Continuation of Thread 1

There is so much excellent information and so many active discussions on FWR that I wondered if it would be useful to have a thread to sort of "cross-fertilise" between them - airing little thoughts or vignettes that wouldn't themselves merit their own thread, to highlight other posts/threads of particular interest or to point to notable developments on fast-moving threads so that casual observers know where to look.

(For example, "the X thread has meandered onto a fascinating discussion of Y" or "Poster P's amazing analysis on thread Z might have relevance to the scenario in thread W" or even "Random bloke asked me to smile while I was choosing onions, grr"- that sort of thing).

So the Democrats have been captured just like the Labour Party and Greens in the UK? Madness.

You see? Anybody who insists on some modicum of adherence to material reality whilst also having even a vaguely left-ish outlook, is basically politically homeless.

Biden invited Girl Mulvaney to the White House.

Dotellhimpike · 27/12/2022 16:23

Biden's Attorney General had a father who protested the rape of his daughter in a school bathroom by a trans identifying pupil, labelled a domestic terrorist because he (the father) had the temerity to stand up at a school board meeting and demand answers.

That case gives me the horrors because the reaction - transfer the boy to a different school where he assaulted another girl - is so simliar to the way the Catholic church in Ireland (and probably elsewhere) dealt with child abuse for decades. Victims are never as important as male libido and male social status. Or something.

OmiOmy · 27/12/2022 16:51

Not sure if this has been posted yet.

47% of trans identifying men in federal prisons in the US are in for sex crimes. And they house them on a case by case basis. AND, trans prisoners have more rights in prisons.

James Lankford Questions Federal Bureau of Prisons Director About Transgender Inmates

The whole thing is worth watching but he starts asking about transgender inmates at 7 mins in.

It's an inescapable parallel, isn't it?

Politically homeless, yes, it looks like we are. I'm certainly never voting for anyone who supports this bollix.

The figures are
1427 transgender prisoners
72% of which were biologically male = 1027.44 men
47% of which were in for sex crimes = 483 men

483 men identifying as women in the Bureau Prison Care system.

And they could technically all end up in the women's prisons, I mean why not anything goes right

OmiOmy · 27/12/2022 17:18

483 men identifying as women in the Bureau Prison Care system.

483 men incarcerated for sex crimes.

OmiOmy · 27/12/2022 17:19

And that's just in federal prisons, not state and not county.

Boiledbeetle · 27/12/2022 17:20

OmiOmy · 27/12/2022 17:18

483 men identifying as women in the Bureau Prison Care system.

Thank you for the correction I knew I'd bugger it up somewhere

OmiOmy · 27/12/2022 17:21

OmiOmy · 27/12/2022 17:22

I buggered it up too.

Boiledbeetle · 27/12/2022 17:23

And the final tally is...

483 men identifying as women incarcerated for sex crimes

And that's just in federal prisons, not state and not county.

OmiOmy · 27/12/2022 17:26

47%. That's more than the stats FPFW have, right, for here? Although, I bet it has increased since then and it doesn't include those with GRCs anyway

Boiledbeetle · 27/12/2022 17:29

I'm not sure, but oh what a surprise bad people, bad men mainly, have found a loop hole in the law that allows them to do the crime and then do their time right alongside more potential victims of their crime. Who would have thunk it.

duc748 · 27/12/2022 17:35

What is a surprise is that police, courts, prisons, the criminal justice system as a whole, all seem to be OK with it too.

OmiOmy · 27/12/2022 17:39

Trans identifying prisoners can choose to shower separately but the same rights are not given to the rest of the prison population.

That new Director did not look happy when Lankford sought clarification about different rights.

What is a surprise is that police, courts, prisons, the criminal justice system as a whole, all seem to be OK with it too.

The American prison system seems to be designed to brutalise and dehumanise anyone imprisoned. I remember an article in the Guardian, about 10 years ago, which said that it's estimated that one in five male prisoners are raped, often on a daily basis. Very little is done.

Perhaps that explains it? Well, loads of men get raped, so fuck if a few women do, to?

You know, rather than trying to protect prisoners of both sexes. But at least, until recently, women could expect not to be raped in prisons.

Boiledbeetle · 27/12/2022 17:48

You know it's the federal prisons. There is nearly 1500 transgender prisoners in their estate alone, so fuck it why don't they just say

"Enough. Bit radical this we know but we'll just build a third space a whole new sodding prison. They can't complain there will be men and women in it. It's just that the men will be women and the women will be men. "

So sick of the pandering, to fucking criminals and rapists and murders

OmiOmy · 27/12/2022 17:50

My bad. It wasn't FPFW. It was evidence by K Stock, R Freedman and A Sullivan from a few short years ago. And I was also wrong on the stats: 58.9% of trans identifying men are sex offenders.

Comparisons of official MOJ statistics from March / April 2019 (most recent official count of transgender prisoners):

76 sex offenders out of 129 transwomen = 58.9%

125 sex offenders out of 3812 women in prison = 3.3%

13234 sex offenders out of 78781 men in prison = 16.8%

OmiOmy · 27/12/2022 17:53

125 sex offenders out of 3812 women in prison = 3.3%

I think this includes those males with a GRC.

Absolutely.

I'd also be interested to know if they put any trans identifying women into male estate, because that wasn't covered in the questioning but it was implied that it would be considered.

duc748 · 27/12/2022 18:02

And isn't the whole point of a criminal justice system that if you've done something bad enough for a prison sentence, you lose some of your 'rights'? There is no justification for allowing some groups of prisoners to select the prison of their choice, FFS!

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 27/12/2022 18:10

They don't in the UK. Because they've decided it wouldn't be safe.
