Gripping stuff. Unfortunately I've missed the 1st 30 minutes, and I'm hoping I can catch up.

And now Ben Bradshaw also defends LRM and his own heckling as "calling out transphobia" ...but doesn't say what that was?

Bradshaw, no surprise to see him weighing in, too. Of course he can't say what it was, because there was none and they both know it.

It's so like the JKR thing though because no one ever actually says what it is that's transphobic. So you're left with the sense that it's having any opinion at all.

ArabellaScott · 18/01/2023 15:38

Fucking hell. A woman says

'No women should have to deal with male aggression/abuse at work'

And the response is

'We won't stop calling out transphobia'.

I find that fucking chilling.

It's witch hunting, it's 'know your place', it's open misogyny.

AutumnCrow · 18/01/2023 15:45

At least the witch hunters are out in plain sight now.

'We won't stop calling out transphobia'. = we will not stop bullying women who stand up for themselves.

As I said on another thread, these loony Righteous swivel-eyed zealots are really frightening.

MorvenOfMalvern · 18/01/2023 16:06

When you read some of the responses to women voicing their concerns, it's like they're being replied to by robots.

Tootsweets23 · 18/01/2023 16:10

Labour's gone from alienating the Jewish population under Corbyn to women under Starmer. Delightful.

I'm listening to it while making soup and I'm disgusted by all these people acting like there are no conflicts with women's rights and child safeguarding. Women have already been raped due to this nonsense. Children have been harmed for life.

It's just vile

And it's not just the response, it's the way he shouted and bawled at her, whilst pointing his finger. If you point at someone on the Tube, you may be arrested for assault.

It's the pointing finger that pushed me over the edge more than his shouting to be honest. Probably as for me that was always the indicator that violence was about to occur. Shouting on its own, not great but once the finger comes into play that's losing control on a different level to me.

The fact that he couldn't see how his tweet which had the finger pointing and shouting right there at the start, and just autoplays on everyone's quote tweets, was going to come across. And the amplification of the horror of it was just mind blowing.

Some other footage from the same debate, I think:

Ah , Jess Phillips, as useful as a chocolate teapot.

OP posts:
WomenR · 18/01/2023 20:53

Ah Jess Phillips! So she realised that her sniggering while a woman MP, Rosie Duffield, was being bullied didn’t look good. Now she’s on damage control. I don’t know whether to laugh at her or be impressed by her self-serving political adroitness. Are you reading this Jess? Lots of women are.

MorvenOfMalvern · 18/01/2023 21:13

I find it odd that she felt the need to be coy about which male MPs it was heckling. Who benefits?

I would have a lot more respect for KS and the Labour Party if those who behaved badly were properly identified and action taken. As they would be in any other workplace.

It does seem like there is a disconnect somewhere there.

ResisterRex · 18/01/2023 22:12

What a risible, cowardly, self-serving performance from Jess there.

I detected some internalised misogyny as well: "women heckle, I heckle!!" OOOOHHH well done Jess!! Ya just like one of the lads!! Hmm

Does anyone else just find her awful?

OP posts:
Helleofabore · 18/01/2023 22:32

I just saw a tweet about Karin Smith and it used the term ‘barracking’. I was most confused until I realised she was NOT saying that men were ‘cheering on’ the women discussing their sex based rights.

Obviously words take on different meanings in different countries. I am glad I looked it up though because it completely changed the meaning of what she was saying.

To me, combining that with the footage of him saying that he'd fight in the streets, I get the idea that he wants to join the trans zealots in beating women up. Seriously. Labour need to get rid of him, but Starmer and Thornberry have come down on the side of Sturgeon, with Thornberry essentially denying that he was abusing her.

NoWordForFluffy · 19/01/2023 08:22

Thornberry must think we're all idiots, bearing in mind we can all watch it for ourselves. But then, she also thinks that men can have a cervix, so maybe it's her who's the idiot?
