2023 12:56

But what do gay men get out of it?

A chance to role play something that sort of looks like the fight for gay rights that they were too young to have had a chance to take part in.

Exactly. Kellie-Jay goes through several of these scenarios in her amazing response video linked below. She also challenges him to a debate, that we all know he won't do even offering a thousand pounds to any charity of his choice.

You’ve hit the nail on the head! It reminds me of Boomers going on about the war that they were never part of. Owen is also obsessed with Its a
Sin - not in just a ‘hey, great program, worth a watch’ way but seems fixated on it, saying we will see a similar series about trans people in future. Now I’m no biologist ( 😉) but I cannot imagine any way in which a life threatening illness that only affects trans people could manifest, bar there being some incredibly serious side effects to cross sex hormones that we currently don’t know about..?
