I've seen some posts on Twitter from profiles claiming to be 'Trans-Age' i.e they identify with a different age...

What's baffling to me is the disbelief at this and the laughter.

Being trans GENDER is EXACTLY the same and just as ridiculous

Is anyone else surprised that 'Adele' just happens to be transgender as well as transage? Or is it just my cynical mind jumping to the conclusion that this movement is going to be driven by middle aged men who suddenly discover that inside they're really and truly a little girl? ( While in the real world their wife is looking after their real children)

Looking forward to Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson loudly proclaiming their support for this marginalized, oppressed and misunderstood minority.

There is absolutely no good reason not to accept and validate "transage" if we do the same for people who want to identify as the opposite sex and claim their rights. The same for trans-race, trans-disabled, etc. None of them are underpinned by any evidence at all - if they were we could test for people who were somehow "really" not their actual sex/age/ethnicity etc., but a different one, and self-ID wouldn't be thing. It is all, by definition, made up. What's more, age and race are spectrums, which we're always being told sex is as some kind of gotcha. There is arguably more justification in being trans-age than trans-sex/gender, according to the trans lobby's own criteria.

I'm really hoping this stuff will help the hard of thinking to finally work it out, especially the ones in power, and get everything "trans" out of policy and law. It's simply erroneous belief and in some cases body modification.

If you're identifying as a younger age, at least you've at one time been that age.

So if I tell employers I'm 21 will they give me a job? Because ageism at work sucks! Try getting an office job at 55 when the person interviewing you is 30.

And yes much like gender, pretty much everyone is age non-conforming or doesn't identify as their age. I mean who does identify as their exact age - it wouldn't mean anything. Your age is just how many times you flew around the Sun along with attendant physical changes. People have been modifying their bodies to look younger (or try to) for decades or more and no one has called them transage or thought that this somehow meant they were "really" a different age. Maybe the likes of Joan Rivers and Pete Burns will now be appropriated by the "trans-age" movement and retrospectively transed

I reckon saying she's transgender too is actually a clever rouse to get transgender people on side and avoid being taken down by them. I think Adele is more likely a gender sceptic (man or woman) who's mounting a campaign that will ultimately expose the craziness of saying your can change sex any more than your can change age.

At least they're recognising it as a mental illness and (as quoted by @sobriquet) need psychiatric help. I mean, it sounds like they know they're not a different age. If only the same logic was applied by transgender people, there wouldn't be such an issue around women's rights and child safeguarding.

Can you transage both ways at the same time? Older, to get my pension early AND younger so I can go back to Reception and play with the play dough?

I really hope and believe that there aren't many people out there (the Emma Watson/Billy Bragg/Jameela Jamil types) who will really and truly get on board with saying that adult men with child sex offence records really are e.g. 6-year-olds and must be allowed on children's hospital wards, in children's sports competitions, scout camp etc. Even though they've said they think exactly that should happen to women, surely they'd bridle at a free charter for paedophiles and it might help them to wake up? Or am I hopelessly naive?
